Summary: a MUST have for fans of The Tea Party -especially in the US
Review: As a US fan of The Tea Party (who has no access to Much Music via cable)I've enjoyed their cds but have never seen their videos. Well this DVD takes care of that. You get 14 videos chronicalling their career, and almost every video is great. The DVD has an excellant transfer, the sound is in awesome 5.1. And the disc's menus and layouts are very cool. Very well done too with special features like commentary from the band and lyric features! All in all you can't go wrong with this disc. If your a fan you must buy it, if your not a fan buy this or see them live and BECOME a fan!
Cheers!

Summary: A Superb Buy
Review: Following the release of their greatest hits cd 'Tangents' The Tea Party come out with a collection of all their music videos. This DVD is a great example of how music can sound on DVD. Band leader Jeff Martin remastered all videos in 5.1 surround sound, allowing the viewer to get into his head. This dvd also features a behind the scenes feature on the video for 'walking wounded', commentary from the band on all videos, as well as easter eggs, band bios, even karaoke! Musical artists take note, this is how music video DVD's should be made. Fully immersive and perfect.

Summary: Greatest Hits
Review: I got this as an early Christmas gift this year and I'm so happy I did. I've been wanting this since it came out.

It has the bands best songs and a wonderful behind the scenes from the filming of Walking Wounded. SO much hard work went into making such a great video, although you do have to go digging around to find the footage. It's in there!

The dvd DOES play on a Playstation 2, contrary to what someone else said.

The videos are gorgeous. The Tea Party has such a unique style that no one else even comes close to. A lot of people don't appreciate this band and the music they create.

All around, it's a great collection of wonderful music and visions. Get it.

Summary: A bit ticked...
Review: I really love the band the Tea Party. This DVD is a great idea. One problem... I have a playstation 2 as my main DVD player and it does not play this disc. There is a warning on it that says it may not play in some consoles, but when my girlfriend bought it for me for xmas, I don't think it said that anywhere on Amazon's website.

So anyway. I don't know if the disc skips based on the fact it's not made to play on game consoles, or because it is scratched... but I'm bummed.

I just want to say that you should still get this DVD but beware if you have a PS2.

Summary: The Illuminating Tea Party
Review: Released in conjunction with their "Tangents " cd, "Illuminations" is the very first DVD compilation from Tea Party. The fourteen tracks on this disc comprise the major label video history of the trio, including the Australian-only vid for "Shadows On The Mountainside", which was previously available as part of the computer portion of "Alhambra".
This is truly a fan's treat as the extras on the dvd include band commentaries, a discography, lyrics & biographies, and an audio- only option. Options also include a choice of 2.0 stereo sound, DTS, or 5.1 Dolby surround sound to enhance listening enjoyment.
While long-time fans may be disappointed that the vid for the indie single, "Let Me Show You The Door" wasn't included, the disc more than makes up for it by adding behind the scenes coverage of the making of the video for "Walking Wounded". The video history of Tea Party is available now and is truly an illuminating experience.

Summary: Every music video DVD compilation should be this good
Review: The driving force behind the Tea Party, Jeff Martin, may very well be the spiritual lovechild of classic rock icons Jim Morrison and Jimmy Page and as such your tolerance for the Tea Party is very likely dependent on how many times you can listen to Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" played consecutively before either selecting another track from Led Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti" album or choosing to do anything at all else that may avail itself at the time.

The Tea Party, while being a certainly competant group of musicians, are hardly innovative or even remotely original on the music scene. They are clearly a band formed 10 years after their time, in that they would have been most at home going toe-to-toe with Whitesnake in the '80's as being the best Led Zeppelin tribute act ever to score a major recording contract.

Having said all that, it has to be said that these guys know how to market a video compilation DVD. This is an amazing collection of videos. There are multiple audio choices, ranging from the bare bones 2.0 stereo option to the 5.1 surround sound to the DTS 5.1 option to the relatively unheard-of "band commentary" track that allows for band insight for each video included in this collection.

Considering how many successful bands have made their careers via video since 1981 (Duran Duran, anyone?), it is unbelievable how few bands have decided to release compilation DVD's without commentary tracks. The "making of" featurette that is also included with this collection is also particularly insightful and entertaining, and the overall lasting impression I have of this band (whose 1997 album "Transmission" is one of my favorites of the entire decade) is that they obviously appreciate their fans and want to release the best possible package for their benefit.

The Tea Party make good videos and they obviously had a lot of input regarding the release of this DVD. I can't help but wish them the best of success, but this disc is best recommended for die-hard fans of the band; the lack of variety in the Tea Party's overall sound makes it difficult for me to recommend the DVD to anyone who isn't already a fan of the band.

Summary: The visuals are just amazing!
Review: There is a total of 14 songs on this DVD, covering most of The Tea Party's albums. The many different videos on here show truely amazing visuals, showing the stories behind the music.

Oddly remeniscient of Nine Inch Nails crossed with Jim Morrison. You can see the high points and low points in the life of the band mapped in the songs portrayed.

The quality is good, the picture is clear and there are many different sound choices you can select, from Dolby to Standard Stereo.
