Rating: Summary: I love wierd al! Review: This film has great editing, O.K sound and camerawork, and it really fails on the picture quality. They have a "meledy" portion where they sing only the meledy of the songs (most of those were the best songs! Nonetheless, entertaining, love the costume switches, in some of the soings, the lyrics were slightly changed (If youv'e heard them 2,000 times, you'll know the difference! This concert focuses mainly on Running with scissors, but that's fine.... I never owned his tapes with two or three songs, but I bet they were bulky. That tape has ALL his music video's (except the two from Running With Scissors (The Saga Begins, and It's All About The Pentiums), which are a special feature on Wierd Al Live! If you're a fan, but Wierd Al Live!, and The "Wierd Al Video Library," plus his movies. Thats all, in video, you need from Wierd Al. For example, there's the Bad Hair Day videotape. All the video's on there are on his video library. Anyway, good buy!
Rating: Summary: WEIRD AL ROCKS! Review: Ever since I ordered this Dec 27th I have been watching this all the time. This is al at his best. See it snow in the arena and Ruben get shot plus more surprises. Al sing some of his songs form running with scissors and some old ones. The extra features are also great on this with his 2 new music videos and the 2 clips from AL-TV. Well what are you waiting add it to yout cart
Rating: Summary: And I was there too! Review: This is an excellent example of "Weird Al's" live shows - I should know, I went to 7 of them on his last tour. Ruben, one of the guys in the band, said he thought the lighting was bad, but I think it is just fine. Except for Al's hair being in his face a bit too much, it is fantastic. This DVD shows all of Al's favorite hits, but only gives you a hint of the hilarity that happens during costume changes. If you look really close you can see me in the audience right before the last number "Yoda". I'm the one standing up and clapping ... If there is one thing lacking in this DVD, it is the extended medly that includes "Laundry Day", a personal favorite of mine. If you like "Weird Al" even just a teeny tiny bit, this is pure viewing pleasure. And, not enough good things can be said about the band. Playing musical instruments takes a tremendous talent. Add to this, the costume changes, the different styles of music that they play, and switching styles for each new song, and I hope that the masses will appreciate them as much as I do. They ROCK. Any and all "Al Pals" feel free to e-mail me any time. After all, if you've made it this far, we are all part of the elite "Close Personal Friend" corp. I have the tattoo to prove it! ...
Rating: Summary: Al at his BEST! Review: Having seen Al live a number of times, I can tell you that this video is like being there only with better seats! An excellent performance by Al and his whole band. This is one of the best things I've seen Al do yet.
Rating: Summary: i have a question about wierd al Review: what video has "smells like nirvana"on it ,i would like to buy the video but i dont know which one it is...
Rating: Summary: ARE YOU READY TO POLKA!?!?!?! Review: "Weird Al" Live rocks! Al has so much energy in his performances. This is the greatest DVD ever! The Educational Videos are hilarious! There is so much hype and energy in this DVD! You have to buy it!
Rating: Summary: Weird Al Live in Concert! Review: In this video, the excitement of seeing Weird Al in concert is captured forever. It includes live versions of many of Weird Al's songs. And, if you purchase the DVD version, it includes some of the educational films shown at Weird Al's concerts. It does not include those great celebrity interviews he does due to legal reasons. It is a great buy if you would like to see Weird Al in concert. It is a lot better then the VH1 special was. That only included an hour's worth of it. Oh, I almost forgot. This great buy also includes the two music videos from Al's Running With Scissors album: The Saga Begins and It's all about the Pentiums. This is a must for every Weird Al fan.
Rating: Summary: Al Rocks! Review: I have seen Weird Al twice and I can honestly say that the man does not lipsync! He is awesome in concert. He sounded better then most of the mainstream artists that I have seen live. This video is a must for any Al fan. He is a very talented artist who has stood the test of time. I repete, Weird Al does not lipsync!!!! Get this video. Weird Al Rocks!!!
Rating: Summary: very good but not great Review: I've seen Al live several times. I liked some of the older tours better than "touring with scissors" which this is shot from. Any Al show is an absolute blast. However there are a few items from the live shows that were missing from this recording. Camera work is very good. Sound quality is very good. The mix with the crowd noise mic open sounds a little strange. I had hoped for more surround effects. Bonus features are nice. This is a must have for any Al fan or anybody looking for a very entertaining concert. It's a very good video, but doesn't hold up to the real thing.
Rating: Summary: He IS perfect!! Review: This is the single greatest piece of multimedia anyone could ever own! The parodies are simply magnificent, as is Al's performance. Having done some (semi)-professional singing of my own, it's nice to see an artist who actually seems to be enjoying his music and time spent with his enraptured fans, as opposed to one with a pained and/or indifferent expression that conveys he can't wait to get off the stage and back to spending his wads of cash! I have only seen the DVD once at a friend's house (I myself own the VHS and have only watched it about a thousand times) and didn't notice the stoppage at the end of "Teen Spirit", not to say that it isn't there; I simply failed to make note of it. I must comment on the accusation of a lip-synched performance in a previous review, however. Al prides himself on NEVER lip-synching to his own songs. You can tell on some parts of the concert where his voice catches slightly and such, little things that prove it's all real. As for the perfect singing while writhing around, I'll have you know that I was at a Weird Al concert where he wracked himself up on a gate (outdoor theatre) trying to get into the audience for "One More Minute" and he only missed a beat (enough to tell that it was live, but also to prove he has great voice control even while in compromising positions and makes a quick recovery)! Well, I've wasted enough of you're time already; why are you still reading this review instead of filling out the order form? You HAVE to get this DVD (yeah, I'm talking to YOU, buddy). Keep the spirit of Al alive, and don't besmirch his good name with false accusations of (*shudders*) lip-synching. The council rests, Your Honor...
