Rating: Summary: I'd give it 10 - 20 - 30 stars Review: What you have to do is turn it up really loud, I mean so loud that when you clear your throat you can't hear yourself. Then close your eyes and I'd swear you think Bruce and the Band is right in front of you playing there hearts out. Buy it. It's incredible.
Rating: Summary: What a let down! Review: Couldn't wait to get DVD, ripped the cover open, and......not good. Video is decent, audio is almost unlistenable. This product is bootleg quality. I will probably send it back.
Rating: Summary: Stunning. Exceptional document of an exceptional performer. Review: The wide disparity between the previous reviewers may be likely due to the fact they may not have actually seen this DVD.It's stunning. Absolutely stunning. Here we have an entire Springsteen show (the first half aired live on MTV Europe) in front of a rabid Barcelona audience. There are things on this disc that you can show to people that aren't Springsteen fans that will make them convert. In a heartbeat. Barcelona is known for being particularly Springsteen-philic. It shows. I doubt if you will ever see a concert where the crowd is so enthusiastic and appreciative, yet considerate (they shut up when they're supposed to...) and knowledgeable. The "Rising" album hadn't been out all that long, yet they're singing along to most of the then-new tunes. The picture is crisp and vivid, and the audio sounds terrific! My disc #2 had a little glitch where it wouldn't initially play, but it was momentary. The performance itself goes without saying. It is obvious that the E Streeters are energized by the crowd. Reaction shots of the various members throughout the show tell the story. The first portion of the show was pretty standard "Rising Tour" stuff, but it seems that every time the band turns up their performance, the audience rises to the occasion. Seriously...the crowd even sang instrumental parts! They knew the lyrics to the new songs, and mind you, this is Spain we're talking about. English isn't even their mother tongue. There's a two-song somber mini-set from "The Rising", "Empty Sky" and "You're Missing" that are simply haunting. The show then swells, a joyous "Waitin' On A Sunny Day" leading into "The Promised Land" and so on, until Bruce opens up "She's The One". That song comes off absolutely ferocious...the band so tight you'll simply marvel. It's like they put their collective feet on some unseen accelerator pedal and took OFF. Then Bruce turns a relatively non-descript (for him) party tune, "Mary's Place", into a barn-burner. It's a joy to watch...folding in several old Motown/Stax/soul songs into the mix. The Palau Sant Jordi literally lifts off. After the MTV Broadcast ends, he does several "requests"...songs not necessarily done night after night. Watching him call out songs, seeing the band scramble to get the right guitar, etc., is part of the fun. It happens several times during the show. Solo piano versions of "Spirit In The Night" and "Incident on 57th Street" are striking...it's hilarious when Bruce flubs a line during the latter tune. The encore opens with a tour rarity, "Night" (another request), a rollicking "Ramrod"...heck, you can see the setlist for yourself. It's one highlight after another. As he's bidding the audience farewell, after "Land of Hope and Dreams" (the standard second encore concert closer at the time), you can see him giving in to the crowd and calling out to the band for "one more..."Thunder Road". The performers all seem to be having a great time...smiles are everywhere. Their interplay is something you rarely get on concert discs nowadays. I honestly can't see the fault in this disc...I do not understand the negativity whatsoever! A 3-hour, reference quality complete concert DVD? The add-on mini-documentary is fine, with brief tantalizing clips of tours gone by...but make sure you stay through the whole thing. The "Night of the Living Boss" clip, hidden at the end, is a hoot. Shot at Fenway Park, it uses the opening "Take Me Out To The Ball Game" and "Diddy Wah Diddy" to underscore some amazing footage. It'll bring a smile to your face, Bruce fan or not. Now, it's time to start putting together the footage from the past. It's time for "official" bootlegs. There's GOTTA be footage from the "Born In The USA" tours, if not earlier. Let's start releasing those, huh? Please?
Rating: Summary: NOBODY BUT NOBODY DOES IT LIKE THE BOSS!!! Review: Greetings From South Jersey and Im proud to say the Boss and His band have done it again. I am so glad Bruce decided to release the Riseing Tour on DVD. Not only it it his best album in years but the dvd captures Him and the band at what they do best. Plenty of old favorites and plenty of classics from the Riseing-songs which are very moving and personal. Empty Sky, Into the Fire, Youre Missing ,Worlds Apart and the romps Like Ramrod,& Night. Unbelievable. Bruce manages to Capture the best emptions and no matter where he goes from NJ to anywhere in the world he unites all of of us no matter where we are with his music. This Dvd is the first complete concert he put out and hopefully it wont be his last. (its even better than Madison Square Garden Dvd). So if you are a Bruce fan you know what to expect-- and if you are new to the Boss strap your self down and sit back and enjoy the power and the electricity of the E-Street Band Live -its a concert you wont soon forget. Bruce and the Band had Done New Jersey proud again!!!
Rating: Summary: My DVD Of Ruins Review: The music industry never ceases to amaze me. All I read about is how illegal downloads are killing profits and that someday a total Armageddon will fall upon us and the business will no longer exist. Well if SONY treats its new products like this Bruce Springsteen DVD, then they deserve the gloom and doom. If you thought the flawed Essentials CD had issues, the Barcelona DVD makes bootlegs look professional. With strong material like a Bruce concert on the line, quality controls should be in place to insure a pristine product is delivered to the market place. Instead we get a disc that cannot be accessed! That is just inexcusable! SONY is doing for music what KFC does to chickens. The Bruce camp is not without blame here. Anything bearing his name and all projects that he delivers should be tested and corrected before production. This looks like a rush job to cash in on the shopping season and that is a mistake from an artist who fashions himself as the "everyman." For someone nicknamed the BOSS he should address his employees to do a better job. As for the performance, there are better Rising shows but this one is good. The editors of this should cut down on the in-you-face close-ups. It's a Bruce show; we get it!
Rating: Summary: Bad, bad, bad Review: What happened in the production of this disc to cause such a catastrophe to this most wanted DVD? Bruce, if you're reading these reviews here, get on the phone now to your production company.
Rating: Summary: Columbia totally Asleep?? Rating does not relect Bruce&Co! Review: Is 5.1 surround yet another problem with this DVD. States on packaging that 5.1 surround and there is a selection on the menu under audio options. However, this appears to be another problem with the DVD. It is a shame that an icon like Bruce is treated in this manner.
Rating: Summary: DEFECTIVE 2ND CD! Review: I purchased my copy today and also found a defective second CD. I tried it on my DVD player as well as my PS2 and the same thing happens. There is no cursor to select the program. However, if I hit enter, the concert ultimately starts. While that would be tolerable, there is no way to access the bonus material. There's going to have to be a major recall on this one. A big disappointment!
Rating: Summary: Major Defect Review: There appears to be a widespread major defect with disc 2 of this set, unable to access any of the selections. I contacted Columbia's Quality Management Department (1-800-255-7514) and was told that I would be advised soon as to how they intend to correct the problem. Big disappointment as disc 1 was outstanding!
