Rating: Summary: Talented artist with a great team, good DVD Review: Yankovic preys on naked kings of show business, on the no artists that have no business of being in that business, on those who sold self cheap or wasted talent chasing big bucks. He does this in positive manner, as positive as you can possibly do such job as cleaning up. Have to open up your mind pretty wide to enjoy his show, if you have a show biz idol, better leave it home to save it from some painful experience.
Rating: Summary: "Almost" Perfect, Except...... Review: First let me say that I LOVE Weird Al and his music. I've been a fan since the beginning. The concert on DVD was great, and the selection of songs was fantastic. I won't bore you by mentioning song titles, etc. which has already been done numerous times here. I have to mention a couple of things, however: Even though no one else has mentioned it here, it was obvious to me that many (or most?) of Al's vocals were lip-synched. The music, as well as the other band members' vocals are apparently live, but Al's vocals were noticeably "perfect" even when he moved slightly away from the mic. This was most obvious to me during "Like a Surgeon." Just watch when he rolls over, etc. They were not his studio vocals, but instead appear to have been recorded "live" for use in this show. The other (minor) problem is that there is a DVD defect (in 2 different copies that I tried, and no doubt in the whole production run), where the picture freezes for about a second at the end of "Smells Like Teen Spirit," one of my favorite tracks. It probably won't be serious enough for them to re-issue the disc, but it will bother the more particular of DVD collectors. Still, the concert was great, the band fantastic, and the picture quality and 5.1 audio (otherwise) excellent. I'm just surprised and a bit disappointed that no other reviewers here mentioned the 2 issues that I pointed out. I hope this helped to illuminate things for the more discriminating fans.
Rating: Summary: Al and the Band are Perfection in Motion Review: Our family has watched this concert, oh, maybe fifty times now, and we have just enjoyed it so much. Al has matured over the years; his comedy is hilarious without the adolescence of the past. After seeing this, we decided to go to a concert and discovered that the live quality was just as good as recorded, which, in turn, was musically as good a studio. Incredible! My only regret is that Amazon will only let us rate it 5 stars...it deserves much more than that!
Rating: Summary: A Great Video (only way to see LIVE Versions of Songs) Review: Great Video If you've never been to his Consert this is a good Representation, but it is missing about 30% of the show. Includes the LIVE Versons of: Night Santa Went Crazy (Becarefull around little kids), Fat (carefull again beats him up), and Yoda. I have two Complants though they did not show the live trasitions between major cosume changes which is just as funny as the music, and the medley should have been showen in its intiredy. Bonus Videos are exellent as usual. Worth it just for the live versions of the songs
Rating: Summary: Different from the VH-1 edit Review: My four kids (between ages 11 and 4)taped Weird Al's concert on VH-1. They watched it constantly until the tape began to wear out. So I ordered a copy from Amazon.com. I knew there would be stuff that VH-1 had edited out but I was surprised to find out that some of it was not suitable for the younger children, especially "The Night Santa Went Crazy." I'm not knocking Weird Al, but I thought other parents might want to be aware of this.
Rating: Summary: ....our boy Alfred! Review: If you went to the concert and wondered how well they would be able to catch the show on video, rest assured that this tape is almost as good as the concert. Maybe even a little better if you weren't close enough to see Al's face. If you saw the VH-1 special on TV and wondered if you should spend the money for just a few more songs, SPEND THE MONEY! The video is edited differently from the aired show and shows more of Al's interaction with the audience and how everyone sings along (if you've been to one of his concerts you know what I mean). Performance-wise Al and the band are incredible. Hotspots: It's all about the Pentiums, Amish Paradise, The Night Santa went Crazy, and the surprise ending to Yoda.
Rating: Summary: Simply the best Al Tape ever! Review: This Al tape is a very good representation of what to expect in a "Weird Al" concert, which are very intense and high rated. It includes all of Al's hits, done Live on stage. He dresses up in costumes of the people he parodies, and does a few in his regular hawaiian shirt outfit. Regardless of what he wears, this is a great video, and I reccomend it to ANYONE who likes Weird AL the slightest bit, because you won't be dissapointed!
Rating: Summary: al at his best Review: The most surprising thing about the video is that Al's band rocks! The best track by far is "Dare to be Stupid", which showcases Al and the band at their vintage best. My kid's loved "Fat" and "Jurassic Park". Too bad Al did not include "Albuquerque"! One of the better live concert videos out there, definitely worth a look.
Rating: Summary: Weird Al is the Bomb Review: Just when you thought Weird Al had good videos before wait tell you see this. I saw it, and it was ausome I sang along, and watched it over, and over. I like this Video more than any other one, and I seen them all. So you better buy it other wise you wouldn't really get to see his best Video
Rating: Summary: Weird Al Rules! Review: If you are a Weird Al Fan, this video is for you! Plug in your surround sound system and crank up the knob! I was fortunate to be at the Weird Al Concert in Los Angeles 5 days before this concert was recorded. This video depicts the concert as I remembered it except for one thing, The kid who played Anikin Skywalker didn't make a guest appearance in this concert as he did in ours!
