Rating: Summary: The first Floyd video to buy... Review: I first saw this film back in the '70s at the Fox Valley midnight showing in Aurora, Illinois. I remember the marquee read "Pink Floyd: The Movie". This is not a concert video. This is a Pink Floyd experience. I have been a Floyd fan, yet I am not a Floyd "geek". But I still remember how enjoyable it was to see the unique recording techniques behind "Dark Side of the Moon" cuts and others. Also, I see this as an anthropical/sociological study of the generation separating hippies & punks.
Rating: Summary: Incredible Review: This is such an awesome video. It is true, as one other review that I have read, that they Show Nick Mason way too much. In "One of these Days" it shows him for practically the whole song. This has the best version that I have ever heard of "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun", and same with careful with that axe.. This is a collection of pretty much the best pink floyd music around.. except for mademoiselle nobs.. it is strikingly similar to seamus from meddle... but yeah... careful with that axe, and set the controls both LOOK really incredible. The footage of dark side of the moon being recorded is really interesting. Get this video because it is so awesome.
Rating: Summary: The way a live set should be Review: this is the best floyd video i've seen. this was a time when they worked hard to enhance and explore their songs during live sets. it's an exciting and refreshing video!
Rating: Summary: It's just like PF has always been: unbelieveble Review: I was getting mad when I watched it.The band was wonderful, moreover the general sight of the video is more than I expected to see. When it's over, I got out and bought Meedle's record.By the way which one's Pink? :)
Rating: Summary: Definitely one of my best trips. Review: Waters is a genius when it comes to making very interesting sounds under the influence of Scooby Snacks. This movie is a must for the beginer, novice, and expert fans and you know who you are; "most of the time."
Rating: Summary: The Delicate(?) Sounds Of The Seventies Review: When I first saw this video in 1974 I was so astonished that I could not sleep for more than a week and even after 25 years I still see it with the same pleasure and the songs still echoe in my ears. In my thought, these delicate sounds of the seventies(I still take care with that axe, Eugene), still looks like a trip to the other side of the mirror
Rating: Summary: The Floyd in all their Glory..... without the crust. Review: When I bought this video, I didn't know what to expect. At the time I owned only 14. Now I own over all the Floyd Cd's (and of course "imports".) My first impression was one of shock. Echoes blew me away. I rather listen to this live version anyday over the studio version. Gilmour plays the Guitar as if there was no tomorrow. The transformation of Echoes into a Guitar driven song to a Bass driven song is done masterfully by Waters. Wright stars in the latter half of A Saucerful of Secrets, just before Gilmour bursts in with his vocal solo. In One of these Days, Nick Mason shines and proves how underrated he his. And yes he is the one who says One of these Days I'm going to cut you into little pieces. In Careful with that Axe, Eugene, Waters produces the scream, Carefull... Carefull... Carefull with that Axe, Eugene AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't agree more with Nick Mason, I also want the pie without the crust. In my opinion this Tape represents the Floyd at the peak of their working together. No Barrett is long gone, Waters hasn't become the focal point of the band, and Gilmour has another 15 years ahead of him before he leads. At this point everybody puts their part in, including Mason and thankfully Rick Wright. This video is among the jewels of my Floydian collection. Not exactly a starter video by far, but the Floyd's best including The Wall. I highly recommend this video anybody into The Pink Floyd.
Rating: Summary: Get some buddha!!!!! Review: This video is the best thing I have ever watched while having a good time if you know what I mean!!!!!! So if you have not tried it, do it and watch this video.
Rating: Summary: A MUST HAVE FOR ALL PINK FLOYD FANS!!!!!!!! Review: Live at Pompeii was a gift that I recieved. I have only heard Pink Floyd on the radio and loved what I heard. Once I saw Live at Pompeii. I was hooked! I now own every thing I can get my hands on that has to do with Pink Floyd! From one fan to another, once you see Live at Pompeii you'll be hooked as well! I gaurntee it!
Rating: Summary: The greatest Floyd film comercialy available today!!!!! Review: From the first sonic ping at the outset of Echoes to the final repeated vocal strains that close the film , Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii, is a stunning musical and visual experience. It offers one, the rare treat of seeing the original group perform classic space jams among the creepy ruins of ancient Pompeii. Gilmour howls, Waters scowls, Wright gets psycedelic, and Nick Mason orders two slices of pie without the crusts! As if that was'nt enough, the film contains some very cool footage of the band recording the headphone classic The Dark Side of the Moon. A great look at one of rocks most influential bands when they were still on speaking terms.
