Summary: The soundtrack for the 80's generation.
Review: If you like the eroticism of the movies "Basic Instinct", "9 1/2 Weeks" and "Wild Orchid", you will love the music of Depeche Mode. Videos of "Strangelove", "Never Let Me Down Again", "Enjoy the Silence", "Policy of Truth", "Walking In My Shoes", "In Your Room" and "Only When I Lose Myself" are all masterpieces in the music video genre. Songs such as "Stripped" are classics. Depeche Mode is the greatest band to emerge from the modern music era, which began with the first British invasion in 1964. The band interviews are revealing. Currently the best male vocalist in pop music, singer David Gahan seems very uncomfortable with fame. Perhaps that was the cause of his former heroin addiction. Keyboardist Alan Wilder, received a formal education in classical music. This is a must-have video for anyone under 35 years of age. If you are old enough to have gone to the original Woodstock, stop thinking about buying this video. You are to old. Besides, you wouldn't really like it. Probably. Besides, loyal DM fans are glad the band isn't hugely popular. After all, it wouldn't be very 'cool' if everyone liked it.

Summary: Great compilation of DM music & video
Review: If you're a true DM fan as I am, this is a treasure and must-have. The quick commentaries and background on the videos are quite comical and sheds light on what a great group DM is. It's no surprise how they've lasted for almost 20 years. Although the picture quality isn't that great, DVD itself is awesome. Good enough to leave on and listen to even if you're not watching.

Summary: There were videos missing.
Review: In general, I enjoyed this DVD, although my main problem with it was that the videos I was expecting to see in this collection were not on this collection. Where's "Shake the Disease," the original "Strangelove," "Halo," "Clean," "It's Called A Heart," and most importantly, "People Are People?" I can go on and on about this...

Like I said from the beginning, good DVD, but the person who compiled it left a lot of the good ones out.

Summary: Excellent, but not complete
Review: It's a great video. Good thing it is FINALLY on DVD. Note that they did film a video for "One Caress" which is not on this collection. So saying that it's *every* video they did 86-98 is not true.

Summary: Great collection, but expected better quality from DVD
Review: It's great to have all the later videos in one collection, but I found the audio and video quality left a lot to be desired. While I expected the videos to be grainy due to the 8 and 16mm film transfers, I felt they should at least rival their earlier "Strange" VHS releases. I actually pulled out my old VHS copy of "Strange Too" just to make sure I wasn't going crazy. I found the audio to be muffled & dull and the video to be darker and lacking definition on the DVD when doing an A/B comparison of the two. I can't believe I actually enjoyed the audio and video quality of a VHS tape better than the DVD. It's a great collection and I would recommend it, but it left me somewhat disapponted.

Summary: I agree with Katherine! DM DVD is fabulous!
Review: Now for all those who are somewhat "disappointed" in the DM DVD, I suggest you watch it again! Besides all the CD I have, this DVD really is the best I have seen in my life. I have no regrets what so ever purchasing this DVD. All the videos on the DVD brings back memories that I will always cherish. For all true DM fans, you know what I'm talking about! If you have not yet purchased this DVD and thinking about it, I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed. I guarantee it!

Summary: Need a good amplifier
Review: O.K. O.K. This DVD is not as good, as it should be. But if you have a good Dolby Pro Logic/AC3 amplifier you can make it sound better. Connect the DVD Player digital spdif out to the digital in on the amp., and choose DProL. decoding. My Onkyo does the work what sould have done in the studio. Yes, you are right, Depeche Mode deservs more!

Summary: DM: Greatest electronic rock band ever. here's the proof
Review: Ok. I own this on VHS, and it looks great. But despite all the comments from people trashing about the gritty look of it on DVD, i can tell ya the content part of it is amazing. Depeche Mode have been surrounded by a lot of creative people that, like themseleves, want to give their listeners other kinds of art. Depeche Mode has been my fav band of all time for 13 years, and they still rock - i love Pixies, Garbage, NIN, Pink Floyd, Manson, Bjork, and others too - and to enjoy comments by top-photographer Anton Corbijn, whose worke i've always admired, and Flood - such a great producer - and Daniel Miller, is really neat. Buy this thing on VIDEO or DVD. If you're a DM fan, it's some great reward. he,he

Summary: Great Retrospective
Review: Overall, this is a wonderful retrospective of *nearly* every Depeche video ever made... it does contain EVERY significant video. My only complaint... the obscure video for the song One Caress is missing.

Summary: If you like DM, you will love this DVD!
Review: Remember when MTV used to play videos? If you do and you are a Depeche Mode fan, then you are in luck. The nice people at Warner Brothers put together every video the band made from 1986 to 1998. However, don't expect to use the Dolby digital feature of that new receiver, the whole DVD is in PCM. Although the sound is good, it is not great. Anyway, for an enjoyable trip down memory lane, pick up the DVD.
