Summary: They Are The Champions!
Review: I loved it! Queen, and Freddie Mercury, at their very best!
Awesome performances of such titles as "Love of My Life", "Under Pressure", Roger Tyler singing "I'm In Love With My Car", "Bohemian Rhapsody" just to name a few.
Freddie shows of his sense of humor, and wit, and made it an even more enjoyable performance.

A must, for any Queen fan.

Summary: Amazing Sound
Review: This DVD release sounded great on my surround system. If I stand in the middle of my living room it's like Freddie sitting beside me and singing. Really life-like, I'm amazed what the producers have done with this DVD, regarding that this consert is taped over 20 years ago. Only problem with the sound is the low bass level, but that can be corrected if you have a good sound system.
Many versions of the songs are great, especially "Save me", "Keep Yourself Alive" and "Now I'm Here".

I recommend this DVD to any Queen fan.

Summary: If you like best Queen, it looks like...
Review: You'll not find a show about the very best early years with good image and sound.
I don't know how they do it, but this seems to be recorded last year. The image is clear, widescreen and defined with live colors. The sound brillant and clear, Freddy will be singing in your room.
Yes, the show isn't the best, but with this band even not the best is wonderful. Enjoy it!

Summary: Another One Bites the Mike
Review: I've attempted twice to get good Queen CD's. Both of the ones I bought were similar; there were a couple of songs on each I really liked, but had trouble listening to either CD's clear through. This DVD is in keeping with that tradition. I enjoyed many of the songs: Killer Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, Dragon Attack, Another One Bites the Dust, and maybe one or two more. There are way too many stinkers in here for my taste; apparently I'm just not as big of a Queen fan as some people are. I would not recommend this DVD to anyone but the avid fans.

I may have enjoyed more of the half-baked offerings if I hadn't had to watch Freddie strut jerkily across the stage in white, tight shorts with no shirt. He is just not sexy, yet that doesn't stop him from showing his stuff. The close-ups would scare a Great White Shark, and make Gary from the Howard Stern Show appear to be still cutting his gums.

Songs like Sheer Heart Attack with Freddie in his shorts are just plain annoying. If I was gay I don't think I would find him attractive. His movements are way less than smooth, artistic, or even interesting. I would think there would have been some effort to make the presentation interesting and creative on some level. Someone must have been brave enough to tell him he needed some dance lessons, choreography, or visual aids at some point, and he failed to listen.

I generally prefer to write good things about movies, musicians, artists and people on the whole, but I don't like spending 25 bucks or so on a DVD and having to select a few small segments that are worth watching. I'm sure serious Queen fans would like more of this DVD than I did, but I want to warn off people who may just be casual fans like myself. Don't waste your money on this one.

Technically, the sound is good, and the photography is solid. I wonder why they did so many close-ups from below and to the side. It almost gives me nightmares thinking of those teeth! The audio is presented with either 5.1 Dolby Digital, or DTS Digital 5.1 Surround; doesn't offer stereo.

Don't get bitten by this one.

Summary: No Energy, Not Much of a Concert
Review: This concert DVD was extremely disappointing. The performance left much to be desired. The members of Queen seemed to be just going through the motions with little or no connection with the audience or each other. Except for brief moments from Freddy Mecury, there was little or no energy in the performance.

As far as the quality of the DVD, it was OK, but there were times when the sound didn't seem quite in sync with the video.

Don't bother buying this DVD. Even hard core Queen fans will find little enjoyable about this concert.

Summary: Decent Performance, Few DVD Perks
Review: The pros: Queen gives a fairly good performance. Roger and Brian are "on" pretty much throughout the night. Freddie is in fine form, as usual, and John holds down the fort. The quality is so good compared to the original VHS, you can toss it in the trash now--you'll never want to see it again after you see this DVD.
The cons: Why so few DVD perks? The fact that the sound and video quality are improved is obvious--this is a DVD, so that's kind of expected, right? Also, the "special features" such as the band bio and discography are hardly "special" to anyone who's going to buy this DVD. Also, the director's audio commentary is one of the most boring and phoned-in on any DVD I've watched so far. He also needlessly repeats bio and trivia information that even a novice Queen fan already knows, and he even goofs a few times by stating that "Bohemian Rhapsody" took a long time to become a hit (It didn't--Kenny Everett made it a hit by playing it over a dozen times on his U.K. radio show and subsequently sending droves of listeners to the phones and record shops to get the single). Also, the director states that Freddie recorded "a song" with an opera diva (he can't remember her name), though Freddie recorded an entire ALBUM with Montserrat Caballie ("Barcelona"). Why weren't Roger and Brian's comments included instead? Even Mack (their producer at the time, who also produced this concert's sound) could have provided more inspiring and interesting comments. Finally, the crowd's enthusiasm is lukewarm until the end, but it's hard to tell which audience we're looking at, since there were three concerts recorded and edited for the movie. Freddie seems almost disgusted with their listnessness here and there, using the "f" work a few times. To be fair to the crowd, Queen were exhausted in late November 1981, having just closed another world tour, and they seem to be less enthusiatic that they'd been in other performances I've seen (except "Rock in Rio," which shows Queen at their most bloated, tired and professionally confused--even Brian said that the tour of South America in early 1985 was a turning point for the band to take a long break . . . of course, Live Aid changed their minds in July of that year, thankfully).
Don't judge the band too harshly by this decent but hardly classic performance. And skip the director's commentary unless you want to hear the incredibly obvious and misinformed.

Summary: not as good as 'Live at Wembley' but worth every penny
Review: An excellent performance by Brian and Freddy - excellent artists. This was my first Queen DVD I have ever bought, and I am very satisfied with the purchase, I have a home theater system, and it just couldn't sound any better. Freddy is doing wanders with his voice, Brian may with the guitar, and they also have excellent drum solos, what more can you ask? although the crowd is tough, Freddy does it time after time and manages to get everyone on their feet with his Sarcastic remarks and excellent humor. Are you a queen fan? in this case it is a 'must have'. If you just one of those guys who heard of we will rock you, but have never seen the actual performance here is your chance, don't miss it, worth every penny. Enjoy. I know I will.
