Summary: The Rising on Tour
Review: A Bruce Springsteen concert is akin to a religious experience a sort of rock and roll baptism. Recorded live in Barcelona two months into the tour to support The Rising the Boss shows what he can do and why fans continue to believe.

This show is pure rock and roll energy. The show is made up of equal parts old and new music. There are powerful renditions of classics live Born in the USA, Badlands, Ramrod and others. Thre are quiet reflective moments including Spirits in the Night and Incident on 57th Street. There are new songs soon to be classics like The Rising.

The band was in peak form the night that this show was recorded. They were a cohesive whole. This was the E Street Band of the past but with a unique sense of the present. They played loud and agressively.

The discs are not without problems. It seems that Sony does not do its usual best for some reason when they present Springsteen. There are comments about the special features not working on disc two. The sound abruptly shifted from Dolby 5.1 to PCM 4.8 for the encores making the end of the show sound like it was recorded in a tunnel.

Another comment thats going around is that the mix is muddy. I don't see this as a problem. E Steet has always been abouit power not finesse. All in all a worthwhile view but Sony really needs to do a better job with its presentation.

Summary: it's not bad
Review: OK, so the sound is shoddy periodically.........the camera work is good, but not as good as NYC.......as for those who also received the defective disc #2....I called SONY and got a replacement in one week. It arrived with a paid envelope to mail them the bad disk back......it also came with a letter of apology...all in all, can't complain about the service or about the show for the asking price. Buy it....it won't hurt.

Summary: What are you people talking about?
Review: I just don't understand it... all these complaints about the "crappy" sound... Dunno if the Region 2 DVD is massively different (doubt it), but I've watched it and there's nothing wrong with the sound. I nearly didn't buy it, because of all the moaning going on here, and I bet others will decide against it, thinking that it's going to sound like someone under water outside the concert hall recording it. This may not be the greatest sounding DVD ever, but unless you're a DVD nerd (which I think some here are...), then you'll have a great evening watching this and it's well worth the price (which was pretty cheap in England)

Summary: Oh come on, it's not THAT bad!
Review: I noticed that a lot of these reviews are complaints, mostly about the sound quality. Yes, the sound quality, is crap. In fact, I've heard audience recordings that sound better than that. However, some people just wrote their reviews based solely on the sound quality. Hey, at least it was an awesome show! The crowd was so alive that night. How could you leave that out? Also, on the second disc, they have footage from the Fenway Park show this past summer, and the sound quality is much better, so I think it was just the soundboard at that particular show that was screwed up. Still, I thought the show was great, and the crowd was incredible. So just because the sound quality sucks, don't hold that against Bruce and the E Street Band. (Although it would be nice if he would release one of those stadium shows this past summer, like his last show at Shea Stadium)

Summary: Merry Christmas Baby?
Review: Hey Bruce, Merry Christmas Baby you sure did treat us BAD. You know when word leaked out that this Holiday season we would be treated to a full show DVD and the Essentials CD with a bonus disc I literally counted down the days. Now I'm counting the cash left in my wallet because someone just held me up without a gun! I feel like Chevy Chase at the end of Vacation when Wally World was closed! We buy his toys, we watch his show, he owes us! Well the same can be said here for both of these Holiday Cash-ins. Bruce, the champion of the everyman, clearly had little to do with these sub-par releases that bear his name and photo. How else can you explain the lack of quality control across the board? Correct me but doesn't re-mastering mean that this should be better than the old dog chow? The 5.1 surround sound is so shoddy that it makes the clicking interruption on an old 8 track far more acceptable. If that isn't bad enough, I have to wait 6-8 weeks for Sony to send me a replacement on Disc 2 of the DVD. Bruce has a very loyal fan-base that drowns him in adulation night after night. His shows are legendary and he deserves all of the praise heaped upon him. It's for those reasons and those reasons alone that he should care more about the products that hit the marketplace. If he keeps taking us for granted we should have this printed on our wallets and purses: "Sorry folks, we're closed, the moose outside should have told you!"

Summary: Is it a joke or what?
Review: What's this?
Who produce this DVD? Shame on you!
Who enjoy by listening this sound? I don't, and also if it's one of my favourites musicians DVD.
The sound is totaly [bad.] I don't understand how can they done this to such a legend....I'm very angry about it. I was in big expectations about this DVD, becouse we all know what a great shows the boss and his band makes. And i wasn't wrong. The show was fantastic. But i just can't enjoy of watching this bad production DVD. Sorry, i just can't. This anoying me too much. Even the picture is not well as it could be. Quality of this DVD can not compare to "Live in NYC" DVD. So i suggest you to buy this DVD only if you want to see this great show and amazing audience in Barcelona. Otherwise buy NYC concert where for quality you won't regreat.

Summary: Vintage Boss outshines subpar sound
Review: Has anyone ever been letdown by "The Boss"? The man continues to amaze with his tireless gutsy performances that can go from quieting 60,000 people to raising the roof in seconds. I loved "The Rising" top to bottom and couldn't wait to see it live, especially after being blown away by the NY DVD that featured many 'b-sides' that rock.

I almost felt out of line feeling like something was missing, until I read Scottgootman's comments that were right on. Bruce is on the top of his game. The production is missing the quality that was there with the NY DVD.

Any Bruce fan will enjoy this, but the sound isn't nearly as crisp as the NY DVD. Great crowd reaction, plus some rare tunes make it worth the $$$.
