Rating: Summary: THANK YOU! Review: A wonderful trip down memory lane. I'm happier than a clam to have this in my DVD collection. How on earth did we all survive the caked on eyeliner, the layered haircuts, and screaming ourselves into a sweaty frenzy? Ahh, the good old days! If you liked DD then, you're going to love them now.
Rating: Summary: sing blue silver--- Review: absolutely a must have!!! not only for duran fans but for music fans that appreciate great tour documentaries. this was 1984 people and to this day i havn't seen a tour documentary that comes close to being as good as this. it is simply the best. great concert footage, great interviews, great insight on the bands free time on tour and great quality. definetly worth the price. so skip the arena dvd- because thats a joke - and pick this up.
Rating: Summary: I've been waiting for this one Review: Duran Duran at their best. I had a copy of this on VHS when I was younger. It was stolen. I miss this more than any other video of theirs that I have. I am glad to see it on DVD. **EXCELLENT** I am now 37 and my children love "Hungry Like the Wolf". WELCOME BACK DURAN DURAN. WE MISSED YOU AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO THE NEXT CD.
Rating: Summary: Snapshot of a band at its peak Review: Duran Duran started out in 1981 with Planet Earth, and finished up with 1985's "View to a Kill". This band could do no wrong, although I believe their best year was 1982 (The RIO album). They split in late 1985 to form different projects (Arcadia and Powerhouse), before reforming in the early nineties.
SING BLUE SILVER was filmed in 1984 when Duran Duran were at their peak. This documentary covers a period of touring across United Kingdom and America where the band played to thousands of screaming fans. It is definitely a snapshot of the popularity of Duran Duran at the time. Fans will be grateful that someone filmed this tour. Saved forever!
While I enjoyed parts of the DVD, there were definite moments when I was bored with it. Dragged at times. The most interesting aspect was discovering that the band could actually perform live very well. My original perception was that this was a band who relied on studio to make them sound good. WRONG!!! Other aspects of the DVD which I enjoyed were the discussions with Simon Le Bon and other band members in 1984. Gee, did people really dress like that then? Afraid so.
The DVD comes in a nice sueude like box with concert cards. The disc itself only features the documentary , there are NO additional features. Personally, I think they could have included a discography or some video clips.
I would recommend the DVD to die-hard fans. For others, it might be worth renting before buying.
Rating: Summary: The sound of 80's is back to town. Review: Great live and great sound of 80's. Recommended !
Rating: Summary: This is how documentaries should be done!!! Review: I highly recommend this DVD. As I say in my title, this documentary is how it should be done. You not only get great live concert action, but you see the in's and out's of how a tour of this size is put together. You also get to see the "human" side of the band as they tour the different cities they visit. I've been a Duran Duran fan since 1983 and Sing Blue Silver brings me back to my teenage years and the Duran Fab 5 hysteria of 1984!!! A definate must for all fans! (P.S. - I'm so glad the band is back together again!!! Saw them in November 2003 and look forward to their new album!!)
Rating: Summary: I can't wait to get this! Review: I literally WORE OUT my VHS of Sing Blue Silver when I was in high school in the 80's. Can't wait to see it again!
Rating: Summary: D2 Does It Again! Review: I must say that I am so incredibly HAPPY that this video came out to DVD! A must have for any fan!
Rating: Summary: You have no idea how long I have been waiting for this... Review: I use to watch this documentary every day when it was first released. Watching it now, over 15 years later, I can't believe how great it still is. It captures the 1984 tour so well--the hysteria, the personalities, the music. It holds up as an awesome documentary of a band at the height of their popularity. For Duran Duran fans, this dvd is a dream come true. Non-fans should watch it to see how famous and loved Duran Duran were at the time. And I love the blue ultra suede packaging!!
Rating: Summary: Flashback to my teens!! Review: I was absolutely amazed when I saw this available. on DVD. It has been almost impossible just to get a VHS copy. When I saw it on Amazon, I didnt' even hesitate ordering it. As soon as I watched it, it took me right back 20 years ago when my best friend and I would watch her betamax (yep) copy over and over again, trying to pause the frame just right so that we could capture all those awesome closeups of the Fab Five we loved so much. Now, with the DVD, pausing is a breeze! I swear, I feel like I'm 17 again. The footage has transmitted to DVD awesome and the extra picture book and photos were truly amazing. It was tempting to not post them on my bedroom wall as I did back in the 80's. But, I don't think my husband would appreciate that (ha ha). So glad this is part of my collection.
