Summary: What a wonderful voice!
Review: I never, I repeat never tire of James Taylor's voice. There's nothing that soothes the nerves like the mellifluous tones from this master. As you can tell, I really love James Taylor's music and have been a fan for years. I recently attended a concert of his and it was great.

Concerning this disc, the songs are performed to perfection with super audio and video quality. You really get the sense you're there in the audience. His backup singers are superb. There's even one number where one backup singer steals the show!

Lyric captioning is provided so you can sing along to his songs. I wish all music DVDs had on-screen lyrics. My wife and I love to sing along with our favorite performances. Surprisingly, this feature is missing from many music DVD titles.

If you are a James Taylor fan in the slightest, you'll want this disc in your collection.

Summary: The best of James Taylor.
Review: I'm a big fan of James Taylor, and I must say that I really enjoyed this DVD. The DVD is a nice mix of old and new songs.. From "How sweet it is", "Sweet baby James" to "Wake up Suzie" and "Line'em up"..

I've seen it several times since I bought it in march 1999 - I'm sure going to see it again.

Summary: Taylor's Bright Beacon
Review: Originally engineered and broadcast live for PBS, James Taylors' Beacon shines bright with crisp arrangements of most all of your favorite "Taylor tunes". James is in top form as both musician, and host in this "fun to be part of" performance that will leave you wanting more. The cast of supporting musicians are top notch, precise, and complement one another so well. Video production is well done, great multiple camera shots throughout leave nothing uncovered. Audio tracks are as clean as any studio album, certainly as good as his recent LIVE album, and definitely an improvement over those old concert videos(or old worn out LP's) you probably have in your collection somewhere. Check the Beacon out....it will be one of your favorites!

Summary: JT, In your living room, like your best friend
Review: This video became my favorite exactly two seconds after James and his band came on stage. It contains all the songs you know and love, and some you might not have already, such as "Belfast to Boston", "Me and my guitar" and perhaps "You can close your eyes". This is the sweetest, most moving and smile-producing video l have ever seen. In just one instant, you are transported to the Beacon Theater, to love and appreciate this music legend. This is a must have. Don't even waste the money to rent it, just buy it and see for yourself.

Summary: Excellent to the max
Review: As a Taylorphile I have to say that this DVD is absolutely beautiful, no wonderful, no it's beyond wonderful. The delivery was quicker than was stated. Best money I have spent in years. If it was just a CD it would be worth it. With the video it's fantastic. And no I am not James's mother.

Summary: If There Was A Show In Heaven...
Review: ...It would probably sound like this. "James Taylor Live at The Beacon Theatre": This DVD is a true delight. Over twenty classic songs delivered by a voice that has never sounded so good. The atmosphere is incredible, and only a true musician like James Taylor can create this kind of ambience, derived from his songs and stories alike. One gets the feeling that many of his "ex-hippie" fans are part of the audience, as strong and as loyal as ever, which really adds to the pleasure. Unlike most, there is absolutely nothing pretentious about James Taylor and his show. This is as real as it gets, and James Taylors hearty personality shines through continuously. It's an evening of story through song that is endlessly captivating. "Mexico" and surprises such as a superb version of "Everyday". As an eighteen year old, Im proud to realise that its from showmen like this and the musicians that accompany, that I can hear and see timeless music with value and heart. Sadly, I had to take away one star because "Carolina In My Mind" and "Sweet Baby James" are two songs that are shamefully absent from this title - why?

Summary: Test Pattern for DVD Home Audio
Review: This is the test pattern all home audio philes should use to compare with their DVD concerts. I own 6 or 7 other concerts on DVD. This one is the best.

This one has it all; subtitles, extra MTV-like songs, interviews, BIOs, plus the very best audio quality I've heard to date and possibly the very best video quality.

Couple all this high quality with possibly James Taylor's best concert and you've got something to measure everything else to. I saw James during this tour. This DVD is better than being there!
