Rating: Summary: A Spectacular DVD Review: Looks and sounds incredible. The colors are so bold they leap out at you... and the audio sounds like it was recorded yesterday. Everything about this disc is cool... I only wish the interviews were longer. The never-before-seen "Hey Bulldog" sequence is wonderful... they should never have cut it in the first place. Savor it!
Rating: Summary: WOW!!! Pepperland on DVD. A visual and aural assault! Review: What a creative movie! If you have any interest in the Beatles, you should see (buy) this DVD and hear many songs from the best record album ever made, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. The "special features" allows you to select various listening options, including "original mono." I believe I read that the movie was originally mono, but you'd never know it! The Dolby Digital 5.1 option is as good as most productions created today. You can tell it's not an original digital *recording,* but this is no lame "Dolby Digital" mix. This is the real deal. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds is awesome, with perfect surround information, along with glorious color (as it should be). You'll find a lot of off-camera imaging too; much like A Bug's Life. I enjoyed several little bits of sarcasm in the movie, such as: "He's so smart, he can't remember what he knows." It's a winner!
Rating: Summary: The Great Yellow Submarine Review: I wasn't born in the 60's(I'm not even over 18!),but the Beatles are my favorite band! I grew up on them, my parents are HUGE fans, I can even remember singing Yellow Submarine in kindergarden! This is truly my favorite movie. I rented it a long time ago and then went back and found out it had been put outta print. I was crushed! Thanks, whoever put it back out, for making a lotta people who have seen it(and alot who hasn't) very happy. Also, the DVD version is great!! The colors really jump outta the screen!!
Rating: Summary: An excellent video Review: Highly imaginative story and animation, complemented by great music, this is a great video to own. I haven't seen it in at least 7 years, and seeing it restored and the music put into stereo made it all the better. The added song "Hey Bulldog" is a welcome fix, especially since it includes a deleted scene where the group free their doubles from Pepperland, Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, from the Blue Glass ball the Blue Meanies trapped them in. Overall, a classic piece of animation well worth owning. (Note: I've heard complaints on how in the original video, when the Lonely Hearts are freed, they sing the first few lines of "Baby You're A Rich Man", and this was deleted to make room for the lost footage. I would like to point out that that song bit was deleted because it ws never meant to be there. It was put in place when "Hey Bulldog" was deleted from the original filming, so it's not really another lost scene. I never liked that song anyway :-)
Rating: Summary: I'm Wet. Review: I took a ride with these lads from Liverpool and my conclusion is that this Yellow Submarine has a leak. The sea of time has not been kind to this self indulgent piece of fluff. The music is cleaner... But this story hasn't gotten any better over these 30 years. I recommend heavy doses of medication and a few towels to get through this one. Sorry.
Rating: Summary: Classic,Buy it now! Review: I've waited ages for this classic movie to come out on DVD and well has it been worth it!First class transfer restored to it's full glory and awesome digital sound not to mention nice extra's too.I was though under the impression that the Dvd was to include long lost "Hey Bulldog" footage. Now i know that the US version had the Hey Bulldog sequence cut from the master but i am talk'in about Real Beatles footage of them Recording a version of that great song.I do hope that if such footage exist's it wasn't put on the American version only or is the UK version the same.Any Idea's?
Rating: Summary: This movie was totally Groovy Review: A very interesting movie, very well done i'd give ten stars if i coul
Rating: Summary: Best movie ever produced Review: If you are thinking about getting this movie, do, it is the greatest movie out there.
Rating: Summary: excellent...classic...george harrison shines through Review: What's most interesting to me is how great George's songs are. The re-mixes show how underrated he was. I wonder if John, Paul and (Sir!--isn't that ridiculous) George Martin weren't just a little threatened by him. After all, it was his "discovery" and melding of East and West which led to the interesting blend of thoughts and sounds the Beatles gave to us. The DVD colors are fantastic, the jokes are still funny and the persona(s) of the Beatles were captured by the movie. A lovely time is guaranteed for all.
Rating: Summary: A Splendid Psychedelic Expirience Review: I find this movie to be supurb and visiually exciting. It is beautifully remastered so that colors are restored to their original vibrance and the sound is 10 times clearer. Fans will also enjoy the "new" scene that was added to the movie as well. If you are a fan psychedelic art, the 60's, surrealism, animation, Peter Max, or The Beatles themselves this movie is a definite must. It is a great movie for all ages. "Yellow Submarine" has many humorous moments as well. It contains some of the best songs ever put out by The Beatles. This cartoon movie is what turned me on to the Beatles and the 60's in the first place. I highly recomend it and I suggest you have your own copy to have always.
