Review: This DVD is a must if you are an Allman Brothers Fan..This shows why the annual shows every March are so special..This band is rejuvinated with the new lineup with Warren Haynes. Rating: Summary: No egos, No upstaging, just damn good music Review: This is one DVD that should be owned by all serious music lovers. An awsome package all around. Good lighting, excellent audio and the 'Brothers' never sounded better. With the addition of some young blood infused into the group, mainly Derek Trucks, The Allman Brothers are back to making the kind of music they are remembered for. Flawless, seamless jams- one after the other with the kind of musicianship that seems to lost on so many of todays "flavor of the week" type bands. Buy this and the Led Zepplin DVD and you might forget about your CD collection for a while.
Rating: Summary: still kickin' butt! Review: Longtime fans (such as myself) of the ABB can argue forever about the changing line ups over the years or the fact that Dicky Betts is no longer with them. All I can say is today's ABB kicks a lot of butt. Gregg has lost a little of his voice, probably due to years of smoking, but man, he still sounds great! The song selection is excellent and the band is in top form. Believe me, if you are an ABB fan, you will not be disappointed. Note to Derek Trucks - you are playing with a legendary band and doing what you love for a living (and you are one heck of an innovative guitarist) - so it's ok to smile, move,or at least act like you enjoy what you're doing.
Rating: Summary: Like Being There Review: Having recently seen ABB at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix I can attest to the fact that this is as close to an actual show you can find without being there. As for the setlist, it is indicative of the sets they have played on their entire tour. The mixture of their older songs, along with the newest additions prove that the Brothers are as vital and strong as ever. If you need proof of who is the greatest white blues singer ever, just listen to Gregg singing Old Before My Time or High Cost of Low Living. The interplay by the two guitarists show where the energy and inspiration the band has found has come from. From the young in years but mature in talent slide playing of Derek Trucks, to the incredible song writing and playing of Warren Haynes shows why he was the person that the band brought in to replace Dickie Betts. But all of this, along with Gregg's soulful keyboards, is anchored by two drummers and a percussionist who lay down a thunderous wall of sound you could walk on. With their latest CD providing a fertile field of new ABB classics, plus the classic ABB songs on this DVD you can immerse yourself in an incredible musical experience. So if couldn't make any shows on this tour this DVD will give you a sample of the beauty and power of the Brothers live, and if did see them you can relive the experience. This one rocks.
Rating: Summary: DOUBLE NO MORE Review: 3 stars only not because of the fantastic show (Derek is since longs years my fever guitarist and here he is amazing) or technical quality, just because on the second DVD you have only two songs (the encore and a backstage song like bonus) that's all! I like interviews and infos on the band but in addition not to replace the music, the Ted Nugent double DVD is more interesting with old footages and more live music In this case no need double DVD one was enough
Rating: Summary: A fine concert video Review: Featuring new lead guitarist Derek Trucks, this DVD outshines the mediocre 2000 live album "Peakin' At The Beacon", ad it would serve as a great companion volume to the recent 2004 live album from the Beacon Theatre, "One Way Out". The Allman Brothers Band lost a characteristic voice and a fine slide guitarist in Dickey Betts, but Gov't Mule frontman Warren Haynes and drummer Butch Trucks' nephew Derek make a near-perfect pair (as perfect as the ABB can be without Duane Allman), and if 54-year-old Gregg Allman's vocals sound a little worn, they're still as soulful as ever. The 22-song track list includes both old an new songs...70s concert favorites like "Midnight Rider", "Melissa", "Come And Go Blues", "Whippin' Post", "Ain't Wastin' Time No More", and "Statesboro Blues", and excellent latter-day songs like "Soulshine", "Desdemona", "Maydell", and the haunting "Old Before My Time". Excellent performance. Definitely recommended (and it includes interviews and behind-the-scenes-footage as well).
Rating: Summary: Welcomed Back Review: I am an Allman Brothers Band fan from back in the Fillmore East days where I saw them close the place. Over the years I have grown to love the guitar play that became the soundtrack for some of the times of my life. Thus I consider myself a sort of expert on the band as much as a fan can be. Recently, like others I am sure, I was put off by the departure of Dicky Betts and sub conscientiously relegated the band to the back burner. Then one night I decided to checkout "Live at the Beacon" figuring I might like it. The show hit me like a ton of bricks. The Band has rejuvenated itself. The performance level of the band is as good as it has ever been. The return of Warren Haynes combined with Derek Trucks creates a tightness and a flow that has to be seen in addition to being heard. The band continues to excel live with the new material creating a dimension never before reached. For you purists, like myself, the usage of the horns is an enhancement that supplements the listening experience without overpowering the sound. The disc 2 bonus stuff featuring the acoustic rehearsal of "Old Friend" just added to the overall quality of the set. If you have enjoyed the Allmans in the past you will love this DVD. Highest recommendation

Rating: Summary: One of the All-Time Great Bands Review: Just got this DVD last night along with the Clapton "Crossroads" disc. To my surprise I am more impressed with the ABB concert. I have been a fan from the beginning, and I loved Duane and Dickey Betts. However, for me the band sounds just as good with Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks. Haynes is not just another pretty face (sorry) -- an excellent and fluid player. Derek Trucks is tremendous -- very beautiful, liquid sound, amazing technique. For the younger guys -- you shouldn't consider ABB a "jam band" -- there is much more structure, one of the ABB trademarks. It's all here. If you have ever liked them, you'll enjoy this DVD.
Rating: Summary: track selection Review: I have no complaints about what is here, only about what is missing. The nights chosen to record this DVD were amazing shows....but what was left out was Layla!!!!! Come on! How could that be left off this DVD?!?
