Rating: Summary: Not Quite What I Expected Review: First off, I'm a huge fan of Foghat.....especially their first few albums. I was kind of expecting concert footage of them from a couple of decades ago, but instead it's the older versions of Foghat playing an outdoor venue today. The sound is pretty good, but I think better song selection would have been better, and the video camera angles was pretty lame. I enjoyed the conversations they had with the guys (in the extras footage), and Lonesome Dave has been a hero of mine since back in the late 1960's Savoy Brown era. This was OK, but not great. All we ever got to see in the concert footage of the drummer was the back of him........little or no footage of him banging away on the skins. Stage lighting was mediocre too. You know they're loving their music and it's great to see the 4 of them together, but in my mind I had envisioned seeing the Foghat of 30 years ago, and instead it was a stage of old men (just like me).......still playing great, but moving allot slower on stage. Maybe the next Foghat video that will soon be available will improve on some of this stuff.

Rating: Summary: THE ORIGINAL BOOGIE BAND!!! Review: No its not Savoy Brown-its Foghat! The great band that evolved from Savoy Brown. This DVD shows the band at an outdoor venue not that many years ago.The band itself was in the 50-somethings age bracket and STILL rocking.A plus is this is the original lineup of Dave,Rod,Tony and Roger.Anyone who enjoyed their music will be very impressed of the memories that it will bring(as well as a dynamite show).I was never fortunate enough to see them in person as the headline act but wittnessed several of the early shows. This was the time they were tabbed the "warm-up"band.All I know is I do not remember any of the headliners when Foghat played. But I remember Foghat very well. They were in the same category Montrose was in during the early seventies-they knew how to rock-and did.Foghat was the type of group that served notice to everyone else playing on the same bill(you better bring your A game tonight or you'll be blown off the srage). The DVD is relatively short but as the saying goes"you can choose quantity or quality".When you see the band on the DVD don't let father times aging of the guys fool you. They got it and they know it.Sad to say this was one of Lonesome Dave Peveretts last shows as he eventually lost his battle with cancer.Unfortunately,us forty-somethings are losing some of our favorites in the rock world but DVDs like this allows us to hang on to a part of them.So bittersweet in that I highly recomend this to any rock and all Foghat fans.
Rating: Summary: I Was There When It Happened! Review: Richard is correct. It was recorded entirely in Dayton in 97 at the Ribfest in the parking lot of the EJ Nutter Center at Wright State. It was a great show and this DVD caputes that night very well! One of the cameramen almost ran me over but I ducked and just kept on boogying, right up front! It was a hot July night but Dave and Company were hotter! The 5.1 is excellent so crank it up! A band near and dear to this 50 year old dude's heart.
Rating: Summary: Great show at a great price Review: This 10 song concert was recorded in Dayton Ohio in 1997 with all original members is outstanding, It has 2 more bonus songs one "angel of mercy" is a tribute to the late Lonesome Dave, the other is an acoustic song "leavin' again" which is played over the closing credits, It also has a band biography and a band photo gallery, this DVD like the cd version "Extended Versions" is outstanding and well worth the low price.....Rich Dunn
Rating: Summary: Heros to the End Review: This Foghat concert was such a sad one for me..'cause I'm a huge Fan of them expecially their '70's stuff and this concert was the first of any video material I've seen of them..and it hurt me to see Lonsome Dave (may god bless him) sing his heart out to crowd who really did not know the band except for a few to the front of the stage!!!The guys all in their 50's rocked!!!This concert is a stellar performance..a heavy set Rod Price burns up his slide guitar,Tony Stevens on bass and Roger Earl on drums all played their hearts out.The 5.1 surround sound is great on this Dvd and Includes some of their biggest hits!
Rating: Summary: GREAT BAND- GREAT DVD- GREAT PRICE!!! Review: THIS WAS ONE OF FOGHAT'S LAST PERFORMANCES AND I MUST LET YOU KNOW THAT THE BAND WAS ROCKIN' OUT LIKE THEY HAD BEEN FOR MANY YEARS. THIS DVD IS A TRIBUTE TO LONESOME DAVE, THE BAND'S LEAD GUITARIST AND VOCALIST. THIS DVD HELPS US TO BETTER APPRECIATE THE MAN AND THE BAND THAT TOOK US ALL ON A "SLOW RIDE." THE CLOSING SEQUENCE FEATURES THE SONG ANGEL OF MERCY, ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS EVER WRITTEN. THE DVD HAS GREAT SOUND QUALITY AND MOST FANS OF THE GROUP SHOULD ENJOY THIS DVD!!
Rating: Summary: Lonesome Dave Was Foghat & Savoy Brown! Review: Though they don't look the same as the cover of their debut album "Foghat" these guys still kick out the jams. This dvd features the original line-up with "Lonesome Dave" Peverett at the helm. All I have to say is Lonesome Dave was (and is in the hearts of 70's rockers everywhere) one of the great unsung blues rockers. While bands like the Rolling Stones prance on stage and barely break a sweat, cashing in big-time on past glory, Foghat is sweating it out giving it 125%. Peverett sings his heart out (its fitting with Dave's little dig on the Stones near the end of the disc). The band really shifts into high gear when Rod Price puts down the slide guitar in favor of his Stratocaster and the band breaks into "I Just Wanna Make Love To You". The twin guitar intro is still one of the best air guitar work-outs ever. It is really difficult to watch this, however, realizing that Peverett is passed on to a better place. But if you reflect on all the great songs he wrote, all the great albums he played on (Savoy Brown included), his legacy is secure in my opinion. My only negatives regarding the disc (and this is nit-picking, but knocked the dvd down to 4 stars) is too much slide guitar from Rod Price and the running time is a little short. Rod Price is a killer lead player, but only puts down the eventually grating slide guitar on a few tracks (same beef with "Return Of The Boogie Men"). But if you ever were or still are a Foghat fan.....if you want to reflect on your "dazed & confused" teen years, you owe yourself this dvd no questions asked.
