Summary: Surf's Up
Review: A very valiant and heroic return to the stage by Jan Berry. After a near fatal accident leaves his partially paralyzed and unable to speak for a long time Jan proves that with iron will and raw dtermination you can overcome any disabilty.

This is an excellent example of Jan Berry and Dean Torrence doing what they have always done perfectly. Sing. Though Jan is slightly off-key you must listen past that and hear a great performer making a very strong come back.

Though Jan has left us his spirit and his music will live always in the hearts of his REAL fans.

So everyone grab your boards and wax em down. Beccause the Surf Is UP.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A must for Jan & Dean Fans
Review: All the songs we remember. Filmed shortly after Jan's recovery from that terrible accident. You'll want to watch it again & again !

Summary: SUCKO CITY!!
Review: Great music....badly dated performance! Jan Berry has just recovered from his accident and makes a valiant effort to achieve former glory, but he is so far off key in stuff like "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" and "Ride The Wild Surf" that it hurts. The band's versions of Beach Boy classics (like "Dance, Dance, Dance) are pretty ordinary. Guys in the band do a lot of vocals. The whole thing reminds me of a bad kareoke night at the local bar...listen to "Dead Man's Curve", it's almost like a 'Gong Show' act. Check out their records instead. Jan and Dean cut some great wax but this concert doesn't do their legend any justice. Only good points: Great Hawaiian shirts....and momentary salvation is provided by the always welcome Flo and Eddie. Don't buy this unless you're a masochist!

Review: Great music....badly dated performance! Jan Berry has just recovered from his accident and makes a valiant effort to achieve former glory, but....well, maybe the time wasn't right. He tries hard but he is so far off key in stuff like "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" and "Ride The Wild Surf" that it hurts. I really feel for the guy...he gives it his best shot and you gotta admire that. I really wanted this to be a cool experience but I was disappointed that it didn't work for me. Maybe it will for you.

Summary: " KEEP YOUR MEMORIES GOLDEN "
Review: I grew up in southern California in the 1960's and went Inglewood high school. I have a lot of fond memories of those days. In particular, I remember the "PIER" at Venice beach
referred to as P.O.P. "or" spelled out "Pacific Ocean Park"
a wonderful old amusement park complete with an old wooden roller coaster and all the rides that make up a great amusement
park. It was here that one could hear and feel the rich "REVERB" from the classic surf guitars of " DICK DALE &
THE DEL-TONES" and the "VENTURES" along with "JAN & DEAN" and other groups of that era. These bands played their surf music for "FREE" (cost of admission to thee park). Unfortunately, now the pier is "GONE" and only the golden memories are left for the very fortunate that were there to experience this surf music history. It is of my opinion that you "SKIP" this
"JAN & DEAN MUSIC DVD" and buy JAN & DEAN compact disc original remastered recordings. If you take to heart what I am saying, then you will most certainly "KEEP YOUR MEMORIES GOLDEN".......

Summary: GREAT DVD!
Review: This DVD is a LIVE Concert performance done by Jan & Dean in the early 80's. Jan & Dean (and the Bel Air Bandits) do LIVE versions of all their classic hits including "Baby Talk" "Linda" "New Girl In School" "Surf City" "Honolulu Lulu" "Ride the Wild Surf" "Sidewalk Surfin" "Drag City" "The Little Old Lady From Pasedena" and "Deadman's Curve"! Plus, other great songs from the 60's! All great songs in this show! For those you don't know, Jan Berry was in a tragic car crash in 1966 which left him with severe brain damage and partial paralysis. However, Jan proves in this DVD that he won't let ANYTHING stop him from doing what he loves so much, MUSIC! This show is one of Jan & Dean's best performances from the "post-accident" era. Jan's voice is not quite the same as it use to be, but Jan sounds pretty good for a guy who virtually "came back from the dead", and was told that he may never walk or talk again. It's not only a really good show, but actually quite inspirational!!! Jan is quite a guy. And, Jan & Dean can still really get the crowd going!!!
