Summary: Blue Oyster Cult -- Live 1976
Review: Frankly, I'm surprised so many people have dissed thisdisc. I'm glad I bought it before I read the reviews -- the soundquality is poor, sure, and the video could be better too, but remember, this was recorded in 1976! Before MTV, before the digital revolution, back when you actually had to be a good musician to have a career playing music. This is BOC in all their Don Kirshner's Rock Concert glory -- Eric preening in a leather jumpsuit, Albert going absolutely nuts during one of the great heavy metal tunes of all time, "Cities on Flame." And Buck is simply one of rock music's great guitarists -- he moves from beautiful melody to dissonant noise in a heartbeat, without a single cliche in the entire show. Buck is very alive and well here ... you just have to be paying attention! Plus, if BOC is five years past its prime here, then their prime would have been roughly a year before their first album came out! Get real -- this is good, honest rock and roll, performed with skill and love for complex, intelligent music. I've never liked the typical heavy metal band, and I hate prog rock, but somehow BOC rises above all that, all the while staying charmingly within that same context -- drum and bass solos and all. Sure, "Don't Fear the Reaper" is a little hurried here, but this was before the song had acquired its full anthem status. It could be compared to Nirvana hurrying through "Teen Spirit," before the song had taken on its real meaning. On the down side, the song choices could be better -- I'd like "Last Days of May," personally, and Eric's rock star stage persona can get tiresome, but the disc is not nearly as bad as some people have said. Obviously these people have never heard the poor sound quality of bootlegs, where the performance is more important than 16-bit digital sound. Frankly, I'm glad to have this disc, and I hope more people buy it, so distributors will have an incentive to put out more -- hopefully better recorded -- material. BOC deserves a better reputation than they have received of late, and it's no coincidence that they are one of the few bands of this era still going. They are a classic rock band and this is a classic performance. END

Summary: On your feet or on your knees ... ! ! !
Review: Got to love Blue Öyster Cult ! =)

One of the hardest, breathtaking bands around in their day and still at it.

The sound on this isnt bad but its not the greatest so be expecting it not to be the greatest, but still, its Blue Öyster Cult back in the day, not New Öyster Cult nowdays playing old songs!

The famouse lazer show where they eventually gotten sued for supposedly blowing out someones eyes with a reflection from one of the lazer lights shinning off Buck Dharma's gutair out into the crowd is in here as well... not the eyes getting blow out inccodent but that would of made for a nice show too =)

If you like Blue Öyster Cult this does capture the raw might they had in their earlier shows!

Enjoy!

Summary: Not a fair representation of bands' talent...
Review: Grainy picture, terrible sound, this DVD is only worth the buy if you were actually at the show. I was not unfortunately. BOC is a great band and the DVD does not represent this at all. Don't waste your money on this DVD.

Summary: TERRIFYING!
Review: How could a BOC fan countence the release of this garbage? This is the worst rock video ever made. Fooloish and irrepentable. The psychadelic make-overs are laughable at best. There are no production values. Although BOC presents some of thier finer early work, this video manages to destroy them all. HOW DARE YOU!

Summary: UNSPEAKABLY ROTTEN!
Review: How the greatest rock/metal band ever cold submit this truly awful video to their adoring fans is baffling. I've seen them the world over at least a dozen times over the last 25 years and am mesmerized by how truly terrible it is. Maybe everyone involved in this wooden production - including the band - got hit by a truck just before the show. Save yourself...and avoid this video all costs. You have been warned!

Summary: "1976" is a good video!
Review: I agree with the person from northern california; this is a good concert. The quality is not tops, but it is fun to watch! I'd recommend it to anyone; as long as the understand that it does have it's falts.

Summary: Only good for a flashback!
Review: I am a huge BOC fan... And the Amazon.com editorial is obviously written by someone obviously rather ignorant of the band... But truth be told... This DVD is pretty horrible. The sound mix is dreadful as it appears to be from the soundboard without a decent remix, and the pic is so grainy and dark it's as if it was transfered right from a 2nd generation VHS tape. On the plus side... The set list is pretty good despite the before mentioned problems in quality (Included is the rarely played 5 Guitars), but the band performs without their usual tightness. Also of possible interest is the fact that this performance is a flashback to the Oyster Boys laser days showmanship before hitting the club scene... But personally, I found my money WAY better spent on BOC's "A Long Days Night" DVD! Now there is a quality BOC DVD!!!

Summary: Soon to be a collector's item
Review: I believe this has been discontinued. Probably a must-have relic for hard-core BOC fans, pointless for anyone else. As has been stated elsewhere, it's simply a video of the band captured and displayed during the concert for the benefit of people in bad seats. Fixed cameras, minimal editing, accidental lighting -- not exactly a pleasure to watch. I've always admired "Don't Fear the Reaper," but I found its performance as well as all the others on this DVD less than compelling. My attention wandered constantly away from the screen.

Summary: Very Interesting
Review: I had heard about this concert footage a couple of years ago and was never able to track it down. Glad i finally found it. The quality of the audio is dubious at best but for hard core BOC fans that should not detract from the overall pleasure of this movie. I saw the tour that this movie was from about 2 weeks before it was shot and from what i can remember its pretty close to the way it was back in the day. The problems with the audio probably have to due with the line to the tape machine. i cant believe that the concert would have gone on if it sounded like what was being recorded. fyi the soundman was probably listening to the feed coming off the main board going to the tape machine and not what was being recorded. as for all you people that disses this disc i ask have you listened to Areosmiths live bootleg lately? how abot The Song Remains The Same? anyway i was extremely glad to finally add this jewel to my dino rock collection and would gladly buy it again.
