Summary: Demo quality DTS
Review: While the 2.0 track is very good, the true star of this DVD is the soundtrack in DTS version. Make sure you have a killer subwoofer, turn it up, and close your eyes when the string intro to "Hotel California" kicks in and you'll think you're in the audience at the concert. Amazing sound quality, superb performances and very good choice of songs, from their old hits to their new stuff.

The video quality isn't top notch, but this is basically a recording of a concert, and the music should be king -- and in "Hell Freezes Over" the music is indeed king. For the geeks out there, the average bit rate seemed to be ~7 or so. I only looked periodically, so I think that's right. What that amounts to is more space was devoted to high quality sound reproduction and so that means there's less space for "extras" -- well, there are virtually no extras on this disk.

If you liked the Eagles, you'll LOVE this DVD. If you loved the Eagles, you'll be blown away. It's too bad that this DVD is still the standard by which all other concert DVDs are judged against, meaning that the studios haven't stepped up to produce more top quality concert DVDs.

Summary: Flawless! One of the best live performances on DVD!
Review: There is no doubt that when The Eagles are on song there is nothing like them. The distinctive voices of their different lead vocalists, the ease with which they move between genre's, the brilliant standard of musicianship, their perfect harmonies and so on (I could go on for hours!) make The Eagles one of the best rock/country groups of all time. And this DVD only reinforces this!

I'm much younger and so wasn't around when The Eagles were big and it was this DVD that turned me into an huge Eagles fan. From the opening picking of Don Felder on "Hotel California" to Don Henley's haunting "Desperado" this DVD is a music lover's heaven.

You wouldn't have thought that they had been apart from 15 years because the boys slipped into the mood like an old pair of slippers. Henley sounded great delivering a number of tracks that leave one spellbound, "Wasted Time" especially. Glenn Frey slips into his laid back, country style with ease on such numbers as "Tequila Sunrise" and "Take it Easy". Joe Walsh is at his comedic best but also manages to show that the years have done nothing to lessen his amazing guitar playing. Timothy B. Schmit is a treat on the lovely new track "Love Will Keep Us Alive" and his excellent ballad "I Can't Tell You Why". And I mustn't forget to mention Don Felder's contribution on guitar which is proffessional to say the least.

All in all The Eagles have served up a fantastic selection of their greatest hits and some good new material in what is one of the best DVD's around. A sure fire winner whether you're an Eagles fan or not.

Summary: What a GREAT DVD
Review: The Hell Freezes Over DVD is a mesmerizing compilation of The Eagles in Concert filmed during their 1994 Tour. The editing is flawless and the sound quality is crystal clear. The music adapts well to the DTS format. Every strum of the guitar and every beat of the drum resonates appropriately from the surround speakers. DTS is not overused on this DVD. You get the feeling of being there.

Summary: GREAT DVD BY A GREAT BAND
Review: WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT THE EAGLES THAT HASN'T ALREADY BEEN SAID? IF YOU LIKE ROCK AND ROLL BY PEOPLE THAT CAN ACTUALLY WRITE AND SING THIS IS ONE YOU SHOULD HAVE. I JUST WISH IT WAS A LITTLE LONGER. THESE GUYS SURE BRING BACK A LOT OF GOOD MEMORIES. A WINNER!!!

Summary: UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Review: This dvd has got to be better than actually being at the concert. The DTS sound is amazing. This was like actually having the eagles in my living room doing a private concert. If you don't have a home theater surround sound system...buy one before you watch this...you won't regret it!

Summary: Smooth soft rock
Review: I think the Amazon reviewer has it about right. This show doesn't feel like a "reunion" or a "nostalgia" event at all; it's just a good show, and the boys look like they never stopped playing in the first place. They're in complete control of the material, and all the songs go down smooth. The visuals are good, the sound is good, and Don Henley's self-importance is little more than a minor irritant. If you like the Eagles' music, or if you're like me and can get into most types of music shows, as long as they're good, you'll enjoy this DVD.

Summary: Boring, Monotonous
Review: Maybe if you REALLY love the Eagles you can stomach the bordom of old guys sitting playing electric guitars with the same monotonous heavy drum beat, but compared to other concerts on DVD, it was bad. The only upside was the accurate fidelity of the instruments, but you pay a high price that accuracy. Skip this one.

Summary: good if your diehard into them
Review: If you have all their albums, know all their lyrics, then maybe this is for you, but if your like me, and have heard about 5-6 of their radio songs throughout your life, then you might not like their other stuff. I thought this was WAY SLOW! And way boring. ZZZZZzzzzzzz Not only were the songs soppy slow, but the band was too: they sat on chairs! This reminded me of one of the bad bands you see playing in a casino bar lounge at 2:30 am in the morning in Vegas. Don't get me wrong, slow is not always bad, For example, I think fleet wood mack is way better at this genre. This is just sick, bring a pillow

Summary: THE BEST SOUND YET
Review: Short and sweet - I'm not a HUGE Eagles fan, but this DVD has the best sound of any concert DVD I've heard yet, and the production is flawless. Those were the reasons I wanted it initially, a good use of the home theatre system.
That being said, I now watch it for the masterfull performance put on by the Eagles. What a fantastic group of musicians, and what a great concert. If you're thinking about buying it, just do it. You'll be happy with every aspect of this DVD.
