Rating: Summary: love it live Review: this dvd is the next best thing to being there in person
Rating: Summary: Heart and Soul Review: Every new U2 tour is an experience. The nice thing about this one is the glitz has been toned down. The boys still rock and this is a pristine concert. The soul of U2 is very much alive. It won't disappoint. Enjoy it while it's fresh...
Rating: Summary: What a concert! Review: I saw this tour in Charlotte, and it was great to get to see it in DVD format! This is a MUST for any U2 fan! The 2 discs have absolutley tons of stuff on them. Hours and hours of stuff besides the Boston concert. One of the best "live" concerts I've seen on video. They really don't "clean it up" too much. It sounds raw, but at the same time sounds digital. If that makes since. The only song that was missing was "Mystrious Way" which they sang in Charlotte, but not in Boston (at least it's not on the dvd) The 2nd disc contains footage from Zooropa videos and extra stuff too. Have a Beautiful Day!
Rating: Summary: Me 2 Review: It was refreshing to get a little more intimate of a show than the stadiums for the Rattle and Hum DVD. Of particular note are the performances of "Desire", "With or Without You" and "Kite" that while obviously staged, still cook. The second DVD is a mixed bag. It shows alternate views (Directors View, Fan Cam, etc.) but the views are pretty small, so it doesn't add much IMHO. This video shows how really talented live instrumentalists U2 can be. Highly recommended for any U2 fan, recommended for any music fan.
Rating: Summary: This is the one!!! Review: If you only buy one concert DVD in your life..........make it this one!!!! I lent to friends and everyone raves about it. It'll pull you in and you'll never look at U2 the same. They deserve their rock icon status for sure. Great show, play it loud, and call the neighbours over.
Rating: Summary: Genius @ Boston Review: This DVD is heartstopping! Everything about it is pure U2 - their communication with the audience is really powerful. The filming makes you feel as if you're standing right in front of them. The collection of songs is great and the extra features lets you see things you never have before. The extra tracks on Disc 2 are amazing, particularly Beautiful Day which is....beautiful. If you're like me, waiting for their next album, you will keep watching this, to remind you U2 are always here to save rock 'n' roll.
Rating: Summary: The BEST slap in the face!!! Review: Oh MAN! I'm from Australia, so the Elevation hasn't 'yet' made it to my shores, but after watching this DVD, I hope to hell that it does! After being inducted to U2 at the age of 10 during the Zoo TV tour and only owning 'Rattle & Hum', you sort of pine for the days when they just got on a stage and played. Well, on this DVD, they do. And rock! It's a sterling, sterling performance - everything you'd want from the band that most probably got you interested in music, regardless of whether it was last week, last year or when 'Boy' was released. The sound and look of the film is superb, and gets close enough to the band to send chills down your spine for almost 2 hours. The point where Bono shines the spotlight into the crowd during 'Bullet...' is fantastic - the shot and the sound is almost like being there, you're THAT close. Oh, and in the extras - director Hamish Hamilton talks about not trying to remake 'Raging Bull', but you can tell that when he switches it to Black and White during 'New York', fast cuts and goes into close-up with hand-held cameras, he's evoking Scorsese.
Rating: Summary: AWSOME SOUND!!! Review: This is probably the best concert and the best DVD SOUND you can get on this digital format, make looks the Gladiators sound dvd like an am radio receiver. If you're a trully fan of U2, you'll love this DVD, the concert director is Hamish Hamilton, who proves again he's the GENIUS OF LIVE EVENTS!!!
Rating: Summary: Superb! Review: This is truly a masterpiece for all U2 fans. The concert rocks, the audio is something else! This is U2 at their BEST! Get It!
Rating: Summary: Good But Inconsistent Review: I liked this concert DVD but it has it's good and it has it's bad (where have we heard that before?) The Good -The Edge uses his Explorer on I Will Follow instead of his yellow Les Paul -Bad was finally on a U2 concert VHS/DVD (Rattle and Hum is a movie, not a concert video) -Where the streets have no name performance was fantastic -The Gibson Explorer makes its return!! -Beautiful day performance The Bad -The performance of one of my favorite songs "The Fly" wasn't that good because it didn't really have the energy it should have had. -One song from Zooropa, One and a half songs from Pop, One song from War, One from The Unforgettable Fire, some albums aren't fairly represented -I've seen better setlists, although the DVD did include some of my favorites
