Rating: Summary: Good, but... Review: I agree that the mixing on the vocals is awful. The music is otherwise, great, as I'm a rabid Rush fan.The Boys in Brazil documentary is okay, but it has too much of Alex clowning around for my tastes. Also, the Spinal Tap-esque "soup" joke was dumb and overdone. Just show me what it's like to be on tour, don't try to do Spinal Tap.
Rating: Summary: Bad Mixing Review: I've been waiting for this DVD for almost two months and I couldn't have been more dissapointed. The mix on the Geddy Lee's mic is awful. I've changed settings on the audio menu on both the DVD player and the audio options on the DVD. My advice is do NOT waste your money on this, even if you are a huge RUSH fan like me. The sound engineers have slain one of the greatest bands of our time.
Rating: Summary: By-Tor Location Review: DVD #2, In the Documentary about the Boys in Brazil, the scene when Alex Lifeson is talking about By-Tor and how he hasn't played it in a while and how he was thrilled to be finally playing it again and you see the movie in the background of some concert footage, hit the enter key. That's how I found it but haven't found Anthem........yet!
Rating: Summary: Just bought the DVD today Review: I am a 19 year old rush fan, since i was 6 i began listening to my dads rush cds, i my first ever concert was to see rush in las cruces NM... after seeing this DVD is can only think of one word.. AWESOME A MUST HAVE FOR ANY RUSH FAN
Rating: Summary: Rush in Rio is EXCELLENT!!!! Review: Alright, I bought the DVD today, and just finished watching them both. It is awesome, period. The sound is great, and the video is crystal clear. If you saw this show live, do yourself a favor and get this DVD. You will remember your experience forever with this one!! If you aren't too familiar with Rush, but like good musicianship, this is a must have. This one is in my collection permenantly. My favorite part, was seeing how many lives Rush has touched worldwide. Not just with their music, but with their socially conscious lyrics as well. It was beautiful to see how happy everyone was to see them. Rock on Rush!! It's more then just great music!!
Rating: Summary: THANK YOU RUSH AND CREW FOR THIS GREAT DVD!!! Review: As a 42 year young but balding Rush fan since the mid 70's, I have been wishing as of late for a professionally sanctioned DVD from the band. Not only is this DVD as professional as a live concert DVD can get, the bonus material Rush documentary is refreshing and entertaining as all heck! If you like Rush, this is their DEFINITIVE video release so far!!! The audio quality on the DVD is OUTSTANDING, even satisfying an audiophile like me. The mix is crisp and well defined, and the video quality, camera shots, and editing is truly top notch too. The 'Rushumentary' Rush documentary on disc 2 is FUN and entertaining as well, as we are allowed many informal lighthearted glimpses of the guys backstage, during sound checks, and during their stay in South America in general! My only minor issue is that I nerve wrackingly cannot find the 2 extra secret features on this DVD, mainly the 'By-Tor movie', and 'Anthem 1975'! It doesn't help that my DVD remote does not work too well. Would someone PLEASE post how to specifically access these parts? And what is the significance of the 'Easter Eggs' on the back of the box cover?
Rating: Summary: Almost as good as seeing them live. Review: I was fortunate enough to win an advance copy of this DVD and it is great. The show is as expected and sounds excellent...they are all on their game for this one. Disc two is fun...the documentary is entertaining and the cuts of Neil warming up put to doubt that he is one of the best drummers ever. It shows the lighthearted side of these guys - Alex and Geddy in particular. The extras are cool (at least By-Tor is, now I need to find Anthem 1975). It's all around just a great concert with fun extras. If you are a fan of good rock and concerts - buy this, if you are a fan of Rush you should already have it by now.
Rating: Summary: Hidden treats in DVD. Review: I also found the hidden treats in this DVD. Vintage stuff from mid-70's show Alex trading licks with Michael Schenker and Uli Roth in Europe. This alone is awesome!!!!! The concert kicks arse as well. Enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Rush DVD As Loud As The Show!! Review: I picked up my Rush in Rio DVD and CD today, and my first impression is it is LOUD. This isnt a bad thing. I saw Rush for the first time last year in Pittsburgh, the show was that good that we drove to Cleveland to see it again indoors. After both shows, my ears rang for days. This is true after viewing the DVD. I personally can't imagine sitting down, hearing the material at a moderate level. They are a loud band live, and the DVD does justice to that. On a side note, those fans in Rio were the most agressive (in a good way) that I have ever seen. The enegry clearly resonates with the band. Watching it, I couldnt help but get the ocassional chill. The behind the scenes stuff is very neat. I couldnt find any of the hidden stuff though. Instructions are included on my copy to tell you how to find them. My first time through was no good. This is a must for any fan who has felt the enegry live. This concert, unlike any other video Rush has released, gives you a feeling like you're there. The Taurus pedals will shake your house, the drums sound like gun fire, the bass punches you in the face, and the guitars will leave your ears on fire. Get this DVD.
Rating: Summary: I actually seen it!!!! Review: I was able to get it a couple of days early and am happy the long wait is over. I was worried I would be let down due to my high expectations about this release. I was not let down at all. The video is clear and the sound is great. The second disk documentary is also entertaining. I don't feel that the editing was too fast like in the Kiss Symphony and Maiden's Rock in Rio. To me the editing flows with the songs. The faster the song the faster the editing. Also, though I like to see the crowd getting into the music the editor did not over do it like in the new Kiss dvd. If any thing the enthusiasm of the crowd adds to the whole experience. Drummers are going to enjoy the 3 multiangle clips and watching only Neil Peart. The only thing I don't like is having to look for the bonus material. I found the By-Tor video but am still looking for the Anthem 1975.
