Summary: Don't waste your money.
Review: This was the most disappointing DVD I've purchased in a while. Dylan's drummer Mickey Jones spends a huge majority of the film talking more about himself than anything to do with the 1966 tour. The first half hour is him talking about his life in excruciating boring detail before he even met Dylan. The footage is useless. There are very few actual shots of Dylan playing or otherwise, and most of it is of the "this was the view from my hotel room" variety. There is no audio of Dylan and the Hawks. All the music is performed by a tribute band called Highway 61 Revisited. Basically this is a self-indulgent vehicle for Mickey Jones to talk for an hour and a half and offer absolutely no new insight into what is one of the most interesting stories in rock history. In my opinion it's a complete waste of time. It seems to me that he is trying to cash in on the fact that Eat the Document (the DA Pennebaker documentary about the tour) was never released and is duping people (like me) into thinking this is something comparable. It's not. Unless you want to hear an egomaniac ramble about nothing, don't buy it. (I am not referring to a bootleg. I bought it at a local record store. It's widely available.)

Summary: Please,please,please....
Review: I beg you, do not buy this DVD. I am 14 and a huge bob dylan fan, i spent 4 months allowance on this DVD, and cried at the end from sheer disapointment.I beg you not to buy this DVD,I wish I'd read these reviews before I bought it because then I would have realized what a scam it is.There is no sound whatsoever on the footage and 4 shots of bob dylan (only one with him actually in motion picture, the rest are photographs).I beg you not to buy this,I agree that the picture on the front is incredibly misleading. It really is life through the eyes of a fat guy on holiday (he should really say 'oh, and look, this is where we saw bob dylan walking on some grass'- that is literally the only video shot of him).

PLEASE DON'T BUY THIS, YOU WILL BE VERY DISAPOINTED.

Summary: If you are a Mickey Jones fan, watch this movie
Review: This is such a waste of time if you are interested in Bob Dylan. It has almost no Bob Dylan footage/music, and about half the movie is about the tourist attractions that the Band visited. There should be a big picture of Mickey Jones sitting in a chair on the cover. There's no music!

Summary: I HAVE TO AGREE
Review: I am a hard core Dylan fan, as well as many of these people who bought this dvd and wrote a review. And, I just have to say "I just don't get it." After seeing Don't Look Back and wanting to see more of Dylan in concert I too was lured in by World Tour 1966.
Not to take anything away from Jones, but this was just plain boring. I kept fast forwarding to get to the good stuff untill my wife asked me to turn it off 'cause she didn't want to listen to a fat guy talk any more. HEY MICKEY HOW "BOUT A REFUND?

Summary: Excellent Companion
Review:
This DVD is an excellent companion to the Royal Albert Hall concert CD. This is not a performance video but rather a look behind the scenes during that tour.

To watch this DVD and listen to the Royal Albert Hall concert CD is a must for people who want to understand what made Dylan so special.

The people who are calling this DVD rubbish and giving it 1 start don't get it. Real Bob Dylan fans and fans of rock history should pick it up along with the concert CD.

4 stars - my only regret is that you have to purchase the concert CD of the Royal Albert Hall show seperate. I think they should bundle the 2.

Summary: Not a concert video in spite of the title
Review: Upon its release, this 90-minute DVD was heavily criticised by fans, who felt that a DVD with the words "World Tour 1966" in the title should contain at least some concert footage. (It does, but without sound.)
But "Word Tour 1966" is (sadly) not a concert video. It is a collection of primitive silent home movie clips, some of which actually include Bob Dylan in the frame. They were taken by drummer Mickey Jones, who also provides narration. And he does a pretty good job, actually, providing insights and little anecdotes, usually without getting boring.

Jones has a fair amount of reasonably interesting stories, including why Dylan decided to separate his sets into acoustic and electric ones, the musicians' reaction to people booing the electric sets, and other trivia of interest (solely) to Dylan fanatics. The image quality of the home movies is good considering their age, and while the scenes from those clips are not too interesting in and of themselves, they make a pretty good backdrop for Jones' narratives.
But still...this is a bit of a sham, really. The title certainly promises a lot more than it delivers, and most people won't need this at all.
2 1/2 stars. Only for diehards.

Summary: Who is that fat guy with funny hair and beard??!!??
Review: I watched about 5 minutes of this DVD and I said to my buddy "It can't all be like this... can it?" So we fast forwarded the fat guy footage in hope to catch a glimpse of Bobby D. But I was wrong it was that crappy!

Summary: Absolute rubish!
Review: This is not a video about Bob Dylan... I'm actually not sure what it is about... somebody's hollidays i guess. Stay away, it's absolute rubish

Summary: I'm glad that I only rented it
Review: Please read the many negative reviews listed on Amazon. Not only is the title of this DVD misleading as it does not involve any concert footage of Bob Dylan nor any music from the tour, but it provides limited insight regarding the 1966 tour.

Summary: What a waste of my money!
Review: This item does not even deserve one star, but that was the lowest rating I was allowed. I cannot believe & not knowing Bob's thoughts - as no one does, I don't think Bob would be pleased with his image and name being connected to this DVD. It is used to promote someone who, yes indeed was on tour with Bob & played drums for him. Great. But, it was BORING, rarely showed Bob, no concert footage of any value whatsoever. I am a great fan of Bob's & all that he does. He is a prophet, a genius & should be treated as such. I would have rather spent the money on anything other than this joke. Don't waste your money!
