Rating: Summary: One of the best concert DVD's you can Buy... Review: ...and I don't even LIKE U2! I bought this for my wife. I'm surprised I like it so much.
Rating: Summary: Excellent concert Review: Having seen the Elevation show live twice during the tour, I was very happy to see the DVD available for people who missed the show. This was one of the most...rock n roll shows I have ever seen. Stripped down without the Pop Mart effects, and just all-out rocking like the garage band they used to be. I was blown away at the concert, and I am very happy with the DVD. I have seen reviews complaining because some things were left off of the DVD. I agree with leaving out some of the special moments of the show, as they are perfect memories. I am glad that they left out a little bit to maintain how special the show was. No need to include everything on the DVD, and there is plenty to make it special enough.
Rating: Summary: A shame it was Boston Review: Admittedly, a DVD any U2 fan would enjoy. However, I felt the Boston show (not the Elevation Tour itself) lacked a bit of the lustre that Popmart: Live in Mexico City and ZooTV: Live from Sydney had. Having watched it several times, it feels a little like that band is struggling for a connectivity with the audience that isn't entirely there, and hence seems to be going through the motions. I personally enjoy Gone, Kite and In A Little While most. I hope they release the two previously mentioned shows on DVD soon...
Rating: Summary: BEST CONCERT DVD EVER!!!!! Review: Let me put it this way, this dvd was so good that I would have payed double the asking price! The concert is amazing, the filming of the concert is also amazing. the second disk alows you to see the concert from 2 different prespectives, which is a very cool feature. it also allows you to watch them set up/play/take down the concert (fast motion video played to a song) U2's preformance was great. I really can't think of anything wrong with this dvd. DEFINATLY do yourself (or a loved one) a favor and buy this dvd. The only music dvd comperable to this quality is pink floyd's pulse (actually not out on dvd yet, its on vhs)
Rating: Summary: Awe inspiring concert! Review: This is U2 showing the world what they're made of! The DVD is magnificent, but the renderings of Gone and Stay (Faraway, so close) are worth every penny by themselves. I got chills down my spine when they played Where The Streets Have No Name, it was like going back in time. If you have always loved U2, you will be very satisfied, and if you're just starting to know them, then this is a great place to start.
Rating: Summary: Very good concert, strange to see them sin small stadiums Review: Actually i love it, but i had a little problem in the transition from stay (faraway, so close) to bad, that happened to me in both discs, so i guess is not a problem of my disc or my dvd player, that's all the critic i can do to it.
Rating: Summary: It's about the music.... Review: It's nice to see U2 get back to the basics after the overblown Achtung and Pop tours. Here it's all about the music. The stage set is sparse by U2 standards-no 100 foot tall tv screens or volkswagen beetles hanging from the ceiling. Just a band on stage playing great music. There are quite a few extras here, some of them are rather pointless, like the small clips from past tours. These serve only to drive home the point that flashier is not always better. The band sounds tight, the mix is great, the picture is clear and the energy comes off the screen and into your living room in a powerful way. Bono can't quite hit some of the notes the way he used to (see "Bad") but there really isn't anything here that is performed weakly or smacks of self-indulgence. I would have liked to see more from Zooropa and Achtung on this set, but it's still quite good. Definitely worth the $.
Rating: Summary: a U2 perspective for someone who has not even seen them live Review: reading the other reviews, I've seen that this DVD hasn't gotten much rave reviews. Citing reasons like it fails to capture the spirit of the concert and what have you. Now I can't dwell into that fact, for the very reason that I've never seen U2 live! I guess this is the closest to what die hard U2 fans in sunny Singapore can get to...apart from POPMart which I must say completely blew my mind away. The lemon and all. ZooTV was good This can't be compared to ZooTV and POPMart. its an entity of its own. Sure the playlist lacks a few good U2 songs....namely One and Mysterious Ways....the show stoppers for POPMart. Maybe I reside in history but I would have love to see the resurrection of The Fly or Mr MacPhisto. Would have been nice, right? :) Anyways, smashing DVD all the same. Worth every single cent I spent on it.
