Summary: It's about time!
Review: It's taken years for Melissa Etheridge to put together anything on video or DVD. This was worth the wait.

The performance itself shows off the incredible talent this woman has to pull off live shows.. and to do it on her own, no less. There is nothing worse than plunking down hard earned cash to see a concert only to have the "artist" squawk their way through it, looking lost and pathetic because their "talent" was all manufactured in a studio. Melissa Etheridge is NOT that type of performer. She's got perfect rhythm, a tireless voice and endless emotion. She is engaging and funny, and she will pull you into her energy.

The extras on this DVD are also fantastic. The various moments with Melissa on the road is a LOT of fun. I have watched this several times and never tire of it. One of the bonus songs, "Alive" is not available in any other format which is too bad because it's a GREAT song. However, it's just another reason to pick up this DVD.

Some "concert videos" can be downright boring, but this one really delivers. Obviously, much time was taken to put it together, and it's worth every penny. I highly recommend it.

Summary: disappointing product
Review: Its a DVD I had been waiting for, and Amazon.com sent an e-mail alert on its production. There's nothing in the world I would like to do better than watch Melissa in a concert, all alone.
Her performance, alone, for example in MTV Unplugged is amazing!! It has more energy than a whole band, an experience...

But I think the producers of this DVD have got it all wrong!
They have failed to capture the full personality, the strong presence of Melissa on the stage. And they have also failed to capture the mood of the audience, so essential to enjoying a concert video.

Summary: Absolutely Fantastic!!
Review: Living in Denmark, I've never had the chance to see Melissa live. So the release of this dvd, was a personal highpoint for me in 2002. Eagerly awaiting the release and then having to wait for the shipment as well. But Halleluja! It was worth the wait. Melissa's voice is as strong as it's ever been and she is, I think, underrated as a guitarist... let's just say she can stand up to the best of the male guitarists. I've had the chance to show some of my friends the concert, and although they had no clue to who Melissa Etheridge were, they were totally amazed! As one friend put it, "You really know she is speaking the truth, when she sings". This is truly as honest and personal as it gets.
I recommend this as 2002's BEST BUY.

Summary: Melissa's the Only One
Review: Mammoth Melissa fan that I am, this first official Melissa DVD release has been an xciting event for this music fan - I received the DVD this morning and already have been engulfed by the electricity of this solo concert performance in LA, as part of Melissa's International live + Alone Tour. Few artists, save Springsteen, with whom Melissa has been compared, have ever ventured a solo tour without band or backing support. Melissa returns to her bar-performance roots and gives what I can only describe as a mesmerising rock performance of her anthology of hits & back-catalog. Flawless vocals, energetic guitar playing and that engaging stage presence which Ms Etheridge commands, you cannot help but feel you are watching an artiste in her prime who does not reply on pyrotechnics, ... dancers or session musicians to convey her music- as these fans can testify at the show. Standing throughout, they lap up Melissa's energy. Top notch performances throughout, but kudos to the energy of Bring Me Some Water & The Different and the stunning delicacy of my personal fave The Weakness In Me (available on Nuthin But A She Thang cd). Chills galore!! The 2nd disc is brimming with additional features as described on this URL. All I can say is that rock's formost female singer (along with La Benatar) is quite simply one of the most talented all round performers of our day. Your Xmas stocking is not complete without this!!

Summary: A 'god-send' for me in Singapore!
Review: Melissa or her personal friends, if you read this, here's another plea (akin to the one in the 2nd DVD) for you to pay a visit to Asia in particular Singapore!! =) how else would I feel that crackling, electrifying energy which is so evident in all your concerts?

Even this Live & Alone 2 DVD edition, had to be bought fm Las Vegas - a frens' fren helped me get it.

Its a fab DVD - the concert simply burst forth with so much energy and passion that has become the trademark of all of Melissa;s concerts. In particular i loved Bring Me some Water, Chrome PLated Heart and No Souvenirs.

Only thing was that I wanna come over was really short - unlike the 10 - 13 mins versions which I know Melissa has performed excellently elsewhere.

The 2nd dvd was chock full of added features which was great but it seemed that the bonus tracks of other concerts and the really old video of Melissa performing in bars was way too short - they seemed like teasers!

But this is the 1st time i've watched Melissa in concert and its had me wanting more ....!

Summary: It's the song - not the producing
Review: Now here's one for everyone still believing that a song must do the job without extensive studio-work, hiring a zillion producers and fueling it all up with yet another brilliant brand new digital-effects-toy.
If a song works, it works with just one singer and just one guitar to take care of the backround.
What should I say?
The songs work.
The singer does, too (by the way)...
You love your music honest and "handmade"? This could be your favourite DVD.
I bought it just a couple of days ago, and no other disk has entered the slot of my player ever since.
The special features are interesting (to say the least), the concert is just brilliant and I recommend it to everyone, anytime.

Summary: Etheridge is Exceptionally Excellent!
Review: Ok my wife and I just finished watching Melissa's "Live & Alone" DVD premiere on Dish on Demand. And right of the bat I'd like to say that we can hardly wait to see this highly awaited DVD's content in full once the release of it rolls about! We've been devoted fans of Melissa's for years now and seen her numberous times in concert ... this woman is sure to deliver a performance like no other in her genre ... and she never disappoints! We will definately be spending the extra buck or two on the deluxe version of this DVD, as it will certainly be worth seeing the little extra tidbits; such as her cute intimate moments w/her new found love, Tammy! Hey, why was the [great] radition of Crimson 'n Clover cut --- what a bummer! Keep it precious Melissa --- Love from your fans, Kay and Les

Summary: Region 0
Review: The DVD is awesome, I've really enjoyed it.
There is a problem with the info about the DVD because it isn't region 1 (only U.S. and Canada) it's region 0 which means that is playable all over the world

Summary: AWESOME CONCERT - I WAS THERE!!!
Review: This concert was filmed at the new Kodak Theater in Hollywood and I was at the concert for the filming. This is Melissa at her best and I would highly recommend this DVD to any Melissa fan out there. If you haven't seen her in concert, this is her best show ever (I've been to 3 of her shows). Don't miss it!!!

Summary: Really meant a lot
Review: This DVD meant a lot because I was in Fort Worth, Texas for the Sept. 11 concert that was cancelled. As we all watched the world fall apart that morning it was surreal at best.

I finally am able now with this DVD to see the concert I missed.

It is clear that she is still very much in love with Julie as you see her eyes when she sings her songs. I thought I'd get bored with a solo acoustic tour but I was very wrong, this DVD is amazingly powerful and captivating.

Her version of Joan Armatrading's song "The weakness In me" was just fabulous. She really connects to the audience and speaks from the heart.

I think that Melissa, as a songwriter, is so warm and inviting because of that ability to connect with the audience on a very personal and heartfelt level. She's all about heart and being herself and you can't help but love her for that.

You'll enjoy all of this.
