Summary: Disappointing Video and Audio Quality
Review: While the music itself of Lynyrd Skynyrd is among my favorite's of all time, the quality of the production on this DVD is really low rate. Almost all of the video samples on Freebird are fairly poor, and the audio at times is not much better.

Also, the menu design on this dvd is HORRIBLE. Very difficult to navigate. Overall, the dvd's are priced low as they should be. Unbelievable performances by Skynyrd, you can't argue with excellence.. but do not expect top notch production quality on this dvd.

Summary: What song is it you want to hear????
Review: I bought this VHS tape expecting a movie about the band, that is not what Freebird The Movie is. What you get is some incredible video tape of the band in various concerts from dates in 1976 to 1977. Most of the tape is from an Open Air Rock show that Skynyrd played in England. While most of the tape is in color, there are some parts that are in black and white, believe it or not that does not really detract from this film. The band plays 15 songs on this tape, they are as follows: Workin For MCA, I Ain't The One, Saturday Night Special, Searching, What's Your Name, Whiskey Rock-A-Roler, Travelin Man, Gimmie Three Steps, That Smell, Gimmie Back My Bullets, Cry For The Bad Man, Call Me The Breeze, T For Texas, Sweet Home Alabama and Freebird of course. The song Simple Man plays as the credits roll. There are interviews with band members (live and dead) family and frynds between most of the songs. While this tape does not tell the history of Lynyrd Skynyrd the band (for that look for the VH1 Behind The Music episode) or the terrible accident that happened to them on that October day 1977 it does catch them in all their splendor, both tragic and glorious all at once. There is indoor BW footage taken from New Jersey and from San Francisco, CA. The outdoor open air footage from England and from A Day On The Green in Oakland, CA is wonderful, flawless footage with spectacular sound. The segment from Oakland was filmed only 2 months before the crash, it will make you cry...be warned. From comparing the England footage against that of Oakland it is clear America has better looking girls (even in 70's duds) and better dentists. Two of the three surviving members have reformed the band and added Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlock of Blackfoot fame and one of the founders of the band The Outlaws...the Three Guitar Attack Lives! Let hope that the future for Lynyrd Skynyrd is filled with as much good fortune as the past was filled with bad fortune. Good film a steal at this price.

Summary: Play It Pretty ForXFrom Wherever you Are!
Review: Lynyrd Skynyrd is the best Rock Band ever and this movie on DVD attests to it. My thanks to those who saw fit to release it on DVD and at such a reasonable price. My Father asked me 25 years ago during High School how I could keep listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd over and over. Well guess what? It's 25 years later and I still play them almost every day and now I'm enjoying the visuals on DVD as well!!!! God Bless Ronnie Van Zant and the collective Skynyrd Family and Frynds!!!

Summary: A Great Bargain for Skynyrd Fans!
Review: When I purchased this DVD, I couldn't believe that you could get two movies on one DVD for such a low price. I'm telling you, this is a must for every Lynyrd Skynyrd fan. It has the excellent "Freebird..the Movie" biography, followed by the hard-to-find "Tribute Tour" documentary. Starting off, the package itself is attractive, with a nice 1977 group photo etched on the disk itself. Both movies are excellent copies with great sound. Again, this is a must for Skynyrd die-hards, and it is very reasonably priced.

Summary: Remembered
Review: One of the best bands ever. Had seen the part of the footage on VH1 or something years ago and it reminded me once again of what might have been. If you're a Skynyrd fan you'll love it, if you're not you soon will be. Only bad thing I can say about it is the fact that they had someone on the cameras that thought we'd care more about the halter tops than about the phenomenal electrics on stage. And yes Ron, Steve, Cassie, we remember....

Summary: Opinion of Freebird the Movie / Tribute Tour
Review: I've been waiting for this moment of Freebird the Movie & Lynyrd Skynyrd's Tribute Tour to be released onto DVD, and both of these films on one DVD go real well with one another, because It tells an excellent story from when Ronnie Van Zant sung in the group, and after his untimely death up til his youngest brother Johnny became the lead singer to carry on the spirit of Lynyrd Skynyrd. We'll never forget you Ronnie,Allen,Steve,Cassie & Leon!!!!

Summary: 6 STARS, 6 BIG GREASY SOUTHERN FRIED FLAG WAVING STARS!!
Review: I cried. Not really, but I should have. I saw this the first time on VH1. My heart skipped a beat. The movie doesn't dwell on the accident or any post '77 stuff. Basically it just talks about the glory days of rock n roll, 1973-1977. AWESOME video of concerts, mostly from Oaklands Day At the Green (which my dad was actually at). Skynyrd is the greatest band ever. If you disagree, watch this movie and be baptised by the sonic bombash that is Skynyrd. 2 gibsons (a les paul and a FIREBIRD!!!) a strat, a crazy drummer, a piano (!!!!!), a biker looking bass player (RIP), and one of the best song writers and singers EVER!!!

Ronnie asked "If i leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?" I think this video answers that question. HELL YEAH!
