Rating: Summary: Here¿s my 2¢ worth¿ Review: On January 9th, 1970 (Jimmy Page's 26th birthday as a matter of fact) Led Zeppelin was filmed in all their 16mm glory at Royal Albert Hall. Some reviewers see holes in their performances (probably around 4000; they had to count them all), but I see a great rock band who had just released their second album (their first was released nearly a year before, on Jan. 12, 1969). The success of their just-released second album had not quite hit yet. They were damn good, with a sort of late- 60's Cream/Stones feel to them, which isn't surprising, since the 60's had ended just the week before (the Beatles were still together -- on paper, anyway!). You can still capture the feel of that magical era in that footage...then, on Disc 2, we jump ahead three and a half years to...LED ZEPPELIN, the legendary 70's band. By this time they were jockeying for the Beatles crown of WORLD'S GREATEST ROCK BAND along with the Stones and the Who, and a strange mythos had built up around them as did bands such as the Beatles and the Stones, and Stairway to Heaven ruled the small but growing FM stations. This is what is wonderful about this DVD, seeing the evolution of the band and how they changed. Yes, they were sloppy live (I saw the opening show of their '73 tour in Atlanta and again in '77). A good bit of the reason they were sloppy had to do with Page wearing his Les Paul down around his knees; it's awfully hard to play a guitar like that. It's much better to play it way up high like John Lennon used to do, but of course, it simply doesn't look as cool, and coolness on stage is what Page was all about. And, like their music or not, one cannot overlook the importance of the band. They invented "heavy metal", a genre that is still with us today. Yep, Led Zep was the original "heavy metal" band thanks to Bonham's revolutionary "beat the crap out of 'em" technique and Page's masterful production of the albums where he cranks up the bottom (listen to, say, Cream and compare the sound of the two, you'll see what I mean). A great DVD on one of the greatest bands in rock history.
Rating: Summary: Stairway to Zeppelin Review: Being a total Zephead since the 9th grade (mid 80s), this DVD is what I've been waiting for all these years. A perfect compliment to The Song Remains the Same, we finally get to SEE Zep before and after '73 in all their rock-n-roll glory. I admit to being slightly partial to the 1st DVD which features an entire performance at the Royal Albert Hall in 1970. Before the excesses of superstardom set-in, the young band has a certain magical aura about them as their music touches on the avant-garde. Some of the highlights for me are Dazed-n-Confused, White Summer, and Moby Dick. This DVD alone is worth the price of the set but, nevertheless, I'm very glad there is a 2nd DVD chronicling the later years. Between the accoustic set at Earls Court '75 and Achillies Last Stand at Knebworth '79, there are a lot of great performances that are not to be missed. Actually, I could have done without the synced version of the Immigrant Song (should have been an extra) and The Song Remains the Same stuff in favor of some footage from '77 which is missing altogether. Regardless, this DVD set is a must have for all fans of rock-n-roll. Thank you Page, Plant, and Jones for releasing this musical treasure; and as we wind on down the road, I can only hope there is more footage to come.
Rating: Summary: Love It Review: This DVD is a must have for anybody who considers themselves a music fan. This DVD gives a look at Zeppelin during all phases of their career, from a 1969 radio show to a live performance in 1979 (one year before Bonham died). The White Summer and Moby Dick alone are worth the cost of this item; the other four and a half hours are just the icing on the cake. Do yourself a favor and buy this.
Rating: Summary: Just like being there again... Review: From the opening pictures as the cars drive into the Sydney Sports Ground, picking ourselves out in the crowd (God, we had hair !!!), looking at the old sponsors signs behind the stage(2SM Radio), it all came back like it was yesterday. We had the greatest summer Xmas holidays imaginable (seeing both Led Zep & The Stones a few weeks apart), at 18 this was heaven. This DVD is surely a work of art, put together by Jimmy Page with all the care & love he shows his guitars. I just wish it was 20 hours long. The worlds best guitarist and the greatest voice in rock.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: This dvd is about five hours and twenty minutes, so it's not likely that you'll sit through it, but all the same, this is an excellent compilation of old stuff (disc one) and newer stuff (disc two). I am a guitar freak, so I mainly pay attention to what Jimmy Page is doing, but Bonzo was pretty amazing too. I had to wince in the second disc a whole bunch of times when they kept taking a whole bunch of closeups of Robert Plant. The first disc starts out with "We're Gonna Groove" which is a rather rare song of theirs and then morphs into "I can't quit you Babe", then comes "Dazed and Confuzed" NOTE: THIS SONG IS WORTH THE PRICE OF THE DVD The guitar solo in this song is amazing to see live, because of the violin bow parts. First Jimmy Page plays some melancholy sounding chords and then he turns on his delay and starts whacking the strings with the bow. Then he goes and uses a Vox Wah-wah to make a very unique sound. Next on the first disc was "White Summer" which is pretty much a ten-minute fingerpicking guitar solo (played on a Danelectro). Other highlights on the first disc are "Whole Lotta Love", "Moby Dick", in which Bonzo plays a fifteen minute drum solo, and "Bring it on Home" which is played on a three pickup Les Paul Custom after Page broke a string during an earlier song (Communication breakdown, I think). This Les Paul Custom has more crunch than any other guitar I have heard.Disc two starts out with an epillepsy-inspiring version of "The Immigrant Song". It then goes to "Black Dog" and "Misty Mountain Hop". "The Ocean" is played, starting of with Bonzo's favorite drinking song, and then they play some other stuff like "Nobody's fault but mine", and "Stairway to heaven". It finishes off with a new version of "Whole Lotta Love" All in all, a great selection.

