Review: ...If you look at the DVD's menu, go to many of the indivdual songs, and click on MORE INFO. Keep clicking the RIGHT ARROW buttons in this mode, and on MOST of the songs (not all. and I won't tell you WHICH specific songs have them) morre-info pages, you will notice a TINY eyeball in one of the corners of the border. ONLY on the more-info for each indivual songs will you find these Easter Eggs.
Move your cursor around until the eyeball (which IS sort or hidden. But if you're looking for it, you can't miss them) is highlighted, and CLICK AWAY!
Some of the Easter Eggs are: A live WORMWOOD segment, a LIVE 13 Anniv. segment, other live pieces (some of them very short, others longer) and other really cool stuff. They all have cool credits that say it is from the "Smelly Tongues Secret Cinema."
Definitely one of the coolest Easter Eggs on any DVD.
Now, if the Rez would only put out a WORMWOOD show on DVD, and a 13th Anniv or a CUBE-E entire show on DVD.
Wouldn't that just make your day?

Summary: The reason DVDs were invented - literally
Review: Back in the 70's, innovators tried to come up with a system that would allow you to watch a musical film and have several different audio tracks. First, they came up with the laserdisc, and from this came DVD. FINALLY, DVD is being used the way it's supposed to. This is just a great quality DVD all around. (I mean, you can watch the music videos with a choice of TWO audio tracks - that is just so f-ing CLASSY!) The music videos are all pretty rockin, and often thought-provoking. The Residents are just the best, aren't they?

Review: Disturbing.Wonderfully disturbing.You have the option of listening to the original songs or the remix of the old songs. Personally I like the originals.Warped and twisted.Disturbed the living hell out of my friends so bad that they left the room.Gingerbread man concentrate one of the best videos on the collection. After a few watches it grows on you like an obscene fungus. Delightful.

Summary: What has happened to the Residents over the years?
Review: Don't get me wrong. I love this dvd. But, like a previous reviewer, I have to say that I could not listen to the newly recorded 5.1 audio tracks all the way through. I hate to say it, but this stuff sounds like alternative muzak. Switching between the original audio and the new recordings is a revelation. While the Residents' music used to have an edge, even on their "softer" sounding songs, now they always sound like they are taking some sort of major tranquilizer. I would much prefer a remix to 5.1 of the original recordings, but I wouldn't be surprised to learn that they no longer have the original session multitracks. Still, I give this 4 stars because many of these videos are great and the original audio, at least on most of the tunes, is great as well. I would like to correct an erroneous attribution, however: The Residents were far from being the first to make music videos, unless you think music videos began with MTV. Many acts in the 60's made music videos as a way to promote their latest hits. I once saw a collection of these at a local movie house, and the program referred to these videos as Scopatones (sp?). Featured were such acts as Lesley Gore, Bobby Darin, Petula Clark, and Dusty Springfield, all way before the Rez's time. And I'm not even sure whether these were the earliest music videos. Does anyone have any knowledge of earlier acts making such videos?

Review: First of all, this is a DVD. NOT a compact disc. It contains videos for: The Third Reich 'n' Roll, Constantinople, Moisture, Perfect Love, The Act Of Being Polite, The Simple Song, Kick A Picnic, Songs For Swinging Larvae, He Also Serves, This Is A Man's World, Harry The Head, The Gingerbread Man (concentration), Jelly Jack, Just For You, Stars And Stripes Forever, Where Is She, Burn Baby Burn, Hello Skinny, Bad Day On The Midway, and Vileness Fats. It contains 2 different soundtracks you can listen to: the original works or new versions of the old songs. All in all there is 60 minutes of video and 120 minutes of music. All of the videos are great and the new 17 minute version of Vileness Fats makes more sense than the old 32 minute version.

Summary: GREAT, BUT NOT FOR EVERYONE
Review: First off, let it be known that I am a huge fan of the residents. aving said that, this DVD is one of my all time favorites. This a a retrospective of the strangest and most original musical group to ever grace our planet. The images range from disturbing, to out right comical. The music is pure residents, attempting to describe it any other way is pointless. The newer recordings on this disc are produced using dolby 5.1 sound that moves around the room and sometimes will shake the walls with it's bass.
If you are a fan, or even casual listener, of the Residents, buy this DVD NOW!! If you have never heard of the Residents and are not a fan of VERY strange experimental music. Do NOT buy this DVD. As I said I love Icky Flicks, but my wife, and just about everyone else I know hates it.

Summary: PARDON THE PUN - "The EYES have it!"
Review: Having always had an extremely open mind to music that 'strays' from the typical, I'm ashamed to admit that my first exposure to The Residents wasn't until this year. I had certainly been aware of them - "hey, it's that band with the eyeballs for heads!" - but simply hadn't made myself available to their music, or better, art. Oh what a sheltered life I've led.....this stuff is absolutely AMAZING! I'm not going to try to describe it; I don't believe anyone's review could do justice to the sheer 'twistedness' of their work. If you were the kind of kid that got a kick out of "Mad" or "Cracked" magazine, you'll love this. If you're a Zappa fan, you probably already love them. If not, give this a try....you'll see...

Summary: Not for the timid !
Review: Having seen The Residents live twice, I can say they are more of a perfomance troupe than a musical band. From low budget to hi-tech, computer graphics to black-and-white, and everything in between, they certianly do entertain on this DVD. But, the question is, is this YOUR idea of entertainment? For the average Joe, probably not. Moody, ugly, beautiful, and at times twistedly funny, this one hour collection of visual interpretations of thier music does absolutely nothing to clear up who The Residents are or what they're doing. But that makes it all the better. Art for art's sake. My favorites are the 10 minute "The Gingerbread Man" and the "Bad Day On The Midway" video. Made me want to dig up and play the old "Bad Day..." CD-rom. When all is said and done, anyone would have to admit they have never seen anything quite like this. At times I'm reminded of some Frank Zappa instrumental music that was put to claymation (The Amazing Mr. Bickford), but that's a stretch. Several... reviewers have whined that thay bought this DVD on some... critic's recommendation, and they didn't like it. If this behavior amuses you, you'll love this disc.

Summary: A Wondeful DVD with amazing new and old music
Review: I don't understand the other reviewers who felt applaed at the new music on here. I love both the old and new audio. I had the great oppertunity of seeing this band play Icky Flix live in Chicago and it was astounding. This is the kind of DVD that is a great investment because it can be watched over and over again. I really can't get tired of any of this. All this videos are very Dadaist, and therefore actually get better with each viewing. Each video and song is unbelievable to me. Please pick this up. If you're new to The Residents get Not Available, God in Three Persons, or Eskimo.
