Review: A little bit of background: I saw this show in London...WOW and I, like another reviewer, bought a code-free DVD player just for this DVD from Australia. Both the trip abroad and the purchase of another DVD player were totally worth it!

This DVD demonstrates everything wonderful about Kylie and fills in the gap for US fans between 'The Loco-Motion' in 1988 and 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' in 2002. The set list gives a fair representation of her career overall - especially the "hit" Medley featured mid-concert (a definite highlight). The updating of some otherwise dated material works great.

Beyond that, it demonstrates what an incredible live performer Kylie is. She moves beyond the pack of her contemporaries by actually singing and dancing live...and pulling it off. She may not be considered a powerhouse singer, but what you hear on the album is what you hear live - sometimes even better.

Other artists are so dead serious on the stage (Janet, Madonna) especially in their efforts to be "cool" that the fun quotient suffers in the process. This show is fun and Kylie seems to be having as much fun as the audience. It's old fashioned entertainment made modern. Consequently, Kylie has never been cooler.

Highlights include a show-stopping big-band version of her 1990 hit, 'Better the Devil You Know, a sultry cover version of Olivia Newton-John's 'Physical', the space-age but retro "robot" version of her own 'Light Years' and the pure bliss of her number one hit, 'Spinning Around'.

She also debuted the world-wide super hit 'Can't Get You Out of My Head' in these shows and once you seen it you won't be able to get the entire show out of your head.

Review: I agree with other reviewers. Its refreshing to see a pop star sing her tunes live in concert. Kylie is very sexy and performs all of her hits. We stateside, cant wait till she tours here.

Review: I bought this DVD on sale. It was such a bargain!!! I paid full price for the Fever2002 Tour DVD. I actually liked this concert better because it showed a humbler, gentler Kylie that was more connected to her audience. The musical numbers were livelier as well. The only thing that could have been improved was some of the costumes. She may not have Celine Dion's voice, but she sings everything live. She sounds just like she does in her recordings. It will make you LOVE her if you don't yet.

Review: I have to admit, I have only heard the name Kylie Minogue for the last ten years. At least until last year. "Fever" was a big deal here in this country, and I bought it, and loved every minute. It was a pop album, but it didn't sound like Britney, or Christina, or even Madonna. That's MY kind of pop album. Then, I heard that a couple of her concerts were out on DVD, and I got a Playstation 2, so I dove in and bought "Live In Sydney". All I can say is that this is like no concerts I can remember. Yeah, I saw Madonna, and Janet Jackson, and Britney (against my will). This concert was different for one big reason...

1) Kylie sang all the songs live, and her voice was intact from start to finish!

Having seen the other pop concerts, lip synching is a big turn off. Kylie really shocked me in a good way, and the fact that her voice just stayed pretty steady (even when she was dancing) the whole time sold it for me. I wasn't familiar with most of the songs, but when all was said and done, I heard some new favorites of mine. This DVD captures her energy and kindness and class so well. The crowd was great (what did you expect, it's her home country!), and the music was fun. This was also the first time that the smash hit "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" was played live. Very organic sounding compared to the version we know of. But, it got me off my chair, so mission accomplished. This DVD is a good look at this woman's career at it's peak (before Fever), and it's definitely recommended for Kylie newbies or old fans. You'll have fun, and that's all that matters!

Summary: Soulful & sensuous flirtation with unadulterated magnificenc
Review: I haven't generally followed pop music for the last couple of decades, being more or less caught up in writing my own music, in genres unsuitable for pop release. I became aware of Kylie from a video clip on a Bally's TV ad, and finally got to check her out.

Because of the newness factor I didn't experience the kick into high gear until "Physical" - from then on, I was totally captivated by the music, the dancing, (what I could hear of) the message, everything!

