Review: .....is exactly what this DVD will do for you.Manzarek, Dinsmore and Krieger show us that "still have it in them". The only missing element is Jim and they do wonderful with the replacement lead singers! Especially Scott Stapp of Creed. The whole DVD will leave you with goosebumps and wishng with all you've got that we still had Jim around because I'm sure he would still be putting out great music.

Review: A Doors concert without Jim Morrison. These songs without the voice they were written for. Sacrilege ??? No way man !! Jim Morrison alive was a larger than life figure who (like so many famous corpses)is even larger in death 30 years after his demise. His charisma and looks made him the standout figure of his band. But as a musician/songwriter/poet he was one of a 4 man group. His influence through his being on generations may have been his solo-achievement but as the Doors go Ray's, Robbies and Johns 75 percent is of as much importance as his 25. So now we have these songs without Jim......well..without....? I for one can hear Jim singing along with every song here performed. His voice is so imprinted in my memory that I can even hear it when somewhere a mobile phone rings Light my Fire (talk about sacrilege...). So there are other singers, alive right now giving their own interpretation of classical songs the way classical music is still performed though the original musicians are dead and buried. This in itself would be a joy to hear. But they are singing with the original bandmembers, 75 percent of the original Doors, guys who whenever they came together performed magic with music and painted whole landscapes with notes through the chemistry of their musical kinship. And these guys who were and are 75 percent of a legend are creating a 100 percent new thrill with this legendary material and the help of musicians who apart from being artists in their own right undoubtedly also hear Jim singing within their heads (and souls). So Holy Mother of God what a rush, what a mindblowing experience to hear all of these guys playing together again and to be able to be a part of it, knowing that it has been done in our (my) lifetime, that it has been done NOW !!! My only wish is that they will do it again, that the set will be much much longer, that they will play as many songs as they can and that I will be there !!!!!!!

Review: I almost did not buy this DVD, because I'd heard from one or two people that all the guest singers were "playing dress-up" as Jim Morrison. I bought it anyway, and realized they were completely wrong, right from the first track. This was a reverent tribute to The Doors and Jim Morrison. The energy and passion for the music was electric, and everyone was there just to say thanks to Jim and The Doors for bringing us their music. From their own music and the attitude these artists approached Jim's role with, it's obvious that every one of them was heavily inspired in their own art by Jim, and this is their way of giving something back to him. The backup musicians were wonderful, especially on The End. Admittedly, it took me a few listens to really enjoy hearing someone other than Jim sing it, but anyone who just sits back with an open mind and listens will definitely enjoy this. Not all of the singers were "up to Jim's level", but hell, Jim wasn't always up to Jim's level. He wasn't god, he was a creative, inspired frontman, performing with three other wonderful artists. This DVD is worth every penny, just for the musical performances by the three remaining members. The Doors have been my favorite group for about fifteen years now (*before* the movie came out, yes), and I feel very safe saying that this was the best, or at least as good as, I've ever heard them play. I've heard all the studio and live albums, even rare bootlegs. All three of them are thrilled to be back together, here. Robbie's playing was fast, incredibly controlled and filled with passion, John played the drums like a whirlwind, and Ray was ecstatically making love to his keyboards. If you're a Doors fan, or just a fan of the guest singers, I suggest you try this DVD. Don't think of it as people trying to "measure up" to Jim, or replace him, but think of it as a party in celebration of the art that he and the other three Doors created together.

Summary: Beatiful!!
Review: I bought this Dvd after having heard that it was a hit. At first I was very suprised how good it actually sounded. The sound is 100% The Doors... And to be frank, I do not miss Morrison at all. Now I know i a bold statement, but these guestssingers are really good. I have all of The Doors albums ( of course ) and a lot of concerts', but i must say this is the best. The only thing I would wish for, were more numbers. Buy it!

