Summary: Great background for the true Sublime fan.
Review: All kinds of cool footage of the crew. Wardo (road crew member) tells great stories of the road. Eric and Bud give ensite to the band that I have not seen anywhere. Kelly Vargas the least known of the Sublime drummers appears in this vid. (which is cool, because him and Eric now are out touring in their new band Long Beach Shortbus). Also Zman of Corn Doggy Dog & The Half Pound (get the album Good Clean Filth which guests Bud and Eric on a hillarious remake of Black Sabbath's Iron Man) give a great lecture in his odd ball lexicon. Also of interrest is Ross and Trey (now in Long Beach Shortbus) doing a guitar only version of the Falling Idols song they wrote and Sublime covered (Check out the Falling Idols live reunion matterial on the Long Beach Records' comp "When Punkers Were Punk and Parents Were Scared". It also has two Shortbus songs on it.) Anyways this video is a must have if you want to try to understand Sublime and its legacy.

Summary: All things Sublime are now bittersweet
Review: And this video is no exception. I could not watch this video without the constant recurring thought of, "What a tragedy! Brad Nowell died too young." He was such a great talent and he seemed to have so much soul.

On a more critical note, this video could have used a better editor. Some of the footage on this video isn't much better than what you would get from the average hand-held VHS recorder. And some of the stories seem to ramble a bit, lack focus, and to be about things that just don't seem very pertinent.

This video is at its best when it is focused on people telling stories about Brad Nowell, as opposed to the seemingly endless stories of life on the road. One story that is interesting is Gwen Stefani's story about her work dueting with Brad on the song "I Saw Red." In this video she comments that he seemed really nervous about the duet (this was before either of them were famous). The other moving account is given by Brad's widow. She tells the story of the time that Brad's dog, the famous "Lou Dog" dalmation that graces many Sublime covers and even makes its way into the lyrics of a few Sublime songs, got lost. She tells how Brad was heartbroken and laid on the couch and cried for days.

Okay, there is one story that is not focused on Brad but that I found fun anyway. It is the story of their time in Portland, Oregon, and the "encounter" they had with a certain restaurant in north east Portland. You'll have to watch this video to hear the story. But I found it funny because I used to eat at the restaurant in question. It was a little hard to eat there again after having heard this story. Another great story is told about the time they toured with schizophrenic singer Wesley Willis. But that is yet another one you will have to hear from the video (I think it would get edited out by the administrators of this site if I told it here). There is also an interview with the famous/infamous Ron Jeremy. Ron talks about meeting the guys from the band and how he ended up being in the "Date Rape" video.

This video would have benefitted from more footage of Brad Nowell himself and less footage from people none of us have heard of. There is very little footage of Brad himself aside from live footage of him performing (and boy is he chubby in some of the footage [not complimented by his love of performing shirtless in almost every live scene shown here]). But that's Brad in his full humanity. He really seemed to have been a beautiful soul, and it's a shame we lost him before most of us even knew him.

Oh, okay...I also feel a spiritual connection with his work, along the lines of the way you hear people talk about Cobain and Lennon. Brad "spoke" to me. Which, like I said, can only make this video, and all things Sublime, a little bittersweet.

Summary: All The Songs Need to be full length
Review: Good DVD Loved the Preformances. Ecept there is one probem only about 75% of them are in full-length form. So for this reason this tape gets 3 starrs. I've seen many people consider this video a documintary, well I think this DVD is more about the music I mean don't get me wrong there is a great deal of documintary information on the Band, it's just that well on this DVD there seems to be more muscic rather than documintation. I Also like how the director of this film videoized some of the live preformances.

Summary: Good video
Review: I agree with the other reviewer that this dvd is for hardcore sublime fans. There is a lot of talking with people other than the band and some of the stuff said was not very interesting. This was after brads death of course so he isnt in very much of the interveiw part. But it does have about 50 minutes of music from concerts and other stuff so it was worth it to me to buy it.oh yeah, ron jeremy is in it so that makes it a little more enjoyable. If you are a big fan you will like it.

Summary: Very touching...makes me glad I love Sublime!!
Review: I think this video is great for anyone who loves sublime or wants to know more...There's a bunch of stories from Gwen Stefani (as well as a few preformances w/ her and ND)Pennywise, Troy, Ron Jeremy...the list goes on. It really makes me realize how great Brad was and how sad that it is that he's gone. It's good for any collector or fan and well worth the price, although it's not HIGH quality, it's LONG and filled with alot of good stories.

Summary: Stories Tales lies and exagerations, best music dvd anywhere
Review: If you are at all intereseted in the southern cal sound of Sublimeor LBDAS, YOu must get this DVD. It has many clips of live shows from around the country as well as containing a track of Doin' Time with The Phar Side doing overdubs which I've not heard anywhere else. The DVD is worth it for that track alone. Do yourself a favor, buy this DVD.

Summary: Best all around
Review: If you love Sublime I guarantee you will love this documentary. Bradley was already deceased once this was made, so the only clips you'll see (of him)are pre-recorded. You'll see all of Sublime's friends telling their stories, tales, lies, and exaggerations--no joke! Such as comments from The Ziggens(they rock-check em out!), Falling Idols, former Sublime members Eric, Bud and Miguel, No Doubt and ALL KINDS OF PEOPLE! And what's a Sublime video without Lou dog! The video clips are great because they are live--not the lame edited videos on MTV. I would suggest getting the DVD, if you have the option. That way you can just choose where in the documentary you want to go. Its a really long story, but if you are a true Sublime fan, you won't be able to get enough! I was VERY SATISFIED with this documentary. I'm sure you will be too. If you want to hear bands that are inspired by Sublime and bands alike check out Slightly Stoopid, The Expendables, and The Ziggens.