Rating: Summary: led zeppelin dvd Review: Yeah well it took long enough to surface, but when it did..man it took my head off!! I can't believe how good these 2 dvd are!! The rumours and talk of an official dvd of the band live were racing about for years..to have the finished article in my hands was too good to believe! I've loved this band since the early 70's..i saw them at the second Knebworth in 1979 (and i saw Page and Plant at Wembley on The No Quarter Tour)..i must say they did come across as rather jaded and sloppy when i saw them..it didn't help a speaker going bang during The No Quarter keyboard solo and Page's string going during Achilles..i've seen numerous bootleg concerts through the years and of course TSRS..you can knock that all you like, but it was the only live footage we had of Zeppelin for years..till this dvd showed up...as for Page being sloppy..if you compare him to today's players he's ancient in his technique..and maybe just a bit rough..but he delivered the goods when he had to along with his 3 other cohorts...you have to remember the state Page was in by the late 70's health wise as well..i find it funny if Page is so sloppy and bad on guitar that Steve Vai rates him as his favourite guitarist...this dvd set allows us to look in on Zeppelin in a way we never could before..it would be impossible to site best bits as the whole thing is akin to a gift from the gods..and yes there are maybe too many camera shots for some, but this was left over footage and we should just be thankful it got released..it could all still be rotting away in a warehouse somewhere..Zeppelin were a leviathan of undreampt size and unfortunately in the end they imploded on themselves...they left a legacy of magical music and great performances..Buy it..and just enjoy the four of them take your skull apart!!
Rating: Summary: Zeppelin DVD Review: SOOO AMAZING... you have to buy it, its insane, Jimmy Page is a GOD
Rating: Summary: Zeppelin...best band ever Review: The release of this rock DVD is historically important...anything from this band is important....to show future generations the best live rock band in history of course...so that we can all see and hear for ourselves pure genius on stage...... I'm not interested if it ain't the best quality.....who cares....what this pioneering rock band did and who they where is as important as Elvis or The Beatles in the history of music, and so it is important that these early black & white live Zeppelin shows are released to the music public of all ages to see for themselves....and to judge. Why is it important to see the best ever?...so that one can see who is number one of all time....from this yardstick we can judge how good other great bands are in comparison....after all...we all want to know who is the best in all feilds of life. Led Zeppelin where, and are still the best band ever....not one other great band has come even close....Led Zep where just one of those unusual phenomenoms that happens now and again(pure & utter genius...who's music improvisation and live sound will never be caught again)...Four guys who where at the top of their tree at a time when music was at it's collosul best....1970..when Hendrix, The Beatles, Cream, The Who, Pink Floyd, The Stones, ZZ Top, Fleetwood Mac, Yes, Genesis, The Eagles, The Animals, Steppenwolf, Joe Cocker, Deep Purple & Sabbath where all around and still recording.....truly great acts.....to be top of that fantastic band list takes some doing...a band with that `something extra'.....even George Harrison once quoted.....`When Led Zeppelin are finished...kiss your skull goodbye'...all the greats know & respect Led Zeppelin. I just never quite get it...when people i know have never heard Zeppelin...or think they are just a loud noise....these people who claim they like music and bands.....are not too good when it comes to music judgement....they like music, but for me they do not LOVE & cherish great music....or they would know better. Early raw Led Zeppelin in concert....you witnessed the best live band ever!
Rating: Summary: The Gods of Rock 'n' Roll Review: I'll make this review very simple. If you like Led Zeppelin, you'll freakin' love this DVD.
