MY PERSONAL RATING .... 5 STARS

PICTURE QUALITY: Fullscreen format not digitally remastered, lots of artifacts and grain ("as seen on TV"); nevertheless enjoyable

SOUND QUALITY: Presented in the original sound format; nothing special about it; the CDs sound a bit better than the videos but that is not a problem

EXTRA MATERIAL: Just a 23rd "short film" - exactly the same as on the VHS version

GOOD REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BUY THIS DVD:
- What DM fan would not like to have all their videos?

No difference between the VHS version and this DVD but on DVD the quality doesn't suffer due to endless watching sessions :)

Summary: DM And the Women in Videos 1986-1998
Review: 1. In the beginning there's a interview with DM which lasts about 7 minutes.

2. Stripped: The first video is quite a good. They are breaking the car and all that kind of things. 3.5/5

3. A Question of Lust: A good peaceful track. This is a live video except there's a band ringing the bells in the end. 2.5/5

4. A Question of Time: There's motor vehicle and good going. 2.5/5

5. Strangelove: There's a prostitute in the video, quite a good video. 4.25/5

6. Never Let Me Down Again: In the beginning the vocalist is just sitting next to an old man. Then somebody is driving a car. 2/5

7. Behind the Wheel: Nothing interesting, just basic stuff, women and so on. 2/5

8. Little 15: This is a video about a girl's life. 2.5/5

9. Everything Counts (live): All kinds of things, there's a man buying a guitar and so on. 2/5

10. Personal Jesus: Wild wild West and women 4.25/5

11. Enjoy the Silence: There's a king who goes to a hill and to s shore. 3/5

12. Policy of Truth: a disapointing video, nothing interesting 1.5/5

13. World in My Eyes: They're watching movies and so on. 2.5/5

14. I Feel You: The vocalist has finally a long hair. There's also a beautiful girl in the video. 4/5

15. Walking in my shoes: A classic song, a classic video. There's cool colours, there's all kinds of people, beautiful and ugly in the corners. There's also ice skating. 4.75/5

16. Condemnation: a live video where's also two women singing. 2.25/5

17. In Your Room: there's a queen and lights... 2.75/5

18. Barrel of a Gun: A great video! Vocalist's hair is changing, a light jacket, very creepy. It's like watching the whole video from the barrel of a gun. 4.75/5

19. It's no Good: Women in the video. 2.75/5

20. Home: The band is in a house singing. 2/5

21. Useless: The most boring video I've seen from Depeche Mode. They are on the beach. 0.5/5

22. Only When I Lose Myself: Women again. 2.75/5

23. An interview

There's a good package of videos but the videos aren't so good. If you're a true DM fan you need this one. Most of the songs are great too but the quality of videos is varying.

Summary: Good Collection of Songs, But Disappointing Fidelity...
Review: Although I'm a big Depeche Mode fan going back to their early years (and attended almost all of their NY area concerts during their heyday), this DVD left me wanting. The sound quality just wasn't there, as the sound tracks used PCM (standard CD quality pulse code modulation). It would have been great to have the soundtrack remastered for surround using Dolby Digital 5.1 or even better DTS 5.1. So little effort was made to make this a "real" DVD in terms of surround information. On the positive side the video/song selection is great, so its still worth buying if you are a fan.

Summary: Gotta-have for Depeche Modeians
Review: Any1 who is a Depeche Modeian (and you know who you are) has got to have this DVD. It has videos of all the songs of the 86-98 CD. There are plenty of interviews with the band and gives some insight as to why there vids have always had a kinda non-conformist theme to them. But then again DM has never conformed to mainstream music and that is why they are my MOST FAVORITE band of all time (besides Martin's GREAT lyrics).
Must have for pure Depeche followers.

Summary: Good collection but I wish it was 81-98,
Review: As far as I know, there's not a video collection to go along with the 81-85 CD. For the reviewer who was complaining about the "quality" of the early videos, those are all from the Music for the Masses era, and were filmed in grainy black and white on purpose (I assume). That's what the videos look like. That's what they looked like in 1987. All in all, though, great collection of DM's videos. Especially the ones that weren't released in the states like Home and Little 15.

Summary: Going On With Depeche Mode
Review: Bonus materials with Anton Corbijn, music video director and Depeche Mode members are so precious as well as the 'cool' and sophisticated video clips. Depeche Mode in this DVD confirm that they never cease to catch up with contemporary music scenes. And even they excel any other bands.

Summary: Esperaba mas de este DVD

Summary: Excellent Band but a disappointing DVD
Review: Depeche Mode are one of my favorite bands of all time. Their album Violator is one of my top ten favorite albums of all time (in a list, believe it or not, containing Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Beatles, Eagles etc). While putting together a nice package such as this is a commendable task for a band that has always treated its fans well (consider the many cd singles, various versions of their songs), I was appalled by the poor quality of the picture. The picture was grainy all the way through the DVD. It appeared to be recorded from a television signal on a Fisher VCR. Im surprised no one else mentioned this in their review. As for the sound, its quite mediocre too. Had it not been for the interviews and the number of vidoes included, I would have given it a much lower rating. Too bad, and a shame. Anyhow that's how this DVD looked -- through my eyes.
