Summary: A superb and lively performance!
Review: This DVD is a wonderful showcase for James Taylor and his wonderful musical talents. Age may not have been kind to his appearance (like so many of us!!) but it has done nothing to damage his wonderful voice and certianly hasn't dampenned his amazing enthusiam for his music.

This concert, recorded at the Beacon Theatre in 1998, is a wonderful showcase of Taylor's hits and some wonderful new material. Form the opening song, a wonderfully harmonised version of "You Can Close Your Eyes" to the final rousing rendition of Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away" Taylor is in top form. What is wonderful is Taylor's unpredictability, both in his behaviour (he's really just a big kid!!) and his delivery. He always has a new way of interpreting songs, new and old, and it is wonderful to sit and listen to an old standard done in a new a refreshing way as "Mexico" and "Shower the People" are on this DVD.

Taylor also has wonderful backing musicians for the concert. The standard of musicianship is excellent as are the backing singers, notably Arnold McCuller on the aforementioned "Shower the People".

This DVD is a wonderful showcase of Taylor himself and is one of the best going around. A must for any music fan.

Summary: The Best Ever !
Review: This is an absolutely brilliant DVD in Dolby Digital (wish it were DTS though). Playing this through my Onkyo TX-DS989 is video and audio at its best. This is James Taylor performing live and it is awesome (including the musicians and back-up singers)! What a performance! It is absolutely stunning! I wish this were available on CD for the car!

Summary: i got bored...
Review: Man, is this guy boring!
I bought this dvd for all the great reviews, but was very disappointed. My mind dwelled off after two songs, and at number four I was doing something else. Sorry folks!

Summary: Excellent
Review: I love this DVD. James puts on a great performance (somebody hand that man a towel). If you are choosing between this one and "Pull Over" this is the one to get.

The sound is better than first rate. There is presence there. It just may be the best sounding DVD I have.

Summary: Something in the way he plays
Review: This DVD is exceptional! I think it is much more enjoyable than actually sitting at a concert because you can see much more of the stage, the sound is excellent, and you don't have to sit though the concert and listen to strangers singing loudly along with him - thinking they are better than James. No one is better than James. This DVD is a real joy to watch. I can't wait to see it again.

Summary: A classic
Review: I first saw James Taylor live whn he toured with Carole King about the time she released her classic Tapestry album....no one knew who she was, but we all knew tremendous talent when we heard it. I have been lucky enough to see this man in concert twice since then, and my only regret is that I did not get to see this particular tour. On the downside, there is way too much "artistic" manuevering of cameras and angles, almost to the point of distraction...nevertheless, this is a wonderful piece of work by a master of his craft. Get this dvd.

Summary: Fantastic and heartwarming!
Review: The words in JT's music sets him aside from other entertainers. His words have a heartfelt meaning and his clear and easy voice makes me want to listen to him for hours. JT is an artist that has continued his craft in a steady way. There is nothing pretentious about him....he is who he is and he enjoys his audience nearly as much as we enjoy him! I have a lot of respect for James Taylor.

Summary: Excrutiating
Review: After watching this DVD of James Taylor in concert, my eyes turned so red and itchy that I had to run to the bathroom to rinse my eyes with cold water. It was THAT bad. How could people sit through this and not get bored? This show has zero spontaneity, and it seriously lacks an edge. I marvel at the fierce loyalty with which yuppie fans worship Taylor. He, his music, and this concert are recommended only if you suffer from insomnia.

Summary: Got your-Got your bucket of beer
Review: If your a fan, you don't need this review. The DVD was nothing short of fantastic. The man has a way with music and lyrics and knows how to play that guitar. His background vocal group is also first rate. They are all great but Arnold McCuller has a very special talent--an amazing voice.
This is a DVD where you will want to snuggle up with your baby and bucket of beer and enjoy the evening. It is just like being at one of his concerts.
Many times will you be coming back to view this one. You never tire of the performance.

Summary: The Best Concert DVD I Have!
Review: James Taylor's voice has not changed. It is still beautiful and haunting. The musicians and singers with James in this concert are first class. This DVD sounds very nice. I have an Arcam Alpha amplifier and Monitor Audio speakers. I watch and listen to this DVD only in stereo and yet it really feels I am watching it live. The recording is superb and I recommend this DVD to anyone who really loves soft folk rock music.
