Rating: Summary: A Must Buy Review: Even if you were not a huge Maiden fan in the 80s this DVD is really worth getting. This is not another run of the mill documentary, but a well informed doc that highlights the Number of the Beast album from beginning to end. The storys behind the songs, the interviews, and the never before seen footage will make this a staple in your DVD player. The sneek peek at the new Rock in Rio DVD IM is putting out is worth the money alone. It was also nice to see old drummer Clive Burr, and I was saddened by his illness. Our prayers go out to you Clive "up the hammers"
Rating: Summary: Wherever you are this DVD will going to get you ! Review: Good material about one of the most incredible band we have. Two decades later Iron Maiden still have new fans, and those new fans must take a look at this amazing album "The Number of the Beast". This DVD helps you to understand a bit o Maiden way to top. Nice interviews and some extra bonus chapters (like the cut of Hallowed by the Name live on Rock in Rio III) make this an excellent Maiden material
Rating: Summary: maiden still rules Review: hi every one,its me again moran from israel i recently bought the dvd and didnt realy liked it im a fan of maiden for about 11 years now and i already got everything of maidens stuff. the dvd is really empty of content part of a few moments of greatness!!!the whole studio scenes are a total fake dave mustaine is shown on every corner of the dvd (which is a good one) i love maiden so if u do too focus on the rest of their stuff sorry everyone iron maiden still rocks!!!
Rating: Summary: I thought it was great!! Review: I have been a maiden fan for a while myself and I truly digged this dvd. Its great to see these boys interviewed on the album that struck the gold mine for them. Seeing Steve and Bruce add a bit of humor in their discussion was very cool, as well as hearing Dave and Adrian talk about the album. Funny accent Murray has going on there, but its all good since he is a guitar god, and seeing Clive Burr their former drummer interviewed as well, I thought was remarkable, I hope he comes over his disease. Even Nicko Mcbrain was interviewed, since he was dressed as one of the devil's in the # of the beast vid, funny stuff. Too bad Gers wasnt interviewd on his thoughts of the album since its one of his favorite albums, but I think the interviews were really just for all of those featured on the album's play, musically as well as all in it at that time. Dave Mustaine being interviewed was cool too, since maiden was one of his main influences as well as the Deth boys, he gives a little piece on what he thinks about the band. At the end of the disc, it has features that tell you a bit about Maiden's manager Rod Smallwood, as well as the twin guitarists at that time, and the short message for clive, as well as seeing smith play a bit of # of the beast and children of the damned. The closing shows a glimpse of Maiden's upcoming live dvd Rock in Rio, features the song Hallowed be thy name with the 3 guitar attack. Funny how someone talked trash about Gers, yet talks about how amazing the Rock in RIo song was played as well as the upcomming dvd, while Gers plays on the vid as well as doing Smith's original solo, which I dont mind, because as fast and as raw as the song was being played, Gers fit the que and did outstanding, smith wouldnt have been able to play that fast since he is not much of a dreader, he is still an amazing guitarist too of course. Anyway this dvd is worth owning whether you know about all the info or not about the album, this is the story about the album as well as the singer that made Maiden become Metal Gods. UP THE IRONS!!!
Rating: Summary: Iron Maiden Rules!! Up the rions! Review: I have been in the Iron Maiden camp, so to speak, for years! This DVD is KILLER!! The insider's view of the recording of this tremendous album is very insightful, and incredible. The album istself was, and is, a tiumph!! This DVD is worth the purchase price by anyone who is interested in I.M. or just loves them for who they are. Top honors to this band and the music, yes, music that they make!! "Up the irons"!!
Rating: Summary: Good Stuff Review: I thought this was a very in depth examination of one of the greatest metal albums ever made. The extras are cool too. Adrian Smith shows the chord progressions of a few of the classics. Well Done....
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly good! Review: I was really hesitant to buy this. I thought it was going to be a bunch of videos I'd already seen, with a tiny amount of interviews that would bore me. It turned out to be really worth the money. The interviews were very interesting......not the same (...) you read in magazines. There was concert footage I'd never seen before. The coolest part was watching Martin Birch mixing some of the old songs from the record. It's fascinating to hear individual tracks solo'd out. Adrian Smith also plays for you a little. All in all, this is worth buying if you're an Iron Maiden fan. I wish VH1 would do a "Behind The Music" episode on this legendary band. They seem like great guys, and I think it would make for good TV....
Rating: Summary: classic maiden Review: It was only a week ago when I found out about this DVD. As a Maiden fanatic, there wasn't much on here that I didn't already know. However, for anyone who isn't all that familiar with the the band, this gives a great insightful view of what Iron Maiden is about. The real bonus on this DVD is the concert footage from Rock'n'Rio with the performance of Hallowed Be Thy Name. It is what a fan would expect from Maiden and I can't wait until the full DVD of this comes out. I highly recommend this DVD for anyone who has and loves this album, whether a fan or not. This is a collector's item.
Rating: Summary: Fun to watch Review: It's fun to watch a band talk about one of your favorite albums or certain parts of their career. I would've liked to seen more on Paul Di'anno but at least they have him on there singing for about 10 seconds. The "message from clive burr" is ultimately a gimmick when u read the chapter list cos all it is is a 30 second spot that says "clive burr wants you to know he has..." and shows a slow motion shot of him drumming. He does look a little frail throughtout the dvd. Megadeth's Dave Mustaine is also on this dvd praising Maiden...and a little comical at times explaining how cool they are. Being an American, it took some getting used to listening to about 10 people all with english accents! (especially Dave Murray! don't talk please, just play the guitar-ha ha). A good dvd, could've been better. The Metallica classic album DVD is waaaay better. This one buy only if your a die hard fan or want to relive the glory days... like me!
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: Its a pleasure to watch the lads reflect on the breaking point of there career. Alot of great footage from a 1982 hammersmith show. Some cool footage of Bruce with Samson live. Interviews with Martin Birch and Rod Smallwood provide even more insight. Most of the tales I've heard many times. But like I said its neat to seem the gleam in there eyes and the laughs that come out of there mouths when rehashing the past.
