Rating: Summary: Pretty Perfect! Review: This is a great DVD, but on a few videos, the picture quality isn't that great (ex., I Lost On Jeoperdy). But, it evens out, because some of his newer on es, like Gump are very clear. There has been some contreversy over the DVD-only release. I got a DVD player on Christmas, 2001, and until then, I felt cheated. The truth is that you can find them on VH1 sometimes (so you can tape them). There also are individual Al tapes (they have a video library, containing about his first about ten (videos), then 2 or 3 more, containing about 4 each. But, those together (they have every one in this DVD, except UHF) are a couple dollars less, and very bulky. There are some Weird Al videos that I don't like that much, as I'm sure there are for all his fans. On DVD, you don't have to manually fast foreward. If they released this on VHS, all of us would wear them out (That's why I don't see why the6y don't realese them on VHS only. They'd make extra $). This contains all Weird Al's videos, except It's All About The Pentiums, and The Saga Begins (Which can be seen on Weird Al Live!, his only concert video). Weierd Al Live! and this are basically all that is in the stores, videowise, from Weird Al. There is also a complainment aboput the special features. As a big Weird Al fan, I have all his behind the Music-type-stuff already taped, but It still stinks. Anyway, I have all these old beat up, worn down, taped off telivision tapes, so the DVD is great (mainly because it won't deteriorate over the years. I have seen this DVD over 50 times! Even though it's not perfect, I love sitting back and watching all but 2 of Weird Al's videos (72 mins.). They are still entertaining and fun. So stop complaining, the price is high, but It's worth it, and the video's look and sound better than ever.
Rating: Summary: Stop complaining Review: This is actually very cool. I am a huge "Weird Al" Yankovic fan, and I really think this is awesome. Of course it is only 74 minutes long (it would have been cool if they had stuck The Complete Al on here, too. I got this for fairly cheap when it came out, but if you don't want to pay the barbaric price for this disc, you can buy the individual tapes or, if they come on on VH1, tape that. The dvd isn't completely horrible. I've see all the behind the musics, so I don't need supplement. It would be cool if they could fit this, The Compleat Al, and "Weird Al" Live on one disc (probably double sided). But lets not complain about what we don't have. Lets feel happy for what we do have. You would have to look individuall for the following tapes The Weird Al Video Library, Bad Hair Day, and Alapalooza. Think about the space three video tapes take up compared to one dvd and it's case. It's uncomparable. Think of the quality. While some off the early ones may be very dull (Jeopardy), some of the newer ones go to lengths vhs could only dream of (Gump). The 2 interruptions. Self explanatory. Think of the wear and tear. For a guy like me who has literally seen this disc hundreds of times, it helps having dvd. Plus, the disc is easy to get to your desired song (without fast-forewarding or possibly switching tapes). Plus it just starts with Ricky. No commercials, no advertisements, nothing. Yes, it could be better. But I'm fine. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and feel free to leave me a hepful/not helpful feedback. God Bless America!
Rating: Summary: SPLIT MY SPLEEN Review: THIS IS DEFINETELY THE FUNNIEST DVD I HAVE EVER SEEN. I WAS LAUGHING FROM BEGINNING TO END. THIS MAN IS INCREDIBLY TALENTED. HE IS BY FAR THE GREATEST ARTIST OF ALL TIME. I WAS SO HAPPY WHEN I SAW THW TRIBUTE TO HIM ON VH-1'S 100 GREATEST VIDEOS. HE DESERVED HIS VIDEOS TO BE THERE BUT UNFORTUNATELY THEY WEREN'T. THANKYOU AL - YOU ROCK. KEEP WRITING SONGS, YOU SPLIT MY SPLEEN
Rating: Summary: Best Songs from Weird Al Review: This may not have songs like, "Yoda," "The Saga Begins," or "Pretty Fly for a Rabbi," but you should see him parody Michael Jackson and Madonna! But by far, the best music video on this, is "Amish Paradise". This is one of the best music videos ever made. Not a very good menu, with nothing to do but watch music videos, but who cares?! All you people who are whining about the menu, and not having restored the image on some of them, shut up! You call yourselves Weird Al fans?! You should be ashamed! There is not a single song on here that isn't worth having. . . .
Rating: Summary: AS FUN AS A HUNDRED "HARVEY THE WONDER HAMSTERS" Review: This video is very entertaining and contains a few videos that I had forgotten as well as a few I didn't even know existed. I had forgotten "Christmas at ground zero" and didn't know there was a video to "Jurassic Park". This is a MUST for any fan of the demented musician. There are more than twenty videos with such favorites as: "Fat", "UHF",and "Like a Surgeon". Also included are some of the lesser known tunes like:"You Don't Love Me Anymore", "Gump", and "One More Minute". Some of the videos have guest stars like Florence Henderson, Pat Boone, Ruth Buzzi, Dick Van Patten, and, of course, Dr. Demento; the man that helped make Al the famous man he is today. I only wish Al would make a video to every song. Well, every song except that one...
Rating: Summary: Proves the superiority of DVD Review: Those crying because it isn't on VHS: Please! Al looks better on DVD than he ever would on VHS. Get with the times! DVD is here to say, and bravo to Al for realizing that.
Rating: Summary: The Videos Are Great, But... Review: Weird Al is a genius and his videos are highly entertaining; however, the picture quality of this DVD is a real let-down and the blame can be placed on Image Entertainment. I own many DVDs including about six made by Image and one thing I, along with many others, have concluded is that Image just can't make DVDs. Hopefully someday a company that knows how to make DVDs will buy out Image and re-release all of Image's titles in an improved quality.
Rating: Summary: Very entertaining clips but could use DVD features better Review: Weird Al makes some great music video parodies. I recommend that you view the original clips before seeing the parodies, and you'll appreciate his greatness. The only one I had was "Beat It" on VideoCD (sadly, Bad wasn't on the same VCD), and even though I enjoyed "Eat It" when I first viewed it, I enjoyed it even more after I saw the original clip.Al's original songs may be even better than his parodies. They are more serious, in a silly way (I find it difficult to really describe this quality). They really grew on me. I've seen the clips many times, and I'm not tired of them yet. My only gripes with this title are with its usage of the DVD format. It provides the basics - the ability to select the clip to view - but that's it. I'd have liked to see a better menu (one that doesn't force you to skip 3 pages to get to one of the later clips), lyrics as subtitles (the optional subtitles are one of the best features of DVD for music videos, IMO), and extra features, such as info about Al, his works, and the clips. There certainly isn't a problem with space on that DVD - another 2GB could easily be fitted on it without even going to double layer.
