Summary: Classic Temps Wanted
Review: I'm an R&B fan who generally likes the original product because of the history, the early beginnings, etc.. Although I recently saw the Temps in Tucson, I yearn for the CLASSIC lineup (Kendricks, Ruffin, Otis, Paul and Mel). As another Motown legend said, "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing Baby"...

Summary: The Temptations Live in Concert
Review: I'm too young to remember the original Temps. But since watching Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Dennis Edwards and Richard Street LIVE I feel as though I've received a little visit to the past. I love The Temptations, past and present! This video of them sing is wonderous.

Summary: WHERE IS THE FOOTAGE OF THE ORIGINAL TEMPS ? ?
Review: I've not seen the video, but come on people let's not settle for anything less than the best. I grew up in the heart of the sixities, every young boy wanted to be like the Temptations. 4 friends and myself even tried despite the fact we had no obvious talent. I've seen black and white clips occasionally of the originals Tempts. That's the only video I want to see or buy. If it's not David Ruffin (My Girl), Eddie Kendricks (You're My Everything), Paul Williams (For Once In My Life), Melvin Franklin (Old Man River), and Otis Williams, then it's not the Temptations as I remember them (clap/clap side step front to back). "Bring on the video of the originals", that's what us real Tempation fan want to see. Nobody sang or moved like those guys, anything else would be less than the best.

Summary: For Footage of the "Original" Temps
Review: If you go to ebay, a compliation of the "Original" Temptations is available for sale on VHS from time to time. The compilation not only has footage of the Temptations' early days, but works straight through to the current line-up. A must have for REAL Temptation fans! Although I purchased it and love it to death, I ALSO enjoy this DVD to the utmost! I was fortunate enough to meet all of the original Temps back in the day when they first started and toured with the "Motown Revue"! Yes, those were the days! However, the music itself is classic! The lyrics and delivery are still great! Props to Otis for keeping the original Tempatation motto alive for those who have passed on .... TEMPTATIONS FOREVER! Yes, the faces have changed, but everyone has heard of The Temptaions thanks to Otis' endurance! A note to remember, when longing for the original Temps, David Ruffin was older and could no longer do those b-a-a-a-d splits! So, if he were still around, we may have had the sound but still not all of the fancy footwork that they were so well known for. They are an older group now, (like me), but hey, they're still steppin'!!!
Keep on keeping on Temps! TEMPTATIONS FOREVER !!!!

Summary: Caution
Review: If you think that the Temptations without Paul Williams and Eddie Kendricks ( I don't even dare say David Ruffin who departed so early) is still the mythic group that the World has come to know and love, then go ahead and buy this material. But if you are like me and go by the name or the blurred pictures on the advertisement, you may end up thinking that you are victim of a sad joke. Don't.

Summary: Not the Real Deal
Review: If you're looking for the "REAL" Temptations--that classic group with the smooth moves from the mid60's this is not the group--the 2 famous lead voices of Ruffin and Kendricks are long gone as is Paul Williams. Even Dennis plods along here and doesn't do Ruffin's songs any justice. However, he can put over his own leads. Melvin is still around and is a saving grace but the group just doesn't cook, it really disappoints. I wanted to see the graceful high steppin' of the past along with the sweet soul rhythms but this wasn't it. Too bad.

Summary: an ok randition of The Temptations
Review: Im sorry, but it was painful to see has-beens try to take the place of greats like David Ruffin, Eddie Kendricks and Paul Williams, but it isnt Pauls fault, Eddie had his thing, and Ruffin was out of control. I thin Otis and Melvin should have hung it up after Eddie left. Its a good way for performers to learn some of the greatest choreography ever, by some 40 year olds. Dennis singing Aint too proud to beg is...bad.

Summary: A point of view from the "Sixth Temptation"
Review: It is great to see that there are still Temps fans all over the world getting on line for information about the "Greatest Male Group" ever!!!

I had the pleasure to sing with the Temps on national TV in 1991. The lineup then was Otis, Melvin, Richard, Ali-Ollie Woodson, and Ron.

Although there will never be another lineup that comes close to the original, my opinion is that the line up with Dennis and/or Ali-Ollie Woodson as lead singers is competetent. Of course since my friend Melvin passed, their sound just isn't the same!!! The bottom line is, that in 1983 these guys were pushing 40 years old and still working up a sweat. I give them credit. If you want to practice some of the Temps moves, you can study from this film.

Summary: A one-hour time capsule of the Temptations at their best!
Review: Live performances, whether on video or audio, are usually so substandard that I end up being very disappointed with them. Such is NOT the case with this superb video. The lineup of Melvin Franklin (David English), Otis Williams, Ron Tyson, Dennis Edwards and Richard Street is fantastic from beginning to end. Out of all the combinations of Temptations performers put together over the years this is one of the best. Otis and Melvin were with the group since before they were called the Temptations. Richard was also in the group before they became the Temptations and returned to replace a sick Paul Williams. Ron Tyson replaced Eddie Kendricks, which was sad but doesn't take away from Tyson's excellent vocals. And no, you don't need David Ruffin to enjoy some outstanding Temptations music. Dennis Edwards was with the group longer than anyone besides Otis and Melvin and probably contributed more than anyone who was ever in the group, having been the lead on more top Temptations songs than anyone else (by far). This video also features a short interview with the group. You can't go wrong with this one!

Summary: Fabulous beyond words!
Review: No offense to anybody, but the Otis-Melvin-Ron-Richard-Dennis lineup is my favorite one(yes, even more than the original 5!); Ron and Richard are SO great, and this is one of the best DvDs ever! I watch this DvD at least once a day ;) a MUST-buy!
