Summary: Please know what you're talking about!!!!!!
Review: Please people, before you review the video look at it. First, the only two original members were Otis and Melvin. David Ruffin was not there nor Eddie Kendricks. Second, this video was made in 1983. The only Temptation that was deceased was Paul Williams(1973). Please know your Temptations history before you comment.

Summary: Dead, NOT ALIVE
Review: Sorry, this doesn't pass the muster. It IS NOT the original Classic lineup of the Temptations! Oh, there's a couple of them still there but the magic is gone. The group that made the 60's sounds come true is long dead. This is a ghost of the Big 5. Don't bother with this one.

Summary: GREAT PLEASURE TO SEE MELVIN DO OLD MAN RIVER
Review: THE FIVESOME ARE SIMPLY GREAT.THE CHOREOGRAPHY IS FANTASTIC.THE ONLY REASON IAM RATING IT FOUR STARS IS THAT I WISH THEY HAD ALLOWED MELVIN MORE LEAD PARTS AS HE WAS SIMPLY MAGIC ON OLD MAN RIVER.

Summary: My Review
Review: The reason why it doesn't have the original members is because they are all dead. The regular Temptations members have died many years ago. They have to replace them sometime. The group can't just have Otis Williams. Thank you for listening to me so intentively. LOL

Summary: Comparison Bears Inherent Iniquity
Review: This DVD is a beautiful piece of work portraying the perseverance of tragedy-stricken Motown group - perseverance that's "not in spite of those who left them, but because of them." (-Otis Williams)

There have been a myriad reviews of this DVD that have animadverted the group's line-up of new faces; juxtaposition of the 1983 Tempts to the Classic Five line-up has been the catalyst of this string of censure. Let it be known, however, that comparison carries with it inherent iniquity, for if we constantly compare the past to the now, weening a hope that doing so will either induce a shift in the time-space continuum - and, thus, an assuasive revival of what we long for - or simply relieve our nostalgia in some other way, we will never progress. For if we were, speaking from America's point of view, to compare the United Kingdom of today to the Great Britain of the 1770s, we could simply adjudicate to abhor them again and return to war, rather than establish armistice and form an alliance; if we were to juxtapose the United States that antedates 1865 to the USA of today, though not completely perfect and now with less manifest conplicity, we might as well start another civil war! To paraphrase, we mustn't dislike simply because something is not conterminous with what antedated its successor(s) whom or it we may have loved more (of course, in the last two exemplars, it would be the other way around, but the point remains clear). We must focus on the whole of the now and not compare what is now to what was once; we must observe and decide objectively, not subjectively. The Classic Tempts' successors know whom they've succeeded and must live with that, trying to be on a par to their predecessors. We should enjoy the fact that the group is still trying to exist, even with the losses of its original members. In short, it is okay to censure this DVD if you truly didn't enjoy it, as long as your abhorrence wasn't engendered on the basis of a comparison of the "Classic" line-up to the "new" line-up.

I am speaking from a very unbiased view, for my favorite Temptations line-up - much like the rest of yours - has been and always will be the "Classic 5" line-up. For no one can ever replace Paul Williams' earthly baritone, Eddie Kendricks' sublime falsetto, David Ruffin's raspy, yet gospel voice, or - speaking about the Tempts postdating 1995 - Melvin Franklin's signature basso profundo. Their spirits and memory will ad infinitum live in the soul of the group and the hearts of their fans.

Never will I forget Paul's tear-jerking affectation of "For Once In My Life," Eddie's uplifting falsetto in "The Way You Do The Things You Do," his poignant falsetto in "Just My Imagination," and the rare display of his natural tenor in "My Pillow," David Ruffin's command of ballads in "Since I lost My Baby," "My Girl," and "I Wish It Would Rain," and Melvin's booming performance of "Ol' Man River." I love them all just as much as the rest of you, but we mustn't criticize their successors simply because they aren't the same people as their predecessors...

Summary: not a good concert
Review: This DVD is not very good. I don't like the Temptations when they play the music too fast. They don't always play like that, but you may know what I mean if you've seen them a few times over their great career. Don't bother with this dvd, you can have mine..

Summary: These are the Temptations as they were in 1983. Good show.
Review: This group has gone through several member changes since their begining. This line up is as they appeared before Dennis left the group. Ron Tyson was new to the group and was still in the learning stages. Their performance was good, but the vocals lacked at times. These are not imposters. They are the Temptations. If you are a true fan of the Tempts, you will enjoy this tape.

Summary: Temptations Forever!!
Review: This is a great dvd. As a big fan of The Temptations I've really enjoyed watching and listening to them on this dvd. They are great I wish there were more like this. It's well worth the money. Richard Street is wonderful!

Summary: Don't Waste your Time or Money
Review: This is an abysmal display and does an injustice to the Temptations. I find it hard to believe that this is the ONLY Temptations DVD - they were an American ICON. Their music brought down some of the racial barriers that existed in the 1960s and this is the best we could do?

Where is the footage of the ORIGINAL Temptations. I agree, until there is something better, you're better off with the Temptations movie. Don't waste your time or money on this poor piece of work that folks are buying solely because there is nothing else. I bought it and I hate that I did.
