Rating: Summary: The Ultimate Zep performance-True to Form Review: The band that paved the way.....Produced during one of the many peaks of the Zeppelin era. Filmed at Madison Square Garden, this concert covers the many facets of the Zep movement including selected songs from Zep I to Zep IV (Zoso). This footage is also visual artistry of the music found on "The Song Remains the Same" CD/Tape. The movie is filmed around "visions" of the band members labled as "fantasy sequences" set to a selected song(s) from each band member. In contrast to the time this was filmed, this footage is somewhat raw, yet it helps convey the concert experience of those fortunate enough to be a part of the Live Zeppelin experience. Early in the concert, the sound is rough and un-mastered, but when they hit the 2nd and 3rd song, the sound is fantastic. You will see the most incredible guitar and drum solo's ever filmed. This is a essential must for any Classic Rock Fan!
Rating: Summary: As real as it gets Review: If you never had the chance to see Led Zepplin or the current Robert Plant/Jimmy Page on tour, this video movie is the next best thing to being thier. This is Led Zep in thier hay day and is worth every cent. A must see...
Rating: Summary: Led Zeppelin, In concert.....and Beyond! Review: Here's your chance to join in a celebration of rock's premier metalmen LED ZEPPELIN,the trend-setting foursome whose inimitable amalgam of gutsy blues and scathing rock made them legendary in the annals of ROCK'n ROLL.Never before have all the sizzling elements of the band's smash success been more vibrantly seen and heard! Robert Plant's raw lead vocals, Jimmy Page's explosive riffery and the sonic-boom rhythm wall of bassist John Paul Jones and Drummer John Bonham - All SWIRL, CLASH and COLLIDE to creat some of ROCK's most POWERFUL, most ENDURING SOUNDS... And with the sounds are the sights. Interspered with the dazzling concert footage, you'll share behind-the-scenes moments with the band and experience visually gripping fantasy sequences. To tell all would spoil the fun, but more than one rock critic has inspired the opening gangland shoot-out sequence as Zep's way of getting back at critics who refused to admit what Zep's millions of Fans already knew: NOTHING - and no one - GOES DOWN HEAVIER THAN LED ZEPPELIN!
Rating: Summary: interesting Review: this movie is laughibly B A D. the music's great but its out of sync with the film at some parts (bad editing). like when in the middle of a song jimmy's guiar magicly changes color. the dreams are corny but classic. buy this and the soundtrack together because there are different tracks on each. i'm waiting for the dvd.
Rating: Summary: Thanks, Jimmy Review: This is it! The one true video representation of Zeppelin, save for the VH1 "Legends" special, which is painfully brief. On this tape, the music is laughably out of sync with the video, the lighting is horrible, the performances are terrible and the editing is juvenile. No more videos available to the public. Thanks, Jimmy for your selfishness.
Rating: Summary: A so-so performance Review: I have had the opportunity to see the Yardbirds, Led Zeppelin, the Firm, and now Page/Plant and frankly, this album and movie doesn't do them justice. Jimmy Page is, in my humble opinion, second only to Jimi Hendrix in talent and a damn sight better playing blues than another fine guitarist, Eric Clapton. Nonetheless, the late Peter Grant's comments that "The Song Remains the Same" is the most expensive home movie ever is accurate. Don't judge Page or Zeppelin by this movie; I have seen Pagey eat Clapton, Beck, et al alive when he wants to. If and when Page and Plant tour again, run, don't walk, to buy tickets. You will see one of the very best ever!
Rating: Summary: a MIXED review Review: I agree that both the audio and visual aspects of this film must be reviewed. I regret getting the album first. Page and Plant, who are geniuses in the studio, are showboats onstage. If you ask me, they may look cool during masterpieces like "No Quarter" and "Stairway To Heaven", but they sound either half-dead, or stoned to me. There stage presence, however, as well as many more songs and visuals, make the movie superior to the album, by far. All and all, however, the fantasy scenes, and occasional camera tricks are way, way, way too outdated to do any justice to the feeling Led Zepplin's music gives me. Time limits simply don't apply to them. this is my review of the film, and being a fan of the band, i can still stomach the film.
Rating: Summary: What is "pure" music?!! Review: I like some of you have had the privlidge and honer of seeing BOTH Ledzep and Robert @ Jimmy live on stage. For me and many of my friends, NO QUATER.. was a gift from TWO Musisions who simply love the fine art of music.! The movie of The Song ETC was just the start. If you have NOT seen The Song etc then you are yet to relise what PURE MUSIC is. I would sugest you 1st sit back and watch {WITH OUT INTREUPTIOUN}... ON QUATRE..eg, 4 sticks, battle of evermore, when the leavey breakes, misty mountain, hang man and kashmir. This is just to name a few as well as new songes and re mixes's. When you have bought seen seen NO QUATER, GO BACK and buy, borrow, loan {but do not STEAL,, THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME,,, BECAUSE THIS IS WHERE MUSICE "MOVES @ VIDIO'S" STARTED......1977!!!!!
Rating: Summary: The Wall, Yellow Submarine ect. ect. Review: Just like Pink Floyd and The Beatles Zepplins "Song Remains The Same" is perfection no matter what perspective you are coming from. It is history, a moment frozen in time that expressed what these musicians lived and breathed. To the critics of Zepplins Movie Musical that express boredom or hilarity from the cinematic scenes try to imagine one telling them a part of a song should be omited for whatever reason. The film is the same...It's an expression from these talented people that have given a gift that has made millions of people feel something. The Movie is perfection in every sence. To add or delete one second would be a tragedy. Also... I suggest a psychedelic enhancement to view the film.
Rating: Summary: Music is great, but fantasy scenes are silly & distracting Review: Really one needs to make two ratings: one for the band's performance, which is super and interesting to watch and hear at the same time; and one for the fantasy sequences, which are cut into the concert and detract from its enjoyment considerably. Either they didn't think that we'd be sufficiently captivated by the band in concert to watch it without side entertainment--wrong!--or the band members were dying to do the experimental film-making that they never got a chance to try in high school--the fantasy scenes can best be summed up as "the smoking section does Tolkein" (thanks for that one, Chris!). They are dull-witted and would be unintentionally hilarious except that I want to watch a concert, not comedy. Those scenes are simply annoying, and the return to the concert itself is always welcome. What a tight foursome they were: John Bonham's impeccable timing and nicely judged modulation of power, John Paul's similiar timing and control, Jimmy's inspired musicality, and Robert's expressiveness combine wonderfully. The concert footage is excellent, both for the "you are there" documentary quality and for its artistic quality. The triple images of Robert and Jimmy on "Seven to Eleven", for instance, are very effective, and--here we turn our attention completely to the music--the guitar introduction by Jimmy on that song is absolutely wonderful: sultry and gorgeous beyond description--one of the best several seconds in music. But there are many high points in this concert, if only we could be allowed to watch it in its entirety. The boys are pretty enough as they are--in fact, Robert is so pretty in his way that he's almost an Alice in Wonderland--and yet, undisputably manly. He's no Boy George or David Bowie, but somehow is more glam than the glam rockers ever could be.
