Rating: Summary: A Sublime Celebration of Music Review: Britney Spears is a natural. She's got the bod, the moves, and the voice. Her 2001 Las Vegas show was absolutely phenomenal. I've seen her Dream Within A Dream Tour 2 times, and it is a sensation! Britney IS Vegas: Glitzy, glamourous, and fun! Her concert is full of bright lights, fabulous pyrotechnics, terrific special effects, and flawless choreography. And for the critics of Brit's use of backing vocals, I'd like to see any of you perform her impeccable dance moves with the speed and grace she does, while trying to give a full-throated vocal performance. It isn't possible. Britney gives her all no matter what, and she is sublime. Highlights include the show-stopping opener, a vampy, sexy "Oops!...I Did It Again"; the lively and cleverly choreographed "Overprotected"; a colorful rendtion of "Stronger"; and the sensational, seductive "I'm A Slave 4 U". A masterpiece on so many levels (costume design, production design, sound, lighting, theatrics, etc.), "Britney Spears - Live from Las Vegas" is a feast for the eyes and ears.
Rating: Summary: Very Vegas = Very Shallow Review: I want to like Britney based on the amount of time and energy she puts into her act, but the bottom line after all her effort is how good of a show she really puts on. I'll save you a lengthy read by saying this: if you like watching people dance this DVD is for you. If you like hearing people sing then this DVD is not for you. Despite what people say Britney does not purely lip synch. Her voice is there in the mix as well as a the recorded version of her voice. Technically she sings along with herself, and her "live" vocal is put very low in the mix or removed completely when she has to dance strenously. Every entertainer who dances does this: Janet, Madonna, Cher, etc...so let's not condemn Brit for doing what has been a standard practice for years now. The rub on Brit is the fact that she does it for every song except the solo piano number. Most of the other stars mentioned don't use it as much, and in Madonna's case not at all anymore. If you want to see the epoch of the teen pop boom of the late 1990s then this is the show for you. My two criticisms: Her choreographer is uninspired and consequently her dance moves look like everyone elses. The spoken owrd interlude w/ Jon Voight was a bad idea. It's confusing and poorly staged. Completely unecessary.
Rating: Summary: Not as good, as the Hawaii performance Review: I dont know, i dind't like this performance at all. The thing is that she tried being too "sexy" and it limit her as an artist. She was lipsyncing the whole time, If i wanted to hear her sing like that, i would just put her cd on and listened to it . Also what's up with the weird costumes and the walking around? She use to dance in unison with her dancers instead of standing around feeling on herself. Big disappointment!
Rating: Summary: Bad. Very Bad. Review: This would have to be the worst performance I have seen in a very long time. Britney lip-synced almost every song. Her tired dance moves echoed Madonna and Janet Jackson's early 90's performances. It has been clear to many for a long time that Britney does not have a very strong voice and it is proven here. The songs also seem to all be part of medleys (performed mostly at under 3 minutes). Too much time and money is spent on costumes and set. Basiaclly it's a live music video. Also can't help but be a little confused by the whole 12 year old girl thing for one song and then the grown up wannabe madonna for the next??? The show is cheap. The DVD quality is very good. Britney is very bad live (even with pre-recorded vocals) and all the songs seem to have the same beat, same sounds and same formula ( intro / verse / chourus / verse / chourus / bridge-verse / altered chourus / chourus with ad lib / end ...
Rating: Summary: Live In Las Vegas is an extremely entertaining concert! ! ! Review: Out of all Britney's videos, this really takes the biscuit. A full 90-minute performance of 15 of Britney's biggest hits at MGM Grand in Las Vegas on Sunday 18th November 2001 for HBO as a promotional concert for her third album, Britney. Although the concert is superb, there was no need because the album sold 745,000 copies in its first week of release, went straight to No.1 in the US becoming her third consecutive No.1 US album and has sold 17 million copies worldwide to date. Britney performs hits such as Oops!...I Did It Again, (You Drive Me) Crazy, Sometimes, Lucky, Born To Make You Happy, I'm A Slave 4 U, Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know, Overprotected, Stronger, I'm Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman, Baby One More Time, her new single for Europe I Love Rock 'N' Roll and the amazing Boys. You'll see Britney perform under a real waterfall to Baby One More Time, dance around 50ft above the stage on a platform to I Love Rock 'N' Roll, set fireworks off from her dancers' costumes and wear no less than 10 different costumes! An hour of this was shown on New Years' Day 2002 in the UK - but this video includes unseen on TV performances of Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know, Anticipating, What It's Like To Be Me, Lonely, a enjoyable and entertaining VH1 "Behind The Music" skit, a special Spoken Word with Britney in which Britney interacts with the audience and tells them how proud she is of her country since September 11th and tons of other stuff to indulge in! She also sets the record straight about how she has to deal with continual criticism from people who have no idea what they're talking about. Britney's management spent millions on sets and lighting to make this concert truly one in a million. The stage sets and dancing arrangements/sequences are splendid and expertly done. Britney's dancers also get a chance to shine as they breakdown to the beat and dance their butts off! This concert really proves how creative and imaginative Britney Spears really is. OK, she lip-syncs through most of the songs. But that's only because of the up-beat dance routines that she has to perform as well. A lot of singers lip-sync, but Britney seems to get the most flack for it and she shouldn't because she is a very talented and attractive woman - one in a million! By the end of the concert, you are left mesmerized, entranced and awe-struck by Britney - especially the final performance of Baby One More Time. A soaking wet Britney Spears with a minature top and tight blue jeans is enough to turn ANY red-blooded male into jelly! This is a must for any Britney fan! Along with Madonna's Drowned World Tour, Britney's Dream Within A Dream Tour is one of the greatest concerts of 2001! This concert really proves what a talented performer Britney Spears really is. Let's hope that Britney concerts are as good as this in the future...
Rating: Summary: awesome Review: I have seen Britney in concert three times. I saw this concert live when she came to Rosemont, and let me tell you it is the most amazing concert. The best parts of the show are when she bungee jumps and when it rains(she wears a different outfit than she does on the HBO special). The dance moves are great(even though she could cut down on the dancing and do some more live singing). She does sing live some though, it's not ALL lip syncing. Buy this DVD, you will not be disapointed!
Rating: Summary: So Hot! Review: I think Britney Spears is such a great performer! Her moves are amazing and the show is a lot of fun. This DVD is great. It shows up close what you don't get to see at the concert...unless you have seats right on the stage. Britney does lip sync in concert on some of the faster songs, and you can tell in the video, but she dances so awesome that it just makes up for it! If you're looking to buy it because of her "singing ability" then don't, because you'll be disappointed by the appearance of lip syncing, but if you want to see how awsome she is onstage then it's a must have. The video was spectacular and made me want to see her in person.
Rating: Summary: Best Concert Review: This is definately her best concert since she had more hits by now. I really enjoy the different versions of all her songs and the moves. She is a great dancer and although alot of the songs are lip synced it does not matter because i do not know anyone who can dance like that and keep a not. Her voice is shown in Her slower songs. If you really want her to sing you can not see her dance well. Madonna did it, Janet Jackson did it so why not Britney. The concert is excellent and critics need to base it on a professional level not a personal level. Well overall it is very entertaining. Great for a party, to play in the background while you have fun. Buy the DVD.
