Rating: Summary: Well worth the price of admission Review: Have long been a fan of Jackson Browne and David Lindley, the 22 "other" cuts and (over edited) selections are simply a bonus to the prelude by Don Henley and Jackson telling the story of the writing of "Take It Easy" and the duet in an apparent motel or meeting room (with the left over potato salad on the table. That single video alone, to me, made this purchase well worth the "price of admission".
Rating: Summary: Jackson Browne: Still Waiting Review: Having been a fan of Jackson's since day one, I was anxious to receive my copy of this DVD. The melding of old performance to new performance was flawless. The sound quality was also superb. The song selection is everything that it should be. However,...... it was most disappointing that this is actually a documentary of the career of Jackson Browne. Maybe I should have read the details a little closer. Three quarters of the songs are interrupted by dialog, and never finished. If you want to see Jackson Browne in pure concert form, this DVD is not for you. Wait for, or demand a real concert video from the people who produce them. As a die hard J.B. fan, I'm still glad I own it, but I'll be waiting for something on the order of The Eagles' "Hell Freezes Over" DVD.
Rating: Summary: For Everyman Review: I first saw the Going Home Video when it appeared on a Disney Channel Special. I immediatly went to my local record store and ordered the video. This video is a prime example of the heart and soul that Jackson puts into his music, his lifesyles, his ongoing beliefs in helping others in their efforts to make this world a better place to live.
Rating: Summary: The Greatest 90 minutes of tape avaialble Review: I just purchased this video in 2000 and after viewing it for the first time, I wondered what I had been waiting for. It came out in 1996, so I had really deprived myself of some great entertainment for four years. I've been a fan of Jackson since his debut album and this video includes some of his best work. I've watched it again and again. I also have a copy of his one-hour performance from the 1996 PBS show, "Soundstage," so I can see Browne in concert any time I like. Jackson's music never gets old and you'll enjoy this video forever.
Rating: Summary: Going Home: Jackson IS Alive in the World Review: I recorded the original Disney presentation and still view it, though the years--and my son--have gotten the better of parts of the tape. It is a remarkable view into the man who has written the soundtrack for many of our lives. Going Home is not as good as a LIVE Jackson show but presents key elements that make you remember the shows you've seen and make you wish you could see him in person again and soon. I've seen him over 30 times since 1976. I just recently ran the tape again and was reminded of just how extraordinary a talent he is. If you love the voice and the message, you'll not be disappointed, rather you'll be granted insight into the mechanisms and muse that surround the man. You'll want to see and hear it again and again. Now, "go on ahead and throw some seeds of your own" and enjoy the music. It keeps our spirits high.
Rating: Summary: Jackson at his very best Review: I rediscovered Jackson all over again. What impressed me was the fullness of the music: tracks like "Shape of a heart" and "Before the Deluge" sound better than the recorded versions. The filmmakers create a wonderful imtimacy capturing so well Jackson's natural warmth and charm and his passion for life and the causes he has supported over the years. I have had to repurchase another copy of the video because the original I bought has been played so much!!! Just wonderful!!
Rating: Summary: Great Review: I've watched this video many times and the performances by Jackson and David Lindley, etc. are awesome. I often fast forward through the interviews while watching the Disney production, but I'm glad it's on there. I also have a copy of his 1976 PBS Soundstage performance. All music in that one. I wish that it was available to the countless thousands of JB fans. Lindley is more spectacular on that one.
Rating: Summary: Top noch! Review: Jackson Browne is my alltime favourite singer/songwriter, but living in Europe I do not get too many chances to see him in concert. I already owned the VHS version of this show, but couldn't wait for it to come out on DVD. It took a long time (postponed several times), but it was worth the waiting. What you get is superb quality video and sound, but above all a unique overview first class songs performed by a top artist acompanied by great musicians. No matter wether it's a down to earth version of Your Bright Baby Blues or a full fledged newly arranged Before The Deluge, it'all top noch! Only the best have managed to survive 30 years in the music business and the Disney recordings demonstrate that Jackson is one of them. Like a good wine he gets better with age.
Rating: Summary: Going Home video featuring Jackson Browne Review: Jackson is a true humanitarian! Through his songs, his thoughts, his words, he reflects this in every sense of the word. This video holds a remarkable message for all to hear. A message of love and peace. A message to encourage others to strive to save our earth, it's creatures, our children and ourselves. There are many who have not had the priveledge of knowing Jackson or what he stands for. My wish is that others may come to know his true colors as my friend, Pam, and I do. He is a Godsend, a windfall!
Rating: Summary: Jackson Browne, my hero Review: Not only is Jackson Browne a great singer-songwriter, but he's a great person!! As this video shows, he isn't in it for the fame, glory or money - he's trying to make a better world for all of us. I've always liked his hits, but this video made me want to go out and buy more of his stuff, because I realized that he has something to say in ALL of his music. Not only are the interviews on this video first-rate, but the band (with guest stars) sounds great too. If you want to see what a real social activist looks like, watch Jackson Browne "Going Home." He's the real thing.
