Rating: Summary: Too good :) Review: I have viewed this DVD well over 2 dozen times now and I still am not tired of it! A superb show, and Joe nails his parts perfectly. Standouts for me would definitely be Satch Boogie, Time, Raspberry Jam Delta-V and Rubina. I love his guitar parts during the interludes too. I am a long time Satch fan, but hearing Joe do small blues improvs in between the songs are still so cool. He always brings a refreshing perspective to blues tracks (ie. House Full Of Bullets) and never sounds boring or repetitive. The production on the DVD is excellent, and for the price, it's worth every cent.
Rating: Summary: It's Satch, What can I say? Review: I'm watching this DVD for the FOURTH time (in 12 hours), and it totally kills! Great video, great sound (even just using stereo, NOT DTS or 5.1). If you are a fan of the guitar, a guitar player, or just a jam fan, get this DVD. IT ROCKS!. (A little caviat, this is my first DVD, but I know good picture and sound when I see or hear it, being a guitar player myself.) The only reason I give it four stars is that NOTHING is perfect..there is always room for improvement. (like my spaelling), LOL!Like I said, GET IT!!!
Rating: Summary: A must have DVD from the best Review: This DVD is a great showcase for Satch's phenominal talent, both as a musician and as a song writer. I can't stop watching or just listening to it. The sound is superb and Joe's comments on his equipment and the influence of Jimi Hendrix on his playing are enlightening. The amount of material you get for the price is awesome. The one drawback to this DVD is that it was videotaped, not filmed. The warmth of film, compared to the harshness of videotape would have made this recording just that much better.
Rating: Summary: Worth every dollar! Review: Well, I must say that you get every dollars worth and more. The set list goes on and on,(literally) and this 2DVD set is a must have for any guitar fan, not just a Satriani fan. Great closeups of Joe playing, helps you figure out what he's doing etc. Fantastic sound quality for a live performance (one of the best I've heard). Cool extra features, different camera angles on a few tracks lets you be the "director". My ONLY disappointment is that there was no "insert" or "booklet" inside the DVD case, but that is a very Minor issue. The quality of quantity of the music itself, outweighs this 100-1. I say grab this disc set now (and I'm a Van Halen fan!!!) Cheers
Rating: Summary: unbeleivable price & quality !! Review: This is an amazing dvd set that has great video quality & sound, i highly recomend it 4 any satriani fans out there...you will enjoy this over & over.......as 4 the othere rater saying it has "cheap packaging" ??? what else did you want?? a little photo book??? i'd personally rather have 2 quality dvd's that some silly book i'm gonna look at a few times......for under $X this is a true bargain....
Rating: Summary: Great DVD Review: I just finished watching this dvd and was very impressed with the quaility. What I also liked is how they show alot of close-ups for us guitarists. By watching I was able to figure out a ton of Satch's whammy tricks. Plus I found numerous errors in the tab books of Satriani, by watching how he does it. Its about 2 hours, and you also get a personal interview they have of Satch, where he describes his equipment. If I were you, I would consider buying this.
Rating: Summary: Great concert!! Review: If only the G3 concert DVD had been the same length as this - well over 2 hours!! The lack of any real packaging insert leaves me with the impression that this was assembled on the cheap, but the concert footage more than makes up for it. Stu Hamm's bass solo, while entertaining, still pales compared to the one he did on the G3 Tour stop in Memphis in 1997. And the addition of a keyboardist doesn't really complement all the songs -- much of Satriani's stuff sounds best performed as a 3-piece. But it is great to watch the Satch man at work. Great DVD to watch again and again!
Rating: Summary: Excellent DVD to Match Satch's Excellent Playing Review: As much as I love just listening to Joe's playing, I enjoy watching him play even more. Even when tackling extremely challenging parts (which is frequently the case), Satch makes it look like it's as easy for him as reading the Sunday paper. The quality of this DVD is outstanding on all levels. The picture and sound quality are perfect, the performance is immaculate and the filming is very well done. Being able to view the first three songs from multiple angles is very cool. (Unlike the Metallica DVD "Cunning Stunts," you can switch angles while the song is playing.) I don't know of another music DVD that I could recommend more highly than "Joe Satriani-Live in San Francisco."
Rating: Summary: Pure unadulterated Satriani... Review: Rock guitar instrumentalist usually brings to mind someone so wrapped up in the technical side of things that the music would be technically impressive.. but not really good to listen to.. which is where Joe Satriani differs from the rest.. sure, he's incredibly technically proficient.. but only to serve the songs.. he's not taking himself too seriously, he's having fun.. and it shows! I've listened to him since Surfing with the Alien and saw him on the Flying in a Blue Dream tour.. and this dvd is the next best thing to being there! And Joe's got Stu Hamm back and laying down bass so you know it's gonna be kickin'! This dvd has been in my player for a while now.. and even when it's not, it finds it's way back before too long.. and that's the best compliment I can give it.. if you like music that's interesting, intelligent and has emotional impact.. pick up this dvd and some of Joe's cd's.. you'll be glad you did.