Kylie does this old Olivia Newton-John tune at a somewhat slower pace, in more a dance than a rock groove. As other reviewers note - sultry it is; but it's beyond that - there's a passion, some might even consider it a spiritual inner flame burning, consuming her as she does her pole dance - while holding a wireless microphone in one hand, I might add. She's in the midst of 4 more scantily clad female Italian dancers on/with their own poles. The track is altogether mesmerizing - intensity is raised to a fever pitch. Plus you hear one of the most sublime funk guitar solos ever recorded. And there's this little hitch/hook they put into the rhythm at the beginning of each chorus . . .

From here on the intensity (plus the conveyance of Kylie's signature brand of 'meaningfulness') never let up for me.

Another tune that thoroughly bowled me over was the song "Light Years". This with its strenuously joyous tone evoked the earliest space-rock song - way back in the beginning of the 60's, the chart-topping "Telstar" by the British band the Tornadoes (Telstar was an early communications satellite). The groove is impulsive - the melody, singing and dancing infectious - and the rhythms grip you in a subtly powerful way. In certain sections the outstanding keyboardist gets busy sounding like the Moody Blues' mellotron player, dating from their 'In Search of the Lost Chord" album, and he never overdoes it.

There's no hint of the eerie (so powerfully expressed in the Rolling Stones' "2000 Light Years from Home"), or the thunderously negative reverberations of Pink Floyd's "Interstellar Overdrive" - still there's nothing lightweight going on in this track. I couldn't make out all the words on this first hearing, but I doubt it's too far removed from the soul searching familiar from the Byrds' space-rock oeuvre - "Eight Miles High", "5D", Mr. "Spaceman", and the lengthy "Space Odyssey". Even if not the lyrics, the feeling's all there - just one more living monument of magnificence.

Musically, Kylie and/or her production team have assembled a formidable group of musicians and writers. Her backup singers are astoundingly talented. The different sounds the keyboardist lends to the multiple grooves are tasty, sinuous, profound, searing, environmentally overarching - whatever is needed, and performed with such aplomb as to be unobtrusive, while essential to the overall story/sound. The guitarist and rhythm section are complete masters of the many beats, styles and sub-genres which so effectively interlock to make this music what it is.

Visually (and in some sense musically) Kylie somewhat evokes Madonna, but without the iconic self-absorption, and totally minus the hard-edged art crowd vibe. But her content, her depth, mirrored in the genuine devotion and elation of her fans, seems more in the direction of the ever-wonderful Ms. Carey.

The dancing and choreography is, as usual with concert footage, difficult to fully grasp/appreciate, being that you can only see what a given camera angle is able to display. These film editors have maybe the most difficult job in the universe. As I think about it, this spectacle of sight and sound would have been almost ominously incredible to experience in person. Woe is me!

I'm looking forward to enjoying, and even studying this music for a long time to come.

Review: I just bought this DVD based on the positive reviews. However, I am very disappointed. The camera work is terrible (rapid cuts, zoom in and out) and the costumes/performance are also lacking. Avoid this one.

Review: I just got this DVD this summer and I love it. The concert is great from start to finish and I don't believe that there is a boring part to it. I really love the montage of Kylie through the years at the beginning of the concert. Some of my favorite performances are: Koocachoo, Hand on your heart, On a night like this, the collection of old songs like Step back in time, Can't get you out of my head, Physical, Light years, What do I have to do?, and Spinning Around. The video for "Spinning Around was great since I have never seen it before. The backstage footage was great as well. A must for any Kylie fan.

Summary: Live In Sidney is a fun affair
Review: I recently got into Kylie Minogue when I saw her perform "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" at the 2001 MTV Europe Music Awards.
I bought this DVD not knowing what to expect. It looked really good and I wanted to get a chance to see Kylie in concert.
I enjoy watching this concert. It's fun. You can tell everyone there had a great time.
I also had the chance to listen to tons of older Kylie songs, which I suggest for fans looking for more than "Fever." The sets range from the loveboat, to outer space. The music is mostly great. A lot of her older Stock-Aitken-Waterman material has the same sound. The more recent stuff is way better.
The DVD extras are interesting if you're curious as to what goes on behind the scenes. The video for "Spinning Around" is great (Kylie in those hot pants!).
Definetely a must have for fans who didn't get a chance to see the concert in person.
