Rating: Summary: The most compelling, awesome, steaming, hot rocking piece of Review: The most compelling, awesome, steaming, hot rocking piece of live music captured on DVD! This is fabulous stuff. Springsteen & the E Street Band is in topform. The music is righteous. Great setlist. So many highlights - all The Rising songs(!), Promised Land, Spirit In The Night, Ramrod, Born To Run, Born In The USA. This concert is also great because of the passionate Spanish audience. When I saw the first part of the concert on MTV last year, it made me decide to go the Barcelona concert in may this year. The best audience I've seen so far (I saw Springsteen since the River tour in 1981 in so many places!). Thank you Bruce, thank you E Street Band and thank you Barcelona!
Rating: Summary: sorry, but... Review: first: excuse me for my english. sorry, but... I think 5 stars are not right. this not because the concert wasn't the better of the tour ( for example Florence, Milano and Gotheborg were better in Europe ) and somes setlists of the last part of the tour were more interesting ( look at the last concert to understand ) BUT BECAUSE THE CUTTING OF THE IMAGES could be really better. here we have a lot of ( TOO MUCH )images on bruce' face, and often cutted, or taken from distance, and many times the public images give noise. I miss the point of view of "live in N.Y. City", where you see the band on the stage, having more space. and the images are technically better. and above NOT SO COMPRESSED.
Rating: Summary: I had front row Giants stadium tickets last show Review: Seeing that fairwell concert was tear-pulling I couldent keep my eyes open at the thought that the boss was going to stop doing this. If this DVD captures the power of springsteen than it's priceless.
Rating: Summary: I was there Review: After the first The Rising notes I remember myself screaming to the guy at my left: "here's gonna be fire tonight". Well' I was just half right, there was fire, it's true, but overall there was magic in the night. Fire, magic and and incredible sense of connection between the stage and the crowd. I don't know if all those feelings are possible to capture in a DVD, but that warn night in Barcelona, Bruce and the guys were truly at their best. As for magic moments, I'll take the solo piano performance of Spirits in the Night leading into Incident, and probably one of the most intense crowd reactions to Born to Run ever.
Rating: Summary: I was in Palau Sant Jordi Review: If you like honest and authentic rock, buy this, i was there and the last hour was the better i've ever seen. Springsteen is the best live performer in the world. i've been watching U2 and The Rolling and they can not compete with Springsteen anyway. If this DVD contains the same strength that this concert got, then you will be watching god singing, (that was what people was screaming when the last song ended). Don't miss "Born to Run" and "Ramrod", and look at the audience, it was incredible. In the States, you like Eminen and all those pathetic rappers, but in Europe we laught at them, we prefer good and intelligent music.

Rating: Summary: Better live than on CD Review: This is my first experience of seeing Bruce and co. and I found it exhilerating.
He gives 300% and is totally present and expressive of what he is singing about.
He begins on a really strong note with 'The Rising' and it doesnt let up from there on. I kept revisiting the haunting 'Empty Sky' done in duet, and 'Missing you' and found 'Ramrod' a fascinating piece with Bruce really abandoning himself to a wide range of struts and facial expressions.
These songs are expanded from his original takes of them on CD and are a major advance over them.
I found the whole thing completely satisfying and enjoyable and can definitely recommend this album to those who dont know Bruce or who only know him from CD. I'm sure all established fans too would be more than satisfied.
Rating: Summary: I could not keep this.... Review: I have all of Springsteen's DVD's and some "bootleg" video as well. I have like 50 concerts of various artists on video. I love Springsteen. But, I had to sell this back. Maybe there was a bad run, but the sound quality on my DVD was so bad, it sounded like it was recorded in a closet. It had none of the energy of the NY concert. I was really disappointed because I loved the idea of getting a complete concert. My ears work fine. My DVD did not.
Anybody got an explanation for this.
Rating: Summary: Sound mix is very bad Review: I've only watched this DVD twice in over a year. The second time I had to force myself. I have a nice surround sound system, not the best but nice, and the vocals were especially too heavy compared to the music. It's a very bad mix overall. Not full and rich sound at all. I was very excited to get the DVD after viewing the Live in New York City DVD. Now that's a wonderfully produced and mixed DVD. The sound is awesome on the NYC DVD. Stay away from this one unless sound quality is not that important or you just want it to fill up your collection.
Rating: Summary: Setting the Record Straight! Get Your Ears Checked! Review: I don't know what all this is about the sound quality being poor on this DVD, but this is the best concert DVD I have, from Bruce or any other artist, and the reason, beyond the fact that Bruce is one of the best, if not the best, performers still showin' us how it's done, is the awesome sound quality. It is so good I burned a audio CD and listen to it all the time. For my money Bruce's songs generally sound better live than in the studio recordings - they benefit so much from having that live energy -so having a great setlist like this to listen to is like a dream come true.
It's over a year later and I still pop this in just to listen to it. And then I'll peek in at the picture and I'm trapped! Whatever I'm doing I stop and watch this thing I've seen a hundred times and still pulls me in! I love this concert!
So how can some reviewers here say the sound is great and others say its so bad that its not worth having? I have two theories: There are some lower quality prints circulating and/or some people have burned copies of this - not the real thing. The only other thing I can think of is that these people so down on this haven't actually seen this DVD. If I'm wrong about that than the only explination I can fathom is my first suspicion that there are some crap copies out there, because mine rocks! Maybe its time for a new TV and some surround sound.
My other beef with some of the reviews I'm seeing here are coments like Bruce looks old, tired, fat and sounds that way too. Again, I don't know what concert you guys are watching! As with the sound quality issue, I had the exact opposite reaction. The first time I watched this all I could think was how fit the Boss is for his age, how much energy he poured out for over 2 and a half straight hours and how I hope I look that good in 25-30 years! So again, did you people actually see this?!?!?!
People have watched this with me - even non-Bruce fans - and have been blown away; mezmerized by the performance! So this is not just me wanting to like this DVD.
I have to give props to three other critics who reviewed this DVD here at Amazon; one who says this is what it is like to be at a Bruce stadium show, and like being right there in Barcelona for this one, another calls it, "absolutly incredible," saying her 13-monh-old is addicted to it (I'm telling you, no one can tear their eyes away from this performance once they start watching it; it's great to hear Bruce can and will touch a whole new generation of fans - I hope when I have a kid they will feel the same), and lastly, the writer who calls this DVD "Simly the Best... 5 stars and more." I couldn't agree with all of you more. Interestingly, all of these reviewers testify the DVD has incredible sound and production values. Why others don't is a mystery, but it is a shame they are making posible buyers wary of this product. All I can say is make sure you buy the real thing and check the sound options on your TV and/or surround sound.
As for the highlights: "Mary's Place" is a high-energy kick. "Dancin' In the Dark's" live treatment bests the synthed-up album version, as does the throbbing, more guitar driven "Born In the USA" (I don't know how anyone can watch him blaze though this tune and say he looks anywhere near old or tired), "Ramrod" here becomes a classic because the whole band infuses a goofy energy and Bruce's piano spots work on a whole other emotional level. Also, this is the only place to see a full, uncut concert (it comes close to the performance I saw last year at Miller Park, but closer to the arena show I saw a year earlier; either way, its like being back there again), get great live performances from "The Rising," and see hits not included on the New York DVD, like "The Promised Land," She's the One," and the aforementioned "Dancin' In the Dark" and full-on-electric "U.S.A.," all of which are incredible! I can not say enough abouth this DVD!
I feel sorry for those who couldn't enjoy this because of their goofy hang-ups. Get your eyes and ears checked! Everyone else, get this DVD!
