Summary: abba- all you ever wanted.
Review: This is about as good as it gets Abba fans. EVERY video they ever shot to promote their music is here. Having owned a Japanese Laserdisc which has about 12 of these videos on it, here on the DVD we get a total of 35!! The sound is fantastic even though it's ProLogic and not 5:1 Dolby Digital. Together the videos have the effect on us fans of being thankful they made them. At 2hrs 48mins what more could you want?? A"must have" for music fans and a great party DVD to play.

Summary: A truly impressive ABBA offering!
Review: I think psychologists say that smells can bring back memories of your past, but not for me. Watching Abba's 'promo clips' brought back vivid memories of my childhood and left me feeling great.This compilation of 'videos' (many were produced on film long before video was the norm) is the best I have seen, the quality of the sound and picture is very good considering the early examples are almost 30 years old. If you have any fond memories of Abba I can't see how you could fail to enjoy this excellent collection of their hits.

Summary: A no-brainer purchase for us ABBA fanatics
Review: This is a no-brainer purchase for anybody who is a fan of ABBA; 30 music videos, (okay, back then they were called "promo films"), plus 5 extra odds-and-ends. (spanish versions of songs, etc....) Many people do not realize that ABBA was a pioneer of sorts in the field of music video. They were making these clips in an era when a lot of other artists weren't. Yes, a few videos are almost laughable when you see the old costumes and such, but you have to keep in mind the time frame in which they were created. They may not be the greatest videos in the world, but they're still a necessary buy for fans of the group, and besides, they're great fun to watch, for the most part. All the videos are presented chronologically, starting with "Waterloo" in 1974, and ending with "Under Attack" in 1982. (Ok, technically, "Ring Ring" is out of order......oh well......) One of the fun things about watching this program straight through from the beginning, is to note how the group's look and sound changed and matured over the years; from "glam" to "sophisticated". Okay, some DVD specifics;
Both the picture and soundtrack underwent an overhaul for this release, which is a good and bad thing. The audio tracks for each video were replaced with remastered digital tracks, which is a great thing except for a couple of very noticeable places in the early clips where the sound doesn't line up with the lip-sync. Fortunately, this problem is scatter-shot, and happens in only a couple of songs. That aside, these videos have never looked or sounded so good before. This DVD also contains the un-edited video for "On and On and On", featuring the extra verse that was eventually deleted from the album version. Of course, this was on the previously released VHS tapes, but this has never been issued before in the digital format. Also, the audio track for "Ring Ring" is the American re-mix with the saxophone added, instead of the original album cut. (Two small points, but good to know if you're an ABBA nut.) Now all we need are DVDs of "ABBA in Concert" and "ABBA the Movie" to complete the collection.

Review: What better tribute to Agnetha, Benny, Bjorn and Anna-Frid, that lovable Stockholm foursome who so successfully shed their native language and brought us such stupendous disco-era classics as "Dancing Queen," "SOS" and "Take A Chance On Me"? Yeah, sure, their disco-glam bubblegum pop songs are fun and funny in and of themselves, but I gotta say there's nothing quite as satisfying as actually watching the band in action, and this generously-programmed DVD collection is, as promised, the definitive ABBA videography. It's chronologically programmed, so you can first delight at the lack of technical and dramatic sophistication (the shots are quite static, and the band barely emote at all...), then you can watch as they pick up more acting skill, and cooler film tricks. Celebrated Swedish director Lasse Hallstrom ("My Life As A Dog," "Cider House Rules") produced most of these videos, and you may well be surprised at how charmingly clumsy they actually are. It is, admittedly, a kitschy '70s festival of Scandahoovian guilty pleasures -- you can track the mounting disco-era fashion disasters along with the darkening emotional horizon (both couples divorced by the time they disbanded in 1982), and yet who can fail but be won over by the band's winning combination of sheer pop savvy and undeniable Northern European dorkiness. Seriously, though, these were pioneering efforts -- MTV hardly existed by the time ABBA broke up -- and for ABBA fans, this collection is a real treasure trove. Best of all is the original "Dancing Queen" video, with a flock of snub-nosed Swedish 14-year olds crowding the disco dancefloor, and the inclusion of several of the band's Spanish-language videos as bonus tracks. I was charmed; you should be too.

Summary: Essential Abba
Review: You're new to Abba? you'll love this, as it has all of the hits in sound and video. A fan already? You'll love this as it has the music and the images. The nuances of expression and movement add much to the perfect music. Thirty eight tracks or so of true Gold. Each track is a mini drama, a self contained masterpiece, finely crafted, staged and performed.
A bargain, a treat, and a reminder of what pop music CAN be like.

Review: at last after waiting ages for this release i finaly got it in my hands. the pacaging was quite nice aswell as the price reasonable. the picture quality is brilliant and the sound tremendous. to say that the songs were made all those years ago. the problems are that at times the sound doesn't match the picture. i hope someone is made to pay for this. at one point on waterloo frida's mouth is going ten to the dozen when the song is instrumental. obviously these tapes have got in the wrong hands for remastering. where are the lyrics terry

Summary: A comprehensive video set for a pre-video era band
Review: Since information on this title was pretty sparse when I was considering purchasing it, I thought I would contribute some.
(Note: I gathered this from the European DVD, release about the same time as the US one.) "The Definitive Collection" is the first comprehensive collection of official ABBA videos, including three Spanish videos that have never before been available on video or DVD. There are also two videos from ABBA's TV performances: "When I Kissed The Teacher", from the Swedish TV show "ABBA-dabba-doo!!", and a performance of "Dancing Queen" from the wedding of the Swedish king and queen in 1976. All of the videos have been digitally re-mastered from the originals and synchronized with the latest digitally restored versions of ABBA's recordings -- both the video and sound are better than ever! The DVD contains all 30 ABBA videos, a collection of photographs, and five bonus videos. The booklet has a detailed description by Carl Magnus Palm of the making of the ABBA videos. TRACK LIST:
