Summary: Great film. Great sounding music
Review: I'm not a purist, and I realize the music was re-mixed for this. But the restored color and enhanced audio made this a really fun film.

This is, however, the weakest of the Beatles films. Suitable to put on as you're cleaning the house and enjoy moments of it, difficult to sit on the couch and watch end-to-end. And remember, the documentary notwithstanding, J, P, G, & R did NOT provide the voices for this film. They are clever forgeries.

Summary: Excellent Remaster
Review: Awesome restoration of one of the best animated movies ever made. Hey Bulldog is the first time seen on Video animated. The 5.1 dolby digital effects during the Attack of the Meanies and the Love Glove is awesome! Check out the error in the subtitling during 'Only a Northern Song' The subtitle reads lyrics to be 'Only a Normal Song'!!!

Summary: the most psychodelic experience ever...
Review: i used to watch this movie ALL the time when i was about 5 or so (note: i'm 16 now), so when i (sufficiently altered mind-wise) watched it again last night with my best friend, it awoke feeling i didn't remember having. i think, no joke, that seeing this at such a young age changed the way i saw things for the rest of my life, and watching it again was like opening up supressed memories or memories from another life. this movie contains EVERYTHING worth watching in a movie. it inspires thoughts of very deep complexity while, at the same time, is lavishly entertaining to our very most base mind sectors (oooo, pretty colors, etc.). it's really meant to be watched while stoned, but it is very good for children to watch, too (no obsene material, or at least nothing a child could pick up). if you'll let your mind wonder (and you will), every character seems to symbolize something, every scene is abstract, every movement and color seems to be of grand importance, and when you're finished, you will love the beatles for making it. everyone (particularly stoners) should see this movie sometime, as a life experience.

Summary: The best movie ever
Review: This is the greatest movie of all time. I am only thirteen and didn't grow up in the Beatles generation, but I can tell you this movie is just as fun now as it was then. I watch it constantly. It also has some rare songs that are difficult to find anywhere else, such as "Only a Northern Song" and "Hey Bulldog". The wacky animation makes it interesting while the Beatles characters keep it fun. It is truly mandatory that you see it at least once in your life.

Summary: A delight for all the senses
Review: 31 years after is original release, the Beatles animated classic was re-released with an accompanying album of remixed versions of the original tracks. The release sparked an onslaught of Yellow Submarine merchandise and publicity in what was dubbed the Beatlennium project. But what of the film itself? Did it deserve such attention? In short - yes. It is undoubtedly a psychedelic period piece and some claim it has dated badly. But for sheer inventiveness, this work takes some beating. It is a wildly imaginative tale of good verses evil. The Utopian Pepperland is attacked by the Blue Meanies who want to destroy all that is good (loads of contemporary symbolism there). John, Paul, George and Ringo travel through time and space and philosophy to liberate Pepperland from this tyrannical oppression. The film has been remastered using state of the art computer technology, with the soundtrack remixed in 5.1 surround sound. Its impact is heightened and the result is really stunning. The visuals are dense in detail, combining Pop art, Op art, Surrealism and even a Monty Python style of animation, and yet still retaining a unique originality of its own. And music-wise, the fabs have seldom sounded better, with each Beatle showcasing their individual strenths.

Summary: 1-2-3-4, Can I Have A Little More?
Review: I hadn't seen Yellow Submarine since I was a kid, and all that was left in my memory was the general look of it and the impression of being amused. I'm glad that I had forgotten so much, because watching the DVD was almost like enjoying it for the first time. I was stunned by how bright and clear the restored colors are, and the remastered sound was excellent. Like many Beatles songs, the movie is quirky and fun, with a simpleness that belies some social commentary.

I played it for my 3 year old daughter the next morning, just to see what she would think of it. I wasn't too surprised to find that it kept her pretty well engaged, and that she's asked to see it a couple of times since. Though not really made as a kiddie movie, there's nothing inappropriate for the little ones in it, and it has lots of bright colors, funny images, and simple action.

This is a great movie to have around the house

Summary: Pun For Everyone!
Review: "Yellow Submarine" has to be one of the best animation pieces of all time. YS is a colorful and funny film that will captivate Beatles' fans of all ages and if you like puns, this movie has a lot of them ("Are you blueish? You don't look blueish!").

YS also has a number of vivid psychedelic montages that are enhanced by a digitally remastered soundtrack. One of my favorite segments in this film is when the sub enters the Sea of Science. George Harrison's "Only A Northern Song" comes to the forefront on this psychedelic sequence yet it does so in a way that it compliments and even enhances the animation.

Whether you're a Beatles fan or a fan of the animated arts, you will undoubtedly find this an enjoyable movie. YS is a fun film that the whole family will enjoy watching again and again. This is one film you will definitely want to add to your video collection.
