Rating: Summary: GOOD BUT NEEDS MORE BEHIND THE SCENES Review: I thought it was a great DVD but I wish it would have featured more behind the scenes. I went to an advance screening last night of Xzibit's upcoming DVD Restless Xposed and it featured more behind the scenes than concert footage which allowed me to get to know who Xzibit is.... I wish the Up In Smoke was more like that but it is still a great DVD and a should have for your collection...
Rating: Summary: One of the best concerts on video Review: I had to see this for my self after missing the tour when it came through Atlanta. This has got to be one of the illest hip-hop tours on video. "The Show" and others like it couldn't come close to what this DVD brings. Eminem proved to everyone that he is and always will be sick on the mic along with D-12 and Ice Cube took me way back when he performed his old school hit "Nigga You Love To Hate". Snoop and Dre closed out a already tight show with classic jams and new releases. Another A+ for the Aftermath Team oNe
Rating: Summary: Excellent, albeit with a little room for improvement... Review: Let me start by saying that I'm not generally a big fan of concert DVDs. Their sound tends to be unspectacular, even in DD5.1 or DTS, and the performances quite simply drag on -- they are not edited tightly enough for my MTV-honed tastes. This DVD, insofar as it compares to other concert discs, is phenomenal. I was unfortunately out of the country during the Up In Smoke tour, so I'm not sure how it compares to the real thing, but I am, needless to say, very happy with the DVD. Dolby Digital surround is utilized on this disc to its fullest potential -- a rarity indeed amongst concert DVDs. The mains and center typically handle all the vocals and instrumentation, while the surrounds handle crowd noise, as well as the occasional vocal effect or turntable manouver by the DJ; while the effect is more than a bit artificial at times, it's a lot of fun, and generally not overused. The concert footage appears to have been filmed mainly in 35mm, with bits of video spliced in here and there. The picture is widescreen, which is another rarity amongst concert discs, albeit non-anamorphic. Editing is extremely tight -- you can tell a music video director (namely, Philip Atwell) put this together. Lots of angles are utilized (they must have been running 8+ cameras on stage at times) and wide and crowd shots are used very effectively. Diversions from the main concert program are brief and well-suited. While the programming on this disc clearly does not include the entire tour set, all the key performances from Ice Cube, Eminem, Dr. Dre, and Snoop Dogg are here. My only major beefs with the disc are 1. that the image is non-anamorphic (meaning in laymen's terms that it looks like crap on a widescreen TV) and 2. that a DTS soundtrack wasn't included. Given the wonderful job done with the Dolby Digital track, the DVD might really have benefited from DTS. It's a testament to the overall quality of this DVD that I've given it 5 stars despite the aforementioned shortcomings.
Rating: Summary: great tour Review: I saw the tour in person and on video and it was one of the best things this a video of a concert that you should have
Rating: Summary: Go Dre & Snoop! Review: This DVD is da bomb! I can't stop playing it... Whoever mixed the sound for this DVD should do all the music DVDs. The low end is hype. The use of the surrounds is incredible. Keep it coming, let's see more of these! The only bad thing is there was not enough of Ice Cube....
Rating: Summary: all I can say is wow! Review: If you are a hip hop fan or not, you are going to love this DVD. It has the best sound mix I have heard on a DVD yet! These guys know how to put on a show. Behind the Scenes stuff is fun to check out as well. Love it!
Rating: Summary: Smoking live dvd from Up In Smoke Tour Review: This is the dvd of the summer of 2000 tour by Dre, Em, Cube, and the gang. It features perfomances by Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Kurupt and all the other crazy kids who headlined this tour. The production values are top notch excellent sound and picture quality. There are various extras and some behind the scenes footage as well. This is a great DVD for fans of gfunk and anyone who attended or missed last summers phattest tour.
Rating: Summary: excellent dvd Review: This is an excellent dvd, I absolutely loved it and recommend it to any fans of rap. I loved the freestyle by Ice Cube - does anyone know who the backing music of this is by?

Rating: Summary: Best Hip Hop DVD Yet Review: Ice Cube, Eminem, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg are together in this show that'll make you sing, that'll make you laugh, tha'll make you enjoy rap as much as you do. If you are a hip hop fan, I don't have to say how much worth this DVD is... Ice Cube (I didn't know him before this DVD) introduces himself in a very cool way, with a bunch of cool songs. Eminem (the reason I bought this DVD) doesn't have that big production, no big introduction, but his songs are great, mainly from Marshall Mathers LP album (The Real Slim Shady, Criminal, Kill You, Marshall Mathers...). And then you can check out Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, two hip hop legends, together. This is the best show I've ever seen.. They have an intro video (who was banished from everyone under the age of 17) which rocks... I can't even describe. The image is great, cameras change quickly... It's like a 150 minute videoclip. The 5.1 Surround Sound is awesome too, you feel like you are in the middle of the crowd, seeing these hip hop legends singing. Plus there are lots of backstage scenes, so you can see what stars do backstage... It's explicit because there is a lot of cussing and a lot of naked women. Just that... The extras are mainly the trailer, Snoop Dogg talking, you know, nothing big.. But just to watch this show is a reason to buy it. Highly recommended. Five stars, extra fun for hip hop fans, lots of fun to non-hip hop fans.
