Rating: Summary: Very disappointed Review: As a lover of good music with real heart, soul and guts I am very disappointed to have wasted the money on this.Jimmy Page's guitar work is painfully clumsy and unimaginative, Baldwin is as ploddingly pedestrian as ever, Bonzo is drumming to the tempo of a different tune every time and Percy struggles to inject any charisma throughout the DVD... Keep away from Led Zeppelin. They only ever came close to being good once....
Rating: Summary: Anyone not blown away by this DVD set is NOT a fan!!!! Review: Holy smoke! The sound and picture quality of this DVD set is exceptional - from the band who helped launch thousands of ships! It truly does look and sound as if it were recorded yesterday! An amazing band that stands the test of time...Rock On Zep! Thanks Jimmy and all those involved...
Rating: Summary: Amazing!!! Review: I bought the CD and DVD today (the day it was released) and I've got to tell you I'm truly blown away. So far I'm about 2 hours into the 5+ hour dvd and it really has exceeded my expectations. At 20 years old I'm a bit too young to have seen Zeppelin in concert so I'm really happy to see a definitive live complilation come out. Thus far the highlight has been Dazed and Confused which takes full effect of the DVD surround sound effects, everytime Page slides up the neck the sound shifts to the rear speakers which really adds to the whole experience. Overall the sound quality is amazing and the picture is not bad considering it was mostly shot on 16mm and the film wasnt properly stored for all these years. The 2 disc set also comes with 2 really nice pamphlets (one for each disc) which go into detail on how this concert footage was restored and edited. I've rated alot of things on Amazon but until now I've never felt the need to write a full review which I think says it all. This DVD is well worth the money and any true Zeppelin fan should own it.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: There are no words to decribe this movie. Jimmy Page is perhaps the best guitarest of all time and this movie shows it. I actually own this movie so I'm not writing a review without having experienced it first. While the movie advertised the four songs from the garden weren't on The Song Remains The Same in all honesty two of the songs were. None the less this movie is a must but even if you're not a fan of Zeppelin. I own every Zeppelin album and this movie plays the best song of practically every album, and they play it well. This movie is definately worth the price and you'll find yourself watching all 5 hours and 20 minutes of it.
Rating: Summary: No fuss too loud!! Review: Jimmy Page has a point to make, and he does it like no one ever has before. There was always a gap between the early baby boomers, and the latter,(ones born between '55 and '64).The younger ones knew how huge Zeppelin was, and deservedly so. The older one never seemed to accept the heavy metal non-sixties sound. By releasing this incredible account of the biggest selling band of the seventies, Led Zeppelin is about to become a household name to people who never gave them a second thought. This is SOOO obviously the best rock DVD ever made, and it cost me under 20 bucks, including tax. How many millions will sell? 5 hours of truly live Zep, much, much better that the Song Remains the Same. There are too many gems to recount. It impossible to overestimate the overall impact of this DVD. Jimmy's point is simple. He sold the most records in the seveenties with no help from the media. Now with technology on his side, a ridiculous low price, and 5 hours of pure quality, he just may sell more DVD's than anyone in history.
Rating: Summary: How about six stars... Review: Received my copy today. I'm thrilled to say that to call it jawdroppingly good would be an understatement. THIS DVD CONTAINS THE BEST LED ZEPPELIN LIVE RECORDINGS EVER. I saw the band four times including Knebworth. I have always been at a loss to describe to my younger pals what seeing them live was actually like. And after their kinda lame "Song Remains The Same" I had little hope of any live recording or video being able to capture the overwhelming power of this band in concert. This two-disc set exceeds its hype by a mile. "Nobody's Fault But Mine", "Rock 'n Roll", "Achilles Last Stand", "Stairway to Heaven"(without that silly "does anyone remember laughter?" from TSRTS), "In the Evening", "Kashmir" are all standouts. There is some sparklingly deft guitar work by Page, Plant's voice is fantastic, Jones' bass is amazing and Bonzo's driving percussion remains the stuff of legend. There is hardly anything AT ALL on this DVD set that can be considered weak. The video quality ranges from surprisingly good to just plain great. Sadly, the fidelity and dynamic range of the music requires some hefty speakers and serious amplification to extract every last bit of sound from the remarkable remastered audio. Listening to it on tinny built-in TV speakers will not be pleasant. And turn it up to eleven... Highest recommendation and a great excuse to buy a 10000-watt surround system .
Rating: Summary: Let's make May 27th INTERNATIONAL AIR GUITAR DAY! Review: How about we declare May 27th as International Air Guitar Day?! I have seen the Royal Albert Hall, 69 Danish TV show and French TV shows before but the sound and picture quality of this offical release just cannot be compared! The CD will also knock your socks off! As am absolutely rabid Led Zeppelin/Yardbirds fan and guitar player, I am in rock and roll heaven today! PARTY ON!
Rating: Summary: Was there really any doubt? Review: Worth the price just to see the Royal Albert Hall Performance. Biggest surprise...Knebworth 79. Even the best boots don't do it justice. Bonham is a freakin' machine! Earl's Court is wonderful as I think most have anticipated. Once again, they've got the midas touch. Video and Sound quality are unbelievably outstanding!
Rating: Summary: a 5 hour haven for anything zeppelin Review: This incredible collaboration of video footage is nothing short of astounding. To see the band progress from their early days of still working out the kinks to full-blown rock and roll stardom draws few parallels. Just to have seen any previously unreleased footage from Led Zeppelin would have sufficed, yet the quality of both audio and visual is over the top. Recommended for anyone who has the slightest interest in rock and roll.
Rating: Summary: Next best thing to being there Review: Man, I wish I had seen them when I was younger. I have never heard them sound better having gone from vinyl to cd and now dvd. This dvd sounds good on pcm stereo as well as dd and dts but I do think I prefer the stereo version. Bonham is an animal on the drums and as far as Page is concerned well he's amazing. If you only have seen "The song remains the same" on dvd...., this is so much better. This will be watched for years to come by both myself , my kids and my grand kids.
