Rating: Summary: A Clapton afficianado from Ridgewood, NJ Review: If you are a guitar fan, your jaw will drop at the "Five Long Years" solo. The DVD has two songs that the VHS does not, Hoochie Coochie Man and It Hurts Me Too. The former is nothing special (far superior version can be viewed on The Crossroads Concert DVD), but It Hurts Me Too features EC emotively playing the slide and is definitely "value added."Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST CLAPTON DVD TO DATE!! Review: If, like me, your favorite Clapton album is "From The Cradle", than this is most definitely the dvd for you!! In fact, he plays about four songs from that album.
Demonstrating his ability to jazz-up a classic number, EC starts the concert wih an acoustic version of "Layla". But wait! Suddenly, there's a horn section that kicks in. (In fact, they're called "The Kick Horns" - Simon C. Clarke, Tim Sanders, Roddy Lorimer, Jim Keltner) They add a real classy element to the concert. I love Roddy's trumpet solo on "Layla".
Than there's "Hoochie Coochie Man", a rockin' tune which EC adds his well-seasoned, angst-driven voice to, quite nicely.
Later, Clapton switches out "Old Blackie" (his signature, Stratocaster guitar), and really get's into "It Hurts Me Too".
Moving on to my favorite performance, "Five Long Years"... Eric and his band go deep into the blues. - "Lord, I finally learned my lesson. Should've a long time ago. Next woman that I marry, she's gonna work and bring me the dough." (What lyrics!!)
One thing I have to say about EC, is that he doesn't try to hog the spotlight by completely out-shining his fellow bandmates; even though, he very easily could. No, everyone in the band is given equal opportunity to showcase their talents.
It's great to see EC's former keyboard player, Chris Stainton back and playing his heart out. And, Jerry Portnoy's outstanding harmonica playing makes you feel like your sitting at some hole-in-the-wall bar in N'awlins (New Orleans), just taking it all in.
Almost a tie for my favorite track is definitely "Everyday I Have The Blues", in which, again, the whole band just blows it wide open - Horns, Harmonica, Drums (Steve Gadd), Backing Guitar (Andy Fairweather Low) and of course the man himself!!
Another great performance, is a duet with Katie Kissoon on "Tearing Us Apart". I enjoyed this much more than the original EC recorded with Tina Turner, because Katie's style is much more energetic and her vocal range far exceeds Tina's.
I think I've mentioned everyone in the band, except for Tessa Niles, who had obviously lost some weight and was lookin' oh, so great!
As far as the audio is concerned, I would highly recommend opting for DTS. Simply put, DTS is uncompressed audio, thereby giving the listener a fuller, richer sound that Dolby Digital can't compare to because of the lossy (Yes, that's spelled correctly.), digital compression the latter format employs.
This is definitely a dvd that won't collect dust in your cabinet!! The only way this dvd could be topped is if Warner / Reprise ever sees fit to release the "Holy Grail" of Clapton videos, "Nothing But The Blues". (See my review for that one)

Rating: Summary: Good ride! Review: Is he pure or is he commercial? That's been a stigma that's rided Eric Clapton for some years now! Perhaps this one lays that to rest. Yes you get some Clapton favorites here, but interposed with some old standards rendered in Clapton style. And the style is true to the blues! It's pretty hard to complain when he's bringing the blues to a new audience, as he does here. Quite the perfomance! Made all the more blissful when the last song "Holy Mother" is dedicated to Richard Manuel of The Band. There's something about the kinship of musicians here that is rare and reverential! So, there's great blues here, and great rock! A lot to love!
Rating: Summary: great performance Review: musicians are the same of 'from the cradle album' exept for the drummer, here appears Steve Gadd, great in this performace. Eric is great, playing at his best level. I think he's his best exibition, with lots of guitar, from acoustic to blues and rock titles. He plays old songs like 'I shot the sheriff' and 'have you ever loved a woman' and new blues songs. He plays fender as usual but also two Gibson and one acoustic for 'Layla'. The audio is very good (DTS) and the effect is great.
Rating: Summary: Cocaine Review: Nice songs, beautifull performance. When I bought it, I knew Cocaine was not part of the show. After playing it, believe me, I missed Cocaine.

Rating: Summary: Live in Hyde Park Review: The best video buy I've ever made!Buy it,watch it,and revell in the best Clapton in thirty years!
Rating: Summary: Rock & Blues Oriented Review: The Hyde Park concert presented in this DVD was recorded during the From the Cradle tour and released a couple of years ago on VHS. Coming from the MTV Unplugged success Clapton opted for a return to its blues roots playing blues standards as well as modern blues songs among other rock tunes. The results are spotless with Clapton and the band in top form. To note, Clapton concerts through the 90's until the present time are quite an experience as he has teamed with the best musicians in the business. This concert is no exception. The set features some great Clapton signature songs and covers as I Shot the Sheriff, Badge, Five Long Years and others. The DVD set does not add much to the VHS release as there are no extras on it. The sound both stereo and Dolby Digital is very good.
Rating: Summary: EC is GOD Review: This astonishing video just prove, once more, that Eric Clapton is The God of Guitar. In "Five Long Years" he shows that his guitar is an extension of his hands. Well, it's hard to tell what it seems just with words... You must see to understand...
