Summary: not for pop fans
Review: I don't see why anyone would want to listen or watch the Beatles. Let's go over the reasons why they they will never be considered a great pop act.
1) Their songs aren't on top 40 radio stations! How can you possibly trust anything that isn't on top 40 radio stations or trumpted by rick dees or Jacor?
2) P-Diddy didn't do any remixes of their songs. Everyone knows if your music is preconceived before 1990 and if Bad Boy records didn't incorporate it into some type of remix, it's irrelevant. I mean... come on people!
3) They played their own instruments. ok, N'sync, the end all and be all of pop music don't play instruments. All of todays top acts needn't concern themselves with lesser things.
4) They wrote their own music. this is laughable. again, why not capitalize on the great talent of "professional" song writers to do the lesser things? i don't get this.
5) They weren't a pre-constructed like today's great bands. everyone knows that this is a long outdated process. how can you trust a process if it doesn't involve Simon Cowell or Lou Pearlman, whom as far as I'm concerned, define what the last word on what talent is!
6) Finally, how can your music possibly be relevent, if your videos weren't "MTV Buzz" videos or made my McG? How would you know if the music's any good?

Summary: A Laugh A Minute with the Fab Four
Review: A Hard Days Night is full of humor, fun and of course many great Beatles songs including "If I Fell" "I Shoulda Known Better" and the title track "A Hard Days Night". I have seen all of the Beatles films, but this one has to be my favorite and it is the first Beatles film I ever saw. I have to admit the first time you watch it, if you aren't used to Liverpudlian accents, it is a little hard to understand what is being said. But once you've watched it a couple hundred of times, you get used to it. This movie is packed full of jokes, you just have to listen for them. The basic story of "A Hard Days Night" is that John, Paul, George, and Ringo are traveling to a film studio for a television appearance, which is seen at the end of the movie (see if you can find Phil Collins in the crowd). Along with them is Paul's grandfather, referred to by everyone as "very clean", even though he is very mischievious. Paul's grandfather talks to Ringo during the film, which makes Ringo leave the band to go on his own. This is one of the best scenes in the movie, showing Ringo looking lonely and dejected as he walks the streets, eventually getting arrested(Don't worry, he is rescued). I also enjoy when George accidentally ends up at an audition for a teen tv show. I would tell a lot more about the movie, but I think you should get the movie and see it for yourself. You can watch it anytime and it is great for kids as well. And believe me, I wouldn't be giving "A Hard Days Night" a five star rating if it didn't deserve it. :)

Summary: A film that influenced a generation...
Review: I was thirteen or fourteen years old when I first watched A HARD DAY'S NIGHT...

Richard Lester's choice of black and white might have been less of a stroke of genius than a simple budgetary consideration. Be that as it may, it accounts for a great deal of the films ambiance. The Beatles proved to be acting naturals and the rest of the supporting cast were seasoned professionals, albeit better known in the U.K. than in the States.

But it is Lester's use of light that is the films crowning achievement. Harkening back to the classics of the 1930's, virtually every shot is specifically lit and stands on it's own as an exhibit grade still photograph.

The music is the icing on the cake and the way the songs are presented, sometimes as a performance piece ("IF I FELL") and other times as soundtrack ("CAN'T BUY ME LOVE") is noting short of brilliantly innovative.

I've loaned this film out to umpteen friends and they always say that it cuts directly across generations and that their kids become instant fans of the Beatles. Buy it. It bears repeated viewings.

Summary: Absolutely Brillant
Review: Thsi is the film that introduced me to the Beatles and I absolutely loved it. Although I was not even used to the Liverpudlian accent and I didn't get many of the jokes as I do now, it is a wonderful movie that I watch over and over and get something new out of it each time. This is definitely a must-see classic.

Summary: Full of Joy
Review: The very best of everything that became the 60s is reflected in this infectious, joyful, vibrant and creative movie that broke forever the dreary formulaic pop-star flicks that doomed Elvis Presley et al.

