Rating: Summary: somewhere out there Review: AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME LOVE this band Love them!!! Question though - has anyone heard if Mike Turner is doing solo work or has he called it quits for good? I miss seeing him on tour but I'm glad Steve is doing fine and enjoys being a part of OLP. Anyways the review is EXCELLENT because this band is EXCELLENT. Oh yeah and to all my fellow members of Clumsy Congress a fond hello and take care - see ya at the shows.
Rating: Summary: This DVD rocks! Review: For all of you out there that is a big OLP fan, this completes your set! It's like being there at the concert. One thing I love about this DVD is that the video is so clear and you can hear the music perfectly. They have good interviews and all different songs, more than what they had on their live CD. And having to watch beautiful Raine Maida sing in the privacy of your own house makes it even better. :) I recommend this DVD to anyone who loves OLP and would like to actually watch them sing then to hear it!!
Rating: Summary: Our Lady Peace Live DVD Review: I hate concerts because I feel they're too loud (not to mention that many bands sound absolutely horrible live). However, Our Lady Peace put on a phenomenal show, which is showcased here on this superb live DVD. The best part is that I can control the volume. You can tell by listening to some of the songs why they were not included on the live CD. A good example would be that the vocals on the song "Right Behind You (Mafia)" are not sung, they are shouted. The performance of "The Birdman" is very long and was most likely not included on the CD because of it's length. I didn't notice this on the CD, but "Is Anybody Home?" makes my ears hurt during the otherwise outstanding chorus thanks to bass player Duncan Coutts' poor excuse for backup 'vocals'. This DVD was worth every penny. The sound quality is great, the picture is great, and there a great lot of bonus features. The bonus features include, but are not limited to, backstage footage and interviews with the band, a behind the scenes look at the making of the DVD, and a live acoustic version of the song "Thief." If the concert alone wasn't enough to make you want this DVD, the bonus features should certainly influence you to run out and purchase it as soon as you can. This DVD is great for both old and new fans of the band and is worth the price.
Rating: Summary: Despite It's Flaws, A Great DVD Review: I hate concerts. They're too loud and many bands sound absolutely horrible live. This is not the case with Our Lady Peace. They put on a phenomenal show, which is showcased here on this live DVD. The DVD is not perfect. You can tell by listening to some of the songs why they were not included on the live CD. An great example would be that the song "Right Behind You (Mafia)" is almost ruined by Raine. Yes, as much as it pains me to say it, the song sounds bad because he does not sing it. He shouts it. The only other flaw I noticed was during the performance of "Is Anybody Home?" I didn't notice this on the CD, but the song makes my ears hurt during the otherwise outstanding chorus thanks to bass player Duncan Coutts' poor excuse for backup vocals. Don't let the miniscule flaws above stop you from buying this DVD. It was worth every penny. It sounds great, the picture is great, and there a great lot of bonus features. This DVD is great for both old and new fans of the band. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Best DVD Ever Review: I really love this DVD; anyone who is an OLP fan has to get it. Great show-I am sort of a newer fan of the band, and found that I loved the older songs that they played. I bought some of their old CDs too-and I love most of the songs. It's great to see how they've changed and grown over the years, too. This is a great band. Buy the DVD now!!
Rating: Summary: It's not enough! Review: I thought there was plenty of songs, seriously. I am greedy, and wanted more.I would have given it 5 stars if it had "Wipe that Smile" on it and a couple of more songs from their Gravity cd. I am a new fan of OLP because I got to see them in concert this summer. I loved Naveed and Starseed. I wish they had more in the interview section and each band member had talked about how they came to be where they are. This lady from the USA loves OLP
Rating: Summary: A Must-Have for an OLP Fan!! Review: I was at the Edmonton show where the majority of the DVD was filmed- my friends and I are visible quite often from our seats in the 2nd row! I've been anxiously waiting for this DVD to come out since the show in January. And 11 months later, it did not disappoint- the DVD captures the night perfectly! OLP puts on an amazing live show. The Gravity tour was no exception - nearly 2 hours of music and 22 songs! I was especially excited to see that they included all the songs from the concert including a fantastic cover of "Drive". If you haven't seen them live or you can't wait to see them live again, pop this into your DVD player and crank up the home theatre speakers!
Rating: Summary: Our Lady Peace - This DVD Is Definitely Not "In Repair& Review: I'm an OLP fan from the "Clumsy" album forward. After buying "Clumsy" I went back and snatched up "Naveed" and loved it as well. While "Gravity" was completely mainstream and void of the creativity and unsturdy musical hooks that the first 3-4 albums demonstrated, I am not one of those OLP fans who can't listen to the latest album. "All For You," "Bring Back the Sun", and the bridge from "Sorry" keep pulling me back into the past with a few glimpses of the cleverness the first few albums had.
With that said, this DVD is for all OLP fans. If you loved the loud and monotonous anthems from "Gravity" or "Gravity" was your first experience with OLP, there are 6 tunes here that will keep you latched. But it's the other stuff here that's the glue to this amazing concert. The audio mixing is decent but unspectacular, and there aren't any amazing effects or distracting show elements here. But there is musical bliss going on.
"Naveed" with the "Life" interlude is an amazing 10 minutes of R&R. All the classics are here, such as "4 A.M." "Clumsy", "Superman's Dead," "Starseed," and "The Birdman." The cover of The Cars tune "Drive" is fantastic and fits perfectly with Raine's vocals. It's one cover that's worth of a studio recording.
While old-school fans will miss hearing a few of the rare gems they have played live over the years, and I'll personally miss not hearing things like "Julia," "Automatic Flowers," and a lot of Happiness is Not a Fish That You Can Catch songs like "Blister" and "Thief." But I'm still blown away by this band, even with the mainstream stuff they've come out with. Even though I know it's not the golden river of music that's poured out of OLP in the past, "Gravity" era music is STILL better than 99% of everything else I hear on the radio, if just for the lyrics and vocals.
This DVD is a must-have for an OLP fan - I think we're all hoping for more experimentation with their next record, but until then - this should keep those OLP concert cravings subdued in the comfort of your own house.
Rating: Summary: too good for words Review: passion, meaning, synergy, music, beautiful, dark, energy, genuine. these are all words that come to mind when i watch this
Rating: Summary: Possibly the greatest ever live DVD? Review: The OLP Live DVD just shows you why music DVDs are so popular. If all live DVDs were like this there would be no bad music in the world. The special features aren't up to much but there is a good "making of" feature which gives it an edge. A must buy for any OLP fan or even a person who only likes one of their songs - this DVD will blow them away.
