Rating: Summary: Wow. Review: I listen to alot of music from all genres...but this one so totally blew me away that I started start telling everyone I knew just to get the CD and the DVD and experience it. It's simply a must have for any music collection. His voice is so breathtakingly amazing that it actually made me cry. And that was just when I heard the CD. I then immediately ordered up the DVD and found it to be even better. The music is awesome, the cinematography is great, he looks cute as ever, but his voice simply outshines everything. It's just the most amazing voice ever. I want more.
Rating: Summary: Josh Groban and Friends at their Best! Review: We can celebrate this release of this incredible Josh Groban concert in all of it's digital glory! I must disagree with others and say the Angie Stone as a duet for "The Prayer" really makes this concert special. She brings a soulful and loving rendition of the song to this compilation, and I say it is the BEST duet I have seen with Mr. Groban. Ms. Church has her angelic version of the song, but Ms. Stone pulls amazing depth from her gospel background and brings us a version that grabs you by the heart and soul! Thank you Josh for choosing Angie for the part! Five stars for the concert and CD!
Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware Seller Not Fair! Review: I bought this Dvd because I love Josh Grobans music. The seller I purchased it from was Seleneaurora. On the list for this supplier it said the Dvd was new. When it arrived I open the cellophane wrapper it came in and put it straight into the Dvd player. Great music but, When Josh goes to sing the song vincent right after he starts it there is a flaw on the Dvd I got from my supplier and it sounds like a vhs tape that is being played and fast forwarded at the same time. I don't think I will ever purchase another product from this supplier. Overall I am not pleased with this supplier. I feel that they sent me a Dvd that on their site said it was new but actually was a factory second. I feel as though I was mislead.
Rating: Summary: Incredible!!! Review: This DVD is amazing! Breathtaking! The concert itself is great. Awesome choreography, great special guests (Including John Williams, Angie Stone, and Lili Haydn), two bonus songs, and everything else that a Grobanite (or anyone else, for that matter) could wish for! Special features are awesome, and the fact that it's available in DTS.....WOW!!! The bonus CD that comes with it is great! They thought of everything! The only thing I could have wished for in the special features was the To Where You Are music video, but other than that, a true must have!!! :)
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT! Review: Every woman I know, of every age, falls in love with this kid's voice. My daughter has been a fan since his first appearance on Allie McBeal, so I gave her the dvd for Chirstmas and she was THRILLED. Josh is amazing, as always, though I agree with the other reviewers: Angie Stone was not a good match and Lili Hayden was delightful. I found the video graphics a little distracting--rose petals, swirls, flashes of light; it was much nicer when the screens were used to create a "place" background, as they did on "Let Me Fall". All things considered, a very enjoyable evening and a dvd well worth having.
Rating: Summary: Just remember to breathe.... Review: The orchestrations are lovely, and Josh Groban's voice is hauntingly beautiful - warm and resonant. One of...well, really, the only...CD or DVD I've ever bought that I can happily listen to again and again. The backstage scenes and 'Making of...' footage give a glimpse of a "cool boy-next-door" who seems as surprised as anyone by his own talent and resulting celebrity. Josh Groban's rare gift and personable, down-to-earth demeanor combine for a breathtaking debut CD and Live performance DVD.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Golden Voice! Review: I never paid attention to any of this young singers till I heard Josh Groban sing and it just blew me away. What a concert, I wish I had known I would have wanted to see it live. What is different about this young man is the rare quality of his voice. You need not see all kinds of distracting stage visuals or back up dancers to appreciate the songs. The voice and the songs will truly mesmerize you. My whole family treasures this DVD, worth every dollar.
Rating: Summary: 5 stars for Josh G, 3.5 overall for their choice of "pairs" Review: First, this young man is almost overwhelming. I truly enjoyed this and his previous CD performances. So much voice maturity, clarity, and poise for a man so young> Excellent sound and production quality to the DVD.Ok, here's where I try to remain tactful: their choice of Angie Stone to accompany him on "the Prayer" was an overwhelmingly bad one. Her thin, tinny, voice may be fine for pop and r&b-- she has a marginal voice at best. However, to pair her with his resonant voice was not only unfair to her, but a real disservice to the song, performance, and the audience. I have a feeling that I will pop in the CD whenever I get to this duet and listen to Groban and Charlotte Church while watching the video. Also, his rendition of Oh Holy Night is really incredibly moving. Why is it not on the DVD? Sheesh, I'd like to meet the producer/editors who made these calls! Buy it anyway, but I'll bet many share my disappointment on those points.
Rating: Summary: Superb Review: I was bowled over by the whole concert. I agree with many of the other reviewers that Angie Stone, although a great singer, was not in the same league as her predecessor. I also don't like Josh's version of The Prayer with Charlotte Church, as he has to transpose the song. However, this does not detract from a fantastic, superb show. Need I say anymore?
Rating: Summary: His voice sounds even better on this Dvd. Review: How do we explain the appeal of Josh Groban?.It's the voice that astonishes, mesmerizes, and transcends.I had expected little from the concert .Was I ever wrong. It is refreshing to see how Josh seems to display this sense of "I can't believe this is really happening to me" all during the concert. His fans cheer, and applaud loudly during the concert, but you never get the feeling that Josh is anything if not astonished himself that people are there to listen to his extraordinary voice. The production values are very high on this DVD, from the lighting, imagery on projection screens, and his many special guests."The Prayer", which I have seen many times on TV, is by now a classic. The new approach he takes with Angie Stone is refreshing and very moving.I have watched this DVD repeatedly and never tire of the music. For this is the appeal of the DVD.The sound on it is spectacular and you will notice this right away. Treat yourself, take your shoes off, sit back and enjoy. You will feel like you are sitting in the audience of the Pasadena Civic Auditorium watching Josh perform. The performance is that good.