I was there in the theater for the debut of this movie, and it's hard to describe the sheer happiness of our group of teenaged girls, all dressed in black, all with long straight hair and bangs, all with a "John Lennon" black leather hat (we were trying to look like a combination of the Beatles and their long-haired, all-in-black, gorgeous girlfriends at the time).

Surprise, surprise, the movie has endured. It works on two levels: One, to see just what it was about those four British boys that brought such inexpressable joy to an entire generation. Their cheekiness, their looks, their clothes, and above all, their music, was something heretofore unknown in the American pop culture, and we couldn't get enough of it.

On another level, A Hard Day's Night is just a darn good movie, from the innovative photography (black and white, unexpected and brilliant) to the offbeat and seemingly ad-libbed script to the direction to the boys themselves, who proved to be naturals. They were not asked to pretend to be something they were not: They were just their irrepresible selves at a time when all things seemed possible. This is a one-of-a-kind movie, a classic for its time and always, a microcosim of a time long gone and never to return.

If you haven't seen it, you are in for a wonderful treat. If you have, give it another look; it's even better than the last time you saw it, I guarantee it.

Summary: the best of all time
Review: This movie defines the word classic. It is without a doubt the best musical of all time. I cannot wait for the DVD to be released. For those who have not seen this movie , watch it , and you will see like me and millions of others why the Beatles are the biggest selling act of all time. The death of George makes this movie even more of a classic. Do yourself a favor and buy this movie. Generations to come will love this movie.

Summary: AHDN redefined musical movies
Review: I can add little to the legend that is "A Hard Day's Night". The movie epitomises the time it was made, the music in it, the culture it portrays and, of course, the Beatles in their historical context.

The DVD about to be released...is a long time coming but all the more welcome for that. The extras sound like they will themselves add considerably to a Beatles lovers colelction...

Summary: A Classic Forever....
Review: This has to be the greatest music/rock film of all time. The most significant quality that stands out in this film is the freshness and vitality that has been captured. One is led to believe that this really is a "day in the life" of the Beatles---and so it was. A truly great film overflowing with spontaneity and truly great songs that capture the feeling of the day. The surrealistic aspects are quite intriquing and this is a film that I never get tired of watching. Add a great supporting cast coupled with the Beatles' own unique brand of humor and you have a film that can be watched over and over always offering some little nuance waiting to be discovered. Fantastic!

Summary: Greatest Musical of All Time
Review: Here's the band that started it all having the time of their life. Roger Ebert recently rated this film as one of his all time musicals and you will too.

I envy you if you have never seen "A Hard Days Night". That's right, I envy you, because after you watch this film for the first time you will be hooked...Repeat after me..."A Hard Days Night" is the greatest music film of all time.

When the Beatles made "A Hard Days Night", they were fresh off their America success, but the crushing world wide fame was still a few months away. The Beatles were still wide-eyed innocent youths who were poking fun at the whole show business world. This film was shot in early 1964 and released later that year. David Crosby quotes the film as inspiring him and other members of the Birds into forming a rock band.

Neat bits to look for in the film. The cute blonde on the train (Patty Boyd) would become George Harrison's first wife and Eric Clapton's later wife. Look for Phil Collins as a ten year old fan in the tv concert scene. John has a bit of fun reading his own book of poetry and making a reference to his favorite soft drink.

This film takes you on a wild ride inside the all too brief world of Beatlemania. It's great to have a film that I can share with my kids that's still as fresh and as fun as the day it premiered. Enjoy...

Summary: The Beatles are the truth and the light
Review: This movie has actually become more enjoyable as the years have passed. The reason for it is plain: nostalgia. Never has an entertainment act had such a profound impact on the world as the Beatles. The innocence and simplicity of the movie make it a treat to watch and it's full of funny moments. It's silly, but fun silly. The Beatles seemed born to be in front of the camera with their wry and irreverent senses of humor. The fact that 2 of the Beatles are now gone makes it even more of a treasure to be able to see the lads in their youthful exuberance. Hard to believe how much they had changed just a few laters as they experimented w/ drugs, protested the war and so forth. John Lennon, in particular, is almost unrecognizable as the same person from 1964 to 1968. The world is very different now than it was when this film was made, watch it and reflect on a time that we will not experience again!
