Summary: Dio at his best ever!
Review: This live concert DVD was awesome! Dio's voice never sounded better, and it includes a very interesting interview of his opinions on several subjects. Ya, he's older, but male voices gain quality through time. He sounds as perfect as he ever has, and he still looks good too. I've always liked Dio, but some of his albumns have left me disappointed, but this one really gave me a new appreciated perspective about him, as a person, and a singer. Jimmy Bain is the only original player left, but the drummer is very good. The guitar player is good, but seems to maintaing a disturbing grin on his face. I highly recommend getting this DVD. My favorite songs on it, are: Killing the Dragon, Push, Fever Dreams, and Rainbow in the Dark.
GET THIS ONE, you will not be disappointed!

Summary: The King of Rock n Roll
Review: This man needs no further introduction. A living legend and the greatest voice that rock/metal has ever heard.
This DVD showcases "newcomer" Doug Aldrich on the guitar, and even though I'll always miss Vivian Campell, Doug is an awesome player.
As always Mr. Dio picks songs all the way from his early days in Rainbow up til his latest album "Killing the Dragon".
Awesome show, brilliant performance, cool extra material. Why not 5 stars?
Well, the dvd production is not flawless. I don't like some of the shiftings between black & white, and the camera work gives you a semi-professional feel ocassionally.

But hey, I'd buy this DVD even if it cost ten times as much.
It's Dio!

Summary: Please have this DVD re-edited/re-mastered!
Review: This performance is excellent. Dio's band is great, especially his guitar player. The audio quality is as good as any DVD I've heard. Possibly better. Powerful and clear, like sitting at the sound board. A pure joy to hear!

HOWEVER, as other reviewers have mentioned, the video quality is really poor by DVD standards. Some say it looks like a VHS tape. Here's what I think is going on:

I have no reason to doubt the raw footage looks just fine. (No professional video camera produces such grainy images.) I think the guys that edited and mastered it got a little too "clever" with the digital tools available to them. What everyone's seeing in the picture looks to me like artificial "noise" intentionally introduced into the picture (like we can do with image files in PhotoShop), making everything have little gray dots dancing around in it. I have never seen a DVD picture like it.

Even worse is, for some bizzare reason, they have some sort of stop motion thing going on during the whole concert where the image changes only EVERY OTHER FRAME! (Use your player to step through frame-by-frame and you'll see what I mean.) On some of the footage, like the drum solo, it's even slowed down to every four frames! (The "Push" video included as an extra on the disk doesn't have this same problem.)

Fortunately, the sound and performance on this DVD are so great, I think most fans (like me) will overlook the poor picture quality. (You get used to it.) However, Spitfire, why not make this as good as it could be and have the thing re-edited? (I'm sure the answer is, money, but that's sad.)

Summary: Still good after all these years
Review: What more can you say about a singer/band that has been creating great music for many decades. Dio is just a classic and this dvd is a nice addition to anyones collection. Ron's voice sounds good for as many years as he has been singing and the band sound tight and heavy. Compared the the one hit wonders of todays rock/pop world, seeing someone who enjoys what he does and does it well is just a treat.

I had the honor of meeting Ron about 20 years ago and his wife about 10 years ago. They are two great people who are so thankfull for the fans that give them the opportunity to continue to perform and create music.

If you are a DIO fan, pick this up. It will be the best money you have spent in a while.

Summary: Dio's voice is shot on this
Review: WTF? terrible job. Dio's voice is shot in this concert. Why did he release this DVD the way it is?

Summary: Very Nice
Review: You won't be dissappointed with this, if you're a Dio fan. Ronnie sounds great and gives a great performance. It's inspiring to see him rock so hard at his age. It gives me hope for the future.

I've seen Dio live 3 times, and this concert was only topped by the Holy Diver tour with Vivian Campbell. Doug Aldrich is great. He can pull off the VC solos very well. The only thing that would beat it is the real thing. Great harmonics and pentatonic licks. Some of them remind me of Zakk.
