Rating: Summary: John Rogers from Staten Island , NY Review: Absolutely phenomenol DVD!!!! Toto at there BEST!! A must have for anyone who loves music & live concert video. The audio & video is top notch. The DVD was mixed by Mr. Simon Phillips himself. Luke plays some amazing solos , Mike Porcaro plays a great groove solo at the end of "Africa". Bobby Kimball still sings like he did 25 yrs. ago. David Paich , what can I say.....you da' man!! Simon Phillips.....the only guy who could replace Jeff!! Buy it right now!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Toto 1977 - 2004 Review: Africa, Rosanna, Pamela, I Won't Hold You Back, Home of the Brave, 99, Georgy Porgy, some know the songs, but never knew the group! A very underrated group of the late 70's and 80's, Toto Lives on with this great quality DVD in 5.1 Dolby, sweet! In concert, this is one of the great DVD's to own especially if you're a fan of the 80's! Africa rumbles, Rosanna Rips, the music, the sounds of Toto all here. Even the original singer, Bobby Kimball is back in all his screaming glory and sounds better than ever. If only they could get Joseph Williams to come back for one more tour, darn. Joseph lead the songs to Pamela, I'll Be Over You and I Can't Stop Loving You. Joseph got kicked out of the band and then started doing songs for disney, including songs for the Lion King! Anyway...
There is really nothing to complain about about this compilation. I have to say I was disappointed they didn't perform "I'll Be Over You" one of the great cheese breakup songs in the 80's, but the rest is all their smash hits and they all sound great considering some of these guys have been performing since the 70's and still sound great. Steve Lukather looks darn good for his age and looks more like himself again after he cut off all that hair. My what 20 years can do! Jeff Pocaro still looks the same, and he still rocks with his guitar. No matter how you slice this DVD, along with the video collection "Past to Present" DVD, this is a must have for fans. You won't be disappointed. I'll bless the rains down in Africa! Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: TOTO Still Going! Review: Ahh, Toto Live on DVD in 5.1 Dolby, sweet! Even the original singer, Bobby Kimball is back in all his screaming glory and sounds better than ever. If only they could get Joseph Williams to come back for one more tour, darn. Anyway, there is really nothing to complain about about this compilation. I have to say I was disappointed they didn't perform "I'll Be Over You" one of the great cheese breakup songs in the 80's, but the rest is all their smash hits and they all sound great considering some of these guys are well over the hill. David Paich really put on the pounds, but man can he still perform. Steve Lukather looks darn good for his age and looks more like himself again after he cut off all that hair. Jeff Pocaro still looks the same, and he still rocks with his guitar. No matter how you slice this DVD, along with the video collection "Past to Present" DVD, this is a must have for fans. Rating: Summary: A Keeper Review: Amazing sound, energy... Great song selection...what more can I say. Buy this DVD and you will not regret it. This is one of the best DVD concert produced.
Rating: Summary: The best filmed and produced concert DVD ever made Review: Any film-maker wanting to produce a film of a concert should watch this DVD. They have perfectly captured the spirit of this TOTO concert with brilliant filming and editing. You really feel like you are there with the producers doing a beautiful job of filming the artists and the crowd.
TOTO put on some awesome instrumental breaks during their songs(although why "99" is missing is a mystery)and the audience are really into this group. The rock and roll after the song "Georgy Porgy" is really fantastic with great piano and guitar solos.
This concert is well worth having and, after the disappointment of the very badly produced Paul McCartney 1993 concert DVD(which I had the misfortune to buy),this TOTO concert is a like breath of fresh air.
Rating: Summary: just great Review: being a toto fan,i loved this DVD,i think it is the best intro to any live dvd i have seen. The whole concert is great, wish i could have been there. The guitar player(Steve) is just ausome, what more needs to be said, just a great tape.
Rating: Summary: IT'S ABOUT TIME! Review: Finally, a concert DVD to showcase what a great live band Toto is. Their music always sounds better live to me because it comes across a little more harder and progressive due to some great improvisation by all of the virtuoso band members. Steve Lukather has always been one of my favorite guitarists and this performance demonstrates why. The DTS and Dolby 5.1 surround both sound excellent. The video is crisp and clear, and the camera work was perfect, capturing closeups of solos, as well as various angles of the entire stage show. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: A full tilt success Review: First of all, Steve Lukather is AMAZING. Any hard rock guitar lover will truly enjoy this effort by the longtime group. Toto always gets a lot of flack because of their handful of radio friendly hits, but the band has always had progressive roots to go along with the couple dozen other styles they all enjoy.... and they wear them all on their sleeves for this concert. Simon Phillips is, as always, KILLER, and Mike Porcaro is a wonderful bassman. David Paitch's work is also featured heavily much to my appreciation. This is just a solid, solid concert by one of the best bands most of you probably never heard live. Go get it and be blown away.
Rating: Summary: Great Reference 5.1 DTS Review: Folks this is a superlative production. Should you be aching to find recorded material that will really put your system to the test.....buy this DVD. These guys are the epitome of sound virtuosity and they are so damm consistent..... It makes you wonder why some artists - like Rush, perfectionists that they are, come out with great material but severely lack in their overall sound quality. For a studio gem listen to Mindfields from Toto and for a really intense experience try Simon Phillips' solo "Another Lifetime". Oh for the ignoramus who didn't know who Mr. Phillips is maybe you need to realize that he was recently voted to the Modern Drummer Hall of Fame with artists such as Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich, Keith Moon, John Bonham, Neil Peart, Steve Gadd, etc, etc. This guy is a frigging legend in drumming. Keep up the great work gentlemen! You are all such inspirations. PS: Listen to it in DTS and I promise you....you will be impressed.
Rating: Summary: A Terrific Show!!! Review: Has to be one of the best live rock performances ever recorded. Makes me wish music and musicians of this caliber were still mainstream instead of the no-talent, weirdo junk of today.
