Rating: Summary: I could not sit down Review: I could not sit down, I could not leave the room, and I could not but CRANK UP THE VOLUME. Playing this DVD fills the void in my soul. Thank you Led Zeppelin.
Rating: Summary: A HISTORICAL DOCUMENT OF ROCK ERA Review: I can't describe it, what i feel, i guess almost like you guys. It doesn't matter if you saw Led Zepp sometime, THIS is a document you must to feel. The performances, photography, edition, and the sound are astonishing...this is the rock and roll document of the decade. you'll remember that. and yes, there some interference in 5.1, and 2.0 dolby is fine. But later it may stabilized. There such a lot of rock power!
Rating: Summary: Trampled Under Sound Review: Everyone who knows rock, and the majorty who don't, know of Led Zeppelin. They will forever be a massive impact on music history and a shining example of a sum being greater than its parts. Much like The Beatles, it's hard to believe how much of an impact they had in their relatively short span. For any Zeppelin fan or indeed any music fan, this DVD is a must. I find it quite amazing that this 2 DVD set is as cheap as it is because the content is priceless and in this day and age, a rare example of true value for money. Although the set is packed with glorious moments I am very partial to the opening of the second DVD, an absolutely stunning version of 'Immigrant Song' that makes the album version seem, dare I say...lame. It's just an absolute stunner and, honestly, I would've started off the whole package with it myself because it's a real mood-setter for the rest of the content. I recommend turning that volume knob as high as you can get away with when you insert the second DVD and be prepared to sit there slack-jawed. Another thing I found very interesting and that cracked a huge smile on my face is one of the bonus materials that's included on the first DVD which is of them doing a 4-song set (which runs for an amazing 31 minutes) for Danmarks Radio in 1969. About 30 teenagers get to sit cross-legged around them (my God, little did they know the history they were getting to watch unfold before them) and at first they're not too sure what to make of it but by the end they're bobbing their heads and the band have them eating out of their hands. It's just very funny if you look at it from a historical aspect and what would happen to the bands popularity and the impact they would have on people throughout their career; talk about a precursor. In this pathetically sad era of manufactured, corporate rock and rap rubbish that's spewed out and forced onto radio and T.V. in an effort to make money one only has to watch this little 4-song set to see what real charisma, talent, dedication and musicianship can do. Led Zeppelin won over that little audience in a matter of 30 minute's with no advertising, colouring books, clothes, pens, backpacks and all the other b.s. you can't help but trip over these days. It's all about the music...and to word play off one Mr. Robert Plant on the DVD in 'Stairway to Heaven': "Do you remember Led Zeppelin? Priceless."
Rating: Summary: SWEET...... Review: This is a "must have" for all true zeppelin fans. In this day and age, we are fortunate to be able to view such awesome footage of zeppelin concerts, spanning the early years to the end. people just have to keep in mind that this footage is 30 years old, so quality may not always be at its peak. Who cares its zeppelin!! you still get live versions of some of their best work. Earl's court was by far the best segment. the final verses in the dvd's book insert says it all "this glimpse of the music and the performance of four musicians who transported their gift from a small basement room in chinatown, london, on to a wild rollercoaster ride through the clubs, festivals, and stadiums of the world of pop culture is quite remarkable. it is a stirring and dynamic insight into a unique entity." zeppelin lives on...
Rating: Summary: A new standard for music DVD Review: Before you even get to the musical brilliance contained within, you're struck by the packaging: beautiful photography, cleanly typeset, elegantly opening to the information you want and the discs inside. Then you realize, than unlike "How the West Was Won," (genius) this DVD contains not one or two concerts but a Zeppelin fan's dream collection of live sets and promo clips. The biggest Zep fan in the world couldn't have done better, nor asked for more. I would have paid three times as much for this embarrassment of riches. I would have paid three times as much for mono bootlegs of this stuff-- and it's in DTS!!!!!! It's shocking that in this day and age, Atlantic cared enough to give this mammoth band such royal treatment. This DVD leaves the comprehensive Queen and Bowie DVD collections in the dust, it's really that good. To all the artists and record companies and DVD manufacturers out there: Don't release another music DVD until you study Led Zeppelin DVD CAREFULLY and commit to reaching this standard. It really is special.
Rating: Summary: Led Zeppelin (2003) Review: This will be kept simple: Have you forgoten what rock sounds like? How about: what's cool, what rocks, what brings it, what rock stars look like, how bands should play and simply what kicks a#s! Well, Zeppelin and this video is what you need...What a band! I bought a $$$ surround sound system just to support this DVD set. My wife and 8 year son love it! Scott
Rating: Summary: This was the time........ Review: This was the time when music was a religious experience! Rap and Hip Hop, step aside. Zepplelin reigns! Listen and Learn young ones!
Rating: Summary: The Best DVD since Song Remains The Same! Review: I would just like to say that since the release of this DVD, I haven't been able to watch anything else. It is by far the best DVD Led Zeppelin has released. With songs such as "Bring It On Home" and "Dazed and Confused," and the rare press footageit is a classic. It is an ideal piece of history that any Led Zeppelin fan should have.
Rating: Summary: The Greatest Band Ever Review: I just wanted to comment on a previous review regarding the static in the center channel. I experienced the exact same thing, after a few songs, on Disc 1. Just in Dolby 5.1--not with DTS or Dolby 2.0. And Disc 2 sounds great in 5.1, no static that I notice. I thought it was just my system at first. Annoying but because DTS sounds so good it's not really a big issue for me. I just listen in DTS for Albert Hall and Dolby 5.1 for the rest. Outstanding DVD otherwise, I am in rock heaven...
Rating: Summary: Absolutely kickin' Review: To A viewer from nyc: I too found some high pitched static coming from the center channel in Dolby 5.1 mode, particularly during the Earl's Court set at high-pitched segments (like Plant's vocals-maybe his pants were too tight :)). But Page's violin bow thing during the Albert Hall set did not produce static. I've had this happen before, but I forget which DVD. What I liked most about these performances is I can tell what parts of the music get the band off the most. Page loves to boogie and Bonzo the human metronome loves to hammer away one minute and tiptoe through the tulips the next-a good appreciation of dynamics basically. To see the band playing through the years really shows them as ordinary blokes having a romp instead of as rock gods.
