Rating: Summary: One of a kind Review: Roy Orbison is surrounded by a cast of fans who are musical stars in their own right, and the result is magic. Classics like Only The Lonely and Dream Baby never sounded so good. The finale of Pretty Woman is one you'll crank up and listen to over and over. It doesn't hurt to have Roy's timeless voice with backup singers like K.D. Land, Bonnie Raitt and Jennifer Warnes. Add to that Springsteen, Jackson Browne, Elvis Costello and Tom Waits having a blast playing along and this musical Dream Team scores a slam dunk. Buy this DVD and turn it up! You gotta believe Roy's smilin' down at us. Thanks Roy.
Rating: Summary: who is? Review: this is a great music video if you love the big O and a touchof blues with the boss, tom waits, and elvis costello and othershelping out in what makes an excellent night out.
Rating: Summary: Maybe the best dvd concert I own. Review: Taking aside that this concert is a tribute to a rock'n'roll legend and that the ensemble that plays with him is a dream team of pop and rock stars, I should also praise the outstanding B&W video quality, which gives this disc a timeless look. Moreover, this gem has superb audio quality and includes the lyrics, if you press the subtitle function. The band (B. Springsteen, Elvis Costello, James Burton, Alex Acuna, Jackson Brown, Ronnie Tutt, T-Bone Burnett, Tom Waits et al. Nuff said?), the back up singers (Bonnie Raitt, K.D.Lang and Jennifer Warnes) and the director are having a lot of fun sharing the stage with this unique singer/composer who can whisper, in an almost operatic way his heart- breaking songs and still make us feel his delivery as strong as any modern day rocker. A great contributing factor for the beauty of this concert is that all the musicians and singers involved in this tribute let Orbison be the star and act as if they were a professional band hired for the ocassion, although it's inevitable to feel the worship attitude that everybody has here and that adds very well to the result. Buy this!
Rating: Summary: Great DVD Review: This was awesome! I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys seeing and hearing great music being played by some of the best artist of the 20th Century
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Fantastic, The Big "O" Review: The audio and video quality of this DVD is unsurpassed. The DTS soundtrack is crystal clear, in fact, the best I have ever heard, and the black and white footage do it justice. My only wish was that 64 minutes was not enough.
Rating: Summary: An absolute must buy! Review: This is the best of Roy and the best of Rock & Roll. Incredible collection of artists are with him on this one. Guitar solos in middle of songs are a knock-out. The music and the sound is the best thing that can happen to your DVD player. You won't see a classic cast of recording stars like this one again. Buy it!
Rating: Summary: You must have this video! Review: I just watched this absolutely awesome DVD. I was completely blown away. The sound in DTS is stunning, and the video extremely well done. I had seen it on TV when it was first broadcast, but it pales by comparison to this DVD rendition. A pure hour of audio and video enjoyment. This disk is a must have for any fan of Roy Orbison or true Rock and Roll.
Rating: Summary: Review Review: I have just finished viewing this on my home setup. It has outstanding sound, and with the two rear channels carrying different sound signals you really feel you are in the middle of the audience. The sound moves well around all five channels. The guitar sequence in "Pretty Woman" is a highlight, although everything is outstanding. Black and White really adds to rather than takes away from this concert.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: This dvd was absolutely terrific. With dts encoding the sound was great. All the stars in the concert were a great addition, though I must confess I didn't recognize them all and needed the credits to find out who they were.
Rating: Summary: outstanding with recording technigues ahead of its time Review: This is absolutely the best DTS encoded music DVD I have had the pleasure of hearing. Can't believe that the background female singers are K.D. Lang, Bonnie Raitt, and the wonderful Jennifer Warnes. Recorded in digital format which was really ahead of its time and allowed DTs processing to be done, it is truly a pleasure to listen to. If you're not an Orbison fan this should make you one. The sonic clarity and feeling of being actually there is incredible. It is especially good viewed on large screen with high quality surround speakers. I am eagerly awaiting more DTS encoded musical performances by other artists.