Summary: Please, think about what you're doing.
Review: In my opinion, this is not a good purchase. It's an example of the money making machine in action. No, I'm not one of those Doors "purists" who think that without Morrison everything is useless, I feel that the music performed on this DVD is of poor quality. If you like STP and Creed and shtuff, than you might like this. If you like the Doors, the real Doors, then buy a CD and listen to them the way they really are. If you like all star karaoke, go to a Hollywood bar. It'd be cheaper.

Summary: Too much chit-chat
Review: Interesting DVD showing the remaining members of The Doors with a little help of some of the best lead singers of the two past decades.The show is set in a small club and each song is introduced by one of the doors members-mainly Ray Manzarek, which is historically fine but sometimes annoying too.
I was very impressed with Bobby Krieger's performance who is definitly a solid guitar player, on the other hand drummer Densmore is quite pathetic...and really ungroovy, and there's also a bass player on each song(finally!?).
Hard to replace JIM MORRISON? Maybe for the charisma, but for the singing itself all singers do a very impressive performance.
My favourite...IAN ASTBURY(The Cult) who unfortunatelly doesn't get to sing the best numbers...but whathever, he's the one touring with The Doors as I speak.
A good concert, very warm performances(why is L.A. WOMAN cut?), I just wish they would have put the bonus tracks as part of the concert and the history behind the songs and old memories as the bonus part.
Curious to see or hear a full concert of THE(new)DOORS with ASTBURY on vocals and apparently Stewart COPELAND(The Police) on drums!

Summary: Jim is sorely missed.
Review: It's unrealistic to expect any singer to live up to Jumbo's standard. Morrison was, in most people's minds, one of the most dynamic and charismatic front-men in rock history. The Doors chemistry was the interaction between Morrison's powerful voice and the bands hard driving psychedelic-jazz-rock sound. The problem with this DVD is that it's a performance of the 60's most electrifying band with some the most faceless and boring singers of the past 20 years. Monahan and Meeks come off like a bar room covers band with their generic delivery of The Doors standards "Love Me Two Times" and "The End" and Ian Astbury (Jim "official" replacement for a later reunion tour) is so stiff you can his joints creak has he try to awkwardly lumber around the stage in an attempt to capture Morrison's "wild man of rock" essence. As for Creed's Scott Strapp, his rendition of "Light My Fire," is as lifeless and bland as his own bands music. However it's not all bad, The Doors themselves are on fire and Stone Temple Pilots singer, Scott Weiland does the Lizard King justice as he tares though "Break On Through" and "Five to One". But sadly (in what could have been a highlight) we only get a mere 30 seconds of the tale end of Perry Farrell's stellar version of "L.A. Woman". Is worth it, only as a curiosity for Doors fans.

Summary: A great tribute
Review: No, it is not possible to replace Jim Morrison, but the Doors show that they are still an amazing band. To have recorded a session of songs with multiple singers, who each bring their own feel to the songs they performed, and make wonderful music is a feat that deserves to be witnessed. I'm not a big Creed fan, but Scott Stapp gives a good performance. My favorite track has to be "The End" performed by Travis Meeks, the singer/songwriter for Days of the New. Of all the performances, this one seems to capture exactly what the Doors are all about. Those who enjoy this performance should also check out Days of the New's "Red" album. It came out in September and is a great cd to listen to.

Summary: What great Show!
Review: Thank you doors for such a great show & it blew me out of the water although i personally i would've had a couple more numbers to the set like, love her madly & people are strange . but besides that bravo too ya you guys cooked . a must for any doors fan or non ones . travis meeks steals the show by his performance of infamous song The End disturbing& beautiful at the same time . A warning to parents there is mild strong lauauage mostly due to the f word being used as part of the song the end , thank goodness for the mute button on tv others things. to parents that are still concerned the rest the show is very enjoyable & clean i've watched it more times than to count, but a very cookin show right on . my fav's are wild child & light my fire , five to one , roadhouse blues . but i'm a doors fan so it's hard to choose just one out of the bunch. PG-13 for mild strong lauauage. But recommend it none the less, rock on you crazy cats.
